Great place to stay. Fireplace is excellent!Comfortable beds.We had some minor issues with the power including a district wide power cut but the farmstay is well stocked and we still managed a cooked breakfast.

An absolutely stunning location. Rolling hills, native bush and a beautiful lake. If you want to see the vast expanse of stars with no light pollution at night, settle into the rhythm of the gentleness of time without phones and TV, this is your place. It is rustic, but cozy and comfortable. So many lovely touches... lovely memories made and a few good books devoured from the deck in the sunshine. Thanks Evan for sharing this special place.

A great affordable holiday for our family of 6. Evan is a friendly host. We particularly enjoyed the walk through the bush around the little lake. Inside the house, the fire is warm, the shower is a good pressure and we had all we needed. It does get cold overnight though so keep the fire going. My only issue would be the squeaky red bunks - one needs tightening up as it’s a bit wobbly. Other than that, thanks for the memories!

Easter Getaway

Evan's directions took us straight to our accommodation. The road up there was interesting but shouldn't put people off coming to this gorgeous part of the country.The farm was great to walk around and our dogs enjoyed it too. Great location for dark skies for astrophotography.The best compliment we can give is that we will go back.

This property and host were awesome!! From the view to the complete isolation was amazing and my family and I really enjoyed ourselves.. only difficult thing was the driveway as it’s not ideal for small car and would definitely come in a 4x4

Quiet and relaxing getaway

The farm stay is great to get away from it all and breathe some fresh air. Everything is clean and the place has everything you need. Waterfall is not too far drive. Evan is a great host and great to chat to.

Perfect for us!

Our group were attending an event in Ahititi and Kotare was perfect for us. Easy access (steep but good driveway), excellent facilities, comfy beds, and a great central social area.

Good Easter trip

Property as advertised, cool setting in an old wool shed on a farm we didn't realise at first that the games area was shared with Evan and his lad's. We had a good trip and would go back again.

Rustic and quiet

Great 3 night stay in the woodshed. We enjoyed being out of cell range and a chance for our 6yr old to explore the outdoors. Not far from the forgotten world highway and the beaches so a great place to explore from or just chill with a good book.

A delightful surprise, staying in a woolshed up high above the world! Everything you could need provided, warm and comfortable, great views, interesting selection of books, info about the property and area. Fascinating wool-related details and beautiful QEII bush reserve as well, A great stay on a hideaway location.

Unique, peaceful and fun

We enjoyed our stay as a family in this working farm, different experience to our regular lifes in city. Even though it rained a lot while we were staying, there were still things to do. Evan was great and took time to show and explain the things we can do around.

Very peaceful and very Kiwi

From the directions and journey in to Barry Crump reading host to the the friendly farm dogs this is a quintessential Kiwi experience. Loved being away in the working Kiwi landscape surrounded by bush covered hills. The accommodation itself was large and welcoming with a comfortably working kitchen with all implements supplied and a modern bathroom. The plentiful wood came in very handy as the accommodation does get cold in the afternoons and nights so get ready to stoke the fire and rug up at night. The cold is the one star off as it is very cold in the mornings after a night with no fire. I did stay in the middle of winter though! Very friendly host. Great kiwi experience where there isn't a car noise to be heard.

Fantastic Farmstay Experience👍

We have enjoyed being here and wish we could have stayed longer. Evan is a very helpful and friendly host. He has provided us a happy and memorable farmstay experience. Many many thanks for his time. The whole room is very cosy and clean. The beds are comfortable to sleep. My children loved the farm stay and its was their favorite part of the trip. They had fun running around outside and love to play with Evan's farm dogs. They miss these lovely doggys after we went back home:) A place of rest. A peaceful haven. Warm hospitality, leisurely atmosphere, scenic farm environments. We will definitely go back again. Would recommend to everyone this fantastic farmstay experience.

A great relaxing stay with everything we needed supplied

We had an awesome time at Evans. Our 11 year olds highlight of the trip was meeting Evans dogs haha. Getting up the drive was a bit of a mission to start but with some helpful advice from Evan we were fine. Place had everything we needed. Kitchen well supplied. Linen all provided. Pool table and dart board were great (took our own darts) Beautiful and peaceful. A short drive and we were at the 3 sisters rocks and were able to walk out when tide was out. Great scenery and brilliant photos. Evan was available to chat to when needed. Thanks Evan all 4 of us loved our stay. Oh and the record player was pretty cool as well. Thanks

We expected better

We could not get up the road to the cottage. We had to wait for the owner to help and we eventually got up. The short flight of stairs up to the deck had a dangerous block of concrete at the bottom which made them a falling hazard. Leading up to the steps was mud. The interior itself was begging for cleaning. The floor hurt our bare feet with all the grit and dust on it. The entire place was covered in dust. When we left, I decided to wipe down the table with a wet cloth and the cloth was pitch black with dust. The kitchen was clean.

Very rustic

Great place, very rustic and lovely old school farming memorabilia. Don't think ive even seen a gin trap hanging in a kitchen before! Lovely hot shower and water pressure, loads of fire wood, heaps of blankets. Was what we payed for! We had a pleaant stay.

Perfect location

Suited our group of 4 perfectly for a weekend of gravel cycling. Evan graded the drive for us and it was no problem for our AWD vehicles (certainly a challenge to bike up) and seeing your 2 x Nissan Leaf's at the top made me laugh :-) Ideal facilities for our stay with all we needed and the selection of records was enjoyed. Loved the woolshed, fireplace, bike storage and shower water pressure! We hope to come again some time. It would be cool to paddle a kayak on the lake.

Neat place, unique location

Arriving to this place was really confusing. It’s a really cool place, unique design, freezing in winter until the fireplace is blazing. There’s a full kitchen (minus microwave), awesome shower, and beautiful landscapes.

Large well equiped converted wool shed. Comfy bed. Very cold at this time of the year before the wood burner fires up. Problems with the solar heating meant no hot shower. Host was great. Would definitely return in warmer months!! Thanks Evan.

Quiet and peaceful. The batch has everything you need. The walks are Absolutely beautiful. They host is very friendly. I'm actually not sure who loved it more, our 7 months old puppy or us. The children loved to see the farm at work.

Beautiful farm land, lovely walks around the area. Very relaxed setting, property manager contactable if we needed. Great Easter holiday! Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed it and felt right at home.
