REVIEWS "Our stay at Treetops house was truly magical. The views of the Lake from the house are stunning. The sunsets are amazing! And the house itself is clean and full of charm. The location, about 10 minutes from Grand Haven, is also great! Would highly recommend this house for a friend trip or family vacation" Kelly H.
"This is the 4th year that our friends from Oregon, Chicago, New York and Cincinnati have spent time at Tree Tops. We all look forward to this vacation together all year long. We were old roommates and our husbands were fraternity brothers. We like to cook and Tree Tops is equipped with everything you could possibly need! This was again a true relaxing vacation - we slept in, drank coffee at the beach, boated on Spring Lake, low country cookout, cocktails on the deck - it was perfect. These friends are all very well traveled and where do they want to go every year? Tree Tops. It is cozy, charming and a true cottage. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We would love to do it again next year." Carol S.

Our family of 11 had a fantastic time at this spot. Great location and the deck and beach access cannot be beat! Incredible view from the deck. We had family pictures taken. The house was warm (no AC), and we had a few minor maintenance issues (it’s an old house), but the MC was very responsive and helpful. We would stay here again just for the deck and beach!
The house was beautiful! Perfect for my large family to prepare for daughter’s wedding. The view was stunning. The only downside was it was quite chilly at night in the guest house without any heat. They did bring us extra blankets but getting up in the morning and late evening was chilly. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
Everything was very nice. The only hitch was the codes provided to the door was not accurate in the email.Door was unlocked, so I put my bags in and locked the door to check it. The code did not work. Luckily the property caretaker was there to give me the correct codes.Otherwise, there are no complaints regarding the stay.

Dark, Dank, Disappointing
This property should emphasize that there is no air conditioning. The furniture is old and uncomfortable. It smelled like girl scout camp cabins, very musty. No beach. We moved after 2 days. Would never recommend.

So sorry your expectations were not met. The property is not advertised as having a/c . The listing clearly states the cottage was built in 1925 and the pictures accurately represent the listing. We truly hope you did take time to enjoy the amazing views and private Lake Michigan access this property has to offer.
*Note - these guests were relocated after 2 days due to storm related power outages along the lakeshore, not cottage conditions.
The lake and beach were so beautiful! The house was great to except for the electrical problems that caused the breaker to trip. We couldn’t have two appliances on at the same time in the kitchen or a breaker would trip and that caused the TV and internet to go out! We moved things around and made it work. The refrigerator was the biggest problem. It is old and was not adequate for a 14 person stay . Water leaked on everything and there was a puddle in the bottom of the fridge everyday I would recommend grocery shopping everyday for your food needs if you have a big group. Also kayaks and paddle boards were advertised and there were no boards and 2 of the three kayaks were leaky Lastly, it was cloudy and rainy a lot so we were inside a bit and having hooks for hoodies and towels woul have been awesome

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and review of your recent stay at Treetops, Kobi! We appreciate your kind words about the beautiful lake and beach, and we regret any inconvenience you experienced during your stay.
We apologize for the electrical problems that you encountered, causing the breaker to trip and impacting the operation of your appliances, TV, and internet. We understand how frustrating this can be, especially when trying to enjoy your time at our property. We're glad our maintenance technician was able to visit the unit and re-set the breaker.
We also apologize for the inconvenience caused by the refrigerator not being adequate for your group size. We understand how crucial a fully functional refrigerator is for a comfortable stay, and we regret that it did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we prioritize improvements to our amenities. We want future guests to know that there is a secondary fridge in the basement.
Regarding the advertised kayaks and paddle boards, we apologize for the miscommunication and any disappointment this may have caused. We are currently working on resolving these issues, and we have adjusted our listing to reflect this.
We appreciate your suggestion regarding the availability of hooks for hoodies and towels. This is an excellent suggestion, and we will explore the possibility of adding hooks in appropriate locations to better accommodate our guests.
Thank you once again for bringing these matters to our attention. Your feedback allows us to identify areas for improvement and ensure that we deliver the best possible experience for our guests.
We loved our friends reunion weekend at this lake house. It was quaint, with rustic charm! We used every room in the house to hang out and especially loved the outdoor deck! That view of the sunset is incredible.... and going to sleep each night with the sound of waves crashing was awesome too! We think the house could use more wine glasses! Even plastic ones would be useful... there was about 2 in the whole kitchen. Otherwise, we were pleased.
Just not sure after all taxes, Vrbo costs, etc, over 7K for 6 nights would be something I would pay again.
House is a little more rustic than what appears in video/pics. White bedroom, as mentioned by other reviewers, is above detached garage, and can get hot during the day, but with exhaust fan and other fans, can be manageable. Small AC unit helps keep it cool in the evening. Steps leading down to water are as advertised/pictured, with only a few feet of sand, but enough that the 2 and 4 year old could play safely as long as adult with them was strong enough to pull themselves up breakwall. Twin bed mattresses were tough for an adult. Would suggest bringing adapters that allow plugging 3 prong into 2 prong outlets if bringing extra fans.. Washer and dryer in basement were newest items in house, and convenient. View from the deck was great. Location was good - short drive to Grand Haven. Great stay overall with family - all enjoyed themselves - and enough room for the 9 of us to be comfortable.

