Ginny is now a retired Nurse, having practiced in several specialties and taught Nursing at the College level for many years; 20 yrs at San Jose State Univ. (Professor) and Sonoma State Univ. She loves out-doors, back-packing, swimming, and since our Honeymoon (photo) snorkeling. Glen is a retired business executive of Pharmaceutical and more recently Biotechnology companies. He has a pharmacy degree and an MBA. Growing up he participated in several sports and later focused on water-skiing, snorkeling, and back-packing. Both of us were born in California--she in Oakland, he in Santa Cruz. We both attended college at UC Berkeley and UCSF. Glen got his MBA at Harvard. Our most favorite vacations are to Ginny's family cabin in Yosemite and our Hawaii properties. We live in a house that we completed building in 2000 on Glen's family mountain-top property in Soquel (Santa Cruz), CA
Glen purchased this Condo in 1998
Why Glen chose Kailua-Kona
Over the years Glen traveled to Hawaii many times, mainly Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Ginny and Glen went to several Hawaii islands on their Honeymoon in 1985. (Picture is at Kona Village) We have owned a time-share in Waikiki, a lovely condo at Poipu Beach in Kauai, and several vacation and long-term condos on the Big Island. Our favorite place to visit became Hawaii for the sports (e.g. snorkeling), sites all over the island, variety of scenery, birds, and the fact that this island is not yet ruined by Tourism and population. We now own properties only in KONA.
What makes this Condo unique
We stayed at Kona Shores annually since 1985 (now over 30 years). We loved the PRIVACY of the North wing of this complex. In 1998 the lovely northwest, first floor, corner unit became available. Glen had seen it while helping a renter fix screens. We were lucky enough to buy this unit. We love the open feel of all the glass, the tropical gardens, the intimacy, a good partial ocean view and the very private location within the complex. (We are told that this special unit was built by the original contractor of Kona Shores for one of his relatives.)

I cannot say enough to express how happy I was to stay here. I had the very best week & will definitely be back to stay again.
I have stayed in other places & they have been nice however there was not one thing that was overlooked to make sure my stay was not 100% perfect.
I can only say that you will not be disappointed if you stay here.
Thank you again for a wonderful place that felt so comfortable. 🙏
Convenience in Kona
Had a great time on the Big Island this past week! G&G's condo was the perfect start. Great place and a beautiful setting. Windows on two wall of the living room that open on to a private, lush lanai with geckos that stop by for feeding every morning (just put out some fruit - they'll be there)! Convenience is the word too. The parking spot is right next to the condo - you can look out the window and see your car right there just steps from the door. The laundry facility is conveniently located right across the hall - thought that might be a source of noise but I was totally wrong. Convenient location is very close to all the local fare but not close enough to be inundated by the crowds that are attracted to all the shopping and dining establishments along Ali'i Dr. Nice view out to the ocean as well! 5 out of 5 stars!
Right on! Just should mention that parking spot is 6 feet below level of Condo--so despite being next to the Condo you don't see it sitting down--just a nice partial ocean view and tropical plants & trees.
This property is truly Home Away from Home!
Loved the outside patios & the lush foliage, sat out every day & night. Very quiet area.
Kitchen is well equipped for your daily needs & the bed is very comfortable. Will be back!!!
Big island get away
Really lucky to have had this place home in our big island get away. All the details in the add are accurate. Would definitely come back.
A Tropical Paradise Experience- Home away from Home!
This place is amazing! A home away from home in a tropical paradise we could experience right at our doorstep! We found it was immaculate; with the fully stocked kitchen, we were able to make most of our meals, and enjoy them steps away on the outdoor patio! Kona coffee was provided for our stay, a wonderful surprise! A variety of birds & geckos there to greet us in the morning, with a view of the ocean & even Spinner Dolphins in view from our private lanai. The king sized bed very comfortable with a quiet cool sleeping environment, extra bedding and air mattresses provided for our boys. Large bathroom with tub & shower. We were happy to find beach towels, chairs, floaties and snorkelling gear available for family outings! Books & guides provided for sights around the Big Island. Steps to our parking space and laundry. We enjoyed the pool and sunset views right on the ocean, and the convenience to town, shops and farmer's market!
Glen and Leaf have gone the extra mile, they were very helpful and accommodated our family vacation dates and details. Thanks for making our stay amazing, we were truly blessed with a home away from home experience and we plan to be back!
Just like home to us, wish it were our home!
Really enjoyed our second stay at this condo and plan to come back again. Very clean, nicely furnished with updated kitchen and bathroom, comfortable mattress, relaxed sleeping environment with the outdoor garden and bamboo wind chimes. Very well stocked kitchen. Lots of reference guides provided for anything you might want to do or know about the Big Island. Convenient to the laundry and assigned parking space. Most days we had our meals on the very private lanai surrounded by the tropical garden with a view of the ocean, with the birds and geckos providing entertainment. Topped off our days with a dip in the complex pool right on the ocean, then were able to watch the sun set right from the living room.
Glen and Leaf were very accommodating in helping us to set up our trip and any later communications we had with them. We want to add that Bobbi was most pleasant and very helpful any time we had questions or needed help with anything.
The only negative thing we can say about the unit is that we can't live there permanently!!!!
