The property is beautiful and has easy access to the river. Just a quick drive from Detroit Lake and all it has to offer. The house feels like a cabin, but with all the modern amenities like a dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. Can’t wait to stay here again!!

Simple, sweet home in quiet spot on Santiam River. Enjoyed our stay (two families with young kids) and was very convenient to boat daily at Detroit Lake (10 min drive). Owner's communicative and helpful. Beautiful spot!

Beautiful place
Very nice little house on the river. Only about 4-5 miles from Detroit. Very cool awesome place. Only thing I’d change were the beds, like the house, very old
We really loved the property itself and the river behind the house. There was plenty of room for everyone to run around and have a good time. We did feel the house needed a little upkeep with the missing window screens, front door that wouldn’t fully lock, and the dishwasher that wasn’t secured in. We kept having to trip the breaker because of the ACs upstairs and hot rooms. A few simple adjustments would make this house totally perfect for guests.
Nice property, however no wood available to use in the fire place, no locks on any bathroom doors, two of the three exterior doors did not lock well, and several electric heaters ran all the time to keep house somewhat warm.
What a peaceful place to experience the transition from Summer sunshine to Autumn rains! We enjoyed the rustic charm of this cabin-like house, with nooks and crannies to explore, both inside and out. Upstairs bedrooms and downstairs bathrooms may present a nighttime challenge for some guests; otherwise, go enjoy this “diamond in the rough”!

We enjoyed our stay for our little family vacation. The kitchen was well stocked with the things needed to make a meal...there could have been a few more dinner plates. Great dishwasher and large refrigerator. If you eat inside there is only a smallish table for 4-5.but if the weather allows you can seat 7 on the patio although a picnic table on the patio would have been nice for a larger family.
The owner was very quick to answer any questions which was very helpful. The kids and male adults loved the fishing. Large yard to run around in.

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Representstion of the property on line was very inaccurate... almost a falsehood
So much potential, but in disrepair... broken exterior door, propery not tended, false representation of access to river. We booked it for the yard and river access. House was ok with updated kitchen, which was nice. Overall pleasant, just really disappointed in the rough shape of the yard space and the way it was shown on line.

Hi Julia, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- We wish you had reached out to the Guest Contact during your stay if there were any maintenance issues you needed addressing. We would have done everything we could to resolve them immediately so that you could enjoy the home.
- We do our best to keep the outdoor area clean, if there are a few days between guest check-out and the next check-in, it is certainly possible for Mother Nature to affect the outdoor area once our cleaning crew has left.
- Our listing reflects the layout of the property, though we’re sorry if this caught you off-guard. We pride ourselves on being transparent and accommodating to all guests and would have been more than happy to walk you through the exact layout of the property had you inquired during the booking process.
- Our backyard sits right on the bank of the Santiam River. We do include a map on our listing so that guests can see the approximate location of the river before booking.
- We also provide plenty of suggestions in the listing description of nearby attractions, but ultimately it’s up to the guest how they want to spend their time in the area.
- We have received numerous guest reviews praising the access to the river and the beauty of the surrounding nature.
- While we do regret our home was not up to your expectations, we are happy to share that no issues were reported by the guests who stayed the following weekend.
- Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to address these concerns. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review!
We enjoyed our time. It worked great for our 2 dogs. It was great being not far from Detroit Lake.
The house is a nice size for family gathering. The yard and outdoor deck are a nice plus.
If your an older couple and need a bathroom near by, the two bathrooms are located down on the main level. The bedroom on the main level has bunkbeds, it would be better if they had the queen bed in that room which has a bathroom .
No air conditioning. other than window cooling system which helps, but when you have days that are in the 100's it takes a long time to cool off.
Fantastic.......! There were 6 of us old guys. We have been fishing together since High School. 50+ years. Started snowing on Friday and got over a foot of snow. Power went out approximately 4am Saturday and came back on about 2:30pm. There was plenty of firewood in the carport and they had even cut some kindling for us...! Had some issues getting the TV to boot back up. Sent a text to the owner.? and he replied within 2 minutes..! The whole experience was awesome. The communication was fantastic. We will be back.

Nice relaxing place on the river!
First tip -don't forget your booking info print out like I did. Upon arriving I had to call the owner and get the key code, which he was prompt to answer. Once connected to Wifi I was happy - the QR code is in the house book by the guestbook. Our group of 4 couples met to enjoy a long overdue visit and meals together, and this was the place! Set along the river with a roomy back deck and inside the house all home comforts. It is a "step back in time" home, with many antique wall frames and interesting history. The issues we experienced we promptly resolved (being homeowners ourselves), keeping in mind it's an older home. The upstairs bedroom electricity went out - we determined it was due to having all fans on at once, as the upstairs was hot (no A/C) so overload it. FYI - breaker box was found in the main bathroom, main floor. From then on we tried to not use too many things on one circuit (2 breaker boxes). The downstairs electric was fine). The oven does cook slower, but we cooked a prime rib roast so were slow cooking anyway-just added an extra half hour. Plenty of dishware and glasses, the non stick pans could be replaced -bring your own. The dishwasher worked well for the load I washed, just needed to be more secured to the wall (owner aware now). Washer and dryer work great. Overall we had a great time and meals and relaxation. I'll just add that the fire pit by the river needed the fire permit renewed -I contacted the owner and gave the info so that should be OK to have a campfire going forward the next year.