Overall good but a few negatives
Listing is misleading in that the “nice” large white bedroom is not in the main house but next door over a garage! House is in need of lighting in the bedrooms... understandable it’s an old house so they’ve done a pretty good job. Lake and sunset are dreamy!
The property is unique and spacious with the main home and another living space above the garage. The deck has a lovely view of Lake Michigan with plenty of seating for family and friends. The stairs going down to the Lake are old but they recently put a new platform down at the Lake level. There is no beach due to high water levels in the Great Lakes and there are pieces of an old dock that can be dangerous when walking in the water. We had a problem with construction at the home next door while we stayed but the management company was very responsive. Overall we had a nice stay with our family!
Charming, lovely well-equipped home with lots of extra amenities and a spectacular deck overlooking Lake Michigan. Due to rising water levels all over the country, the beach is minimal and access via steps requires a little extra caution. All in all, a lovely property that worked well for our extended family of 14 that included four under five and my 90-year-old mother.

Making the best of things is how we roll.
We discovered several months ago that this property does not have air conditioning. Although it is not listed on the listing as having it, this was surprising to us as some of our family members have stayed in this area before and the properties all had it. We discovered this via one of the reviews a few months after we booked, but were not able to get our deposit back. We were blessed with great weather, but even so the suite above the garage was uninhabitable during the day. Shortly after our check-in we were noticing swarms of fruit flies. We discovered rotting fruit in the hinges of the kitchen trash cans as well as in the bottom of the trash cans under the trash bags. On our second day (Sunday)we discovered that the water line to the spigot at the steps leading to the beach was broken and water was gushing out under the deck. Fortunately one of our sons was able to temporarily repair this until someone came to correct this the next day. The stairs to the beach only have a rail on one side and end about 30 inches off the sand. The beach is lined with broken off posts posing a major injury risk, especially for energetic children. Anyone sensitive to poison ivy BEWARE! It is in the landscaping, along the walkway and surrounds the fire pit. Three of us contacted it - two have never had it before. The view from the back deck is absolutely incredible. The sunsets from the deck are by far the best thing about this property. Having the bike and hiking trails just across the road, also are a big plus. Centrally located with Grand Haven, Holland, Grand Rapids, Saugatuck and Muskegon just short drives away, make it ideal for day trips.

We are truly sorry for any missed expectations - the property is as advertised with no a/c and the space above the garage can be quite warm during the day. We did have our maintenance headed out to repair the spigot same day but were notified it was resolved. It has been fixed. We will pay attention to the cleaning details as well...Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
This property had a great view and perfect deck for enjoying Lake Michigan. The sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly. There was plenty of space for everyone.
Our large group enjoyed this home and the location. The layout worked great to have one family in the carriage house and the rest of us in the main house. Views are unbeatable, with the house on a high spot on the bluff, so the stairs are worth it! House was well-equipped and very clean. Great renovations and layout. Deck is perfect, and we brought a baby gate to keep the little ones off the beach stairs. Thanks!

No beach 😩❗️
Going to Lake Michigan in June is always tenuous. Unfortunately our weather wasn’t very good. The day we did spend on the beach the waves were small so we had about 6 feet of beach front. When the waves were higher you were lucky to have 2 feet. There were no long walks on the beach as there is very little beach. Lots of debris on the beach. The last step off the end of the stairs is a big drop, which is somewhat dangerous, another step needs to be added.
The deck is beautiful, however sun does not get to it because of the trees. We had to sit out by the fire pit in the driveway to get what little sun there was. We had a group of four families so the space was nice. I think washing the blankets and pillows occasionally would be good . We thought from the pictures there was a usable fire place. It is not functioning, which is a real bummer because we enjoy wood burning fireplaces, which would have been nice on those cold nights. The kitchen needs some upgrading. There was an ant infestation, kept killing ants the whole time. They really need a high quality set of pots and pans and some cleaning and organizing of the kitchen drawers and cupboards.
Overall we had a nice time. The owners can’t do anything about the beach, and with a few upgrades, the place could be special.

Christine - I wanted to take a few days to be able to respond confidentially that the issues we have the ability to correct have been addressed. Unfortunately the beach conditions all along the lakeshore have been less then favorable this year but as you noted we have no control over that.
The blankets and all bedding are professionally laundered between each turn regardless we have had everything sent again just to be sure . We have purchased as well a new set of cookware and replaced all pots and pans. As far as the ants - the cottage is on a wooded dune and during the rainy period you were there the ants became pretty mobile. We have had the cottage treated professionally twice and are confident the situation is under control. Regardless we will continue to remain vigilant!
Thanks again for your suggestions and we hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
Our family gathered here for a weekend reunion. We loved the deck and amazing lake-views.

Great long Wedding Weekend!
We stayed here for a wedding in Grand Haven with a group of friends. The property was plenty of space and perfectly furnished for a large group of people. We unfortunately had rainy weather but had we not, the patio would have been the go to spot! We had a great time and would definitely stay again!
