Wonderful cabin in a very quiet area. Property was just right for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids under 5). Fishing, nearby hiking, and a wonderful furry companion, Monster, kept the kids busy and happy the entire time!
Hidden Lake is truly a hidden gem, offering a park-like setting that feels both peaceful and serene from the moment you arrive. The property looks out across a beautiful lake with a spectacular island in the center, and it’s clear the owners are meticulously curating and pruning the grounds to maintain its natural charm. During my stay, I spent hours watching a herd of deer quietly feeding across the lake—an unforgettable sight that added to the retreat-like atmosphere. The experience was made even warmer by the sweet animals roaming the property, especially Lucious, the friendly dog, along with a charming cat who both made me feel right at home. The owners went out of their way to ensure I had a wonderful stay, and their kindness and attention to detail shine through in every aspect of this property. Hidden Lake truly offers the perfect combination of comfort, natural beauty, and hospitality.

I am so glad you had wonderful experiences stay at hideaway Lake property we are so fortunately able to share this serene paradise with all my guest, thank you so much for your generous review hope see you again in the future..
Beautiful location- we went to the town of scottsville to eat at Tavern on the James, and Bateau. Enjoyed the lively Tavern on Friday night and - the food.
Also traveled to both Trump winery and Blenheim. Beautiful scenery- quiet. Lovely time.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay , took several beautiful hikes around the property and caught(released) several fish . Hosts are onsite but are super friendly and leave guests to enjoy their stay . Owners have also installed privacy screens / shrubbery to add further privacy . Can’t wait to book our next trip !
I traveled here with my six-year-old boy, and he loved it. The property is by a lake and we had the opportunity to go out on the water. At the end of our stay, the property owner even gave us vegetables from her garden. My son loved the stay so much that he drew pictures of the property days after our visit. It left quite an impression and we would love to book again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Quiet Cabin
This property is great if you are looking for a quiet weekend away within driving distance to the mountains. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The owners live on the property nearby and were very welcoming. Be prepared for minimal cell service (Verizon was on SOS mode, T-mobile had 1-2 bars). Scottsville is a 15 minute drive away and had a food lion and several places to visit. Had a wonderful time, thank you!

Great place
We arrived to a cute cabin with a wonderful lake. We found a complementary basket with snacks and other stuff. The cabin was clean, nice view of lake. My mom and brother and nephew was delighted to go fishing right outside the door. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of room and amenities. We loved it. If we are ever in this area again we will definitely love to rent this place again. OK
Serene, quiet, and quaint. Not the place to go if you want cell service. The hosts home is close, but we didnt see them other than passing in the driveway. Cozy cabin feel, sweet kitty out in the gardens, if you want to escape the world of technology, its a fantastic stay.

This was a very cute little place. The beds were very comfortable! My friends and I had a lovely and quiet girls’ weekend.
The cabin was very clean and thoughtfully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and we were even able to bake a birthday cake in the air fryer. The water is just beautiful and we enjoyed a night by the fire. I do wish we’d known ahead of time just how close the host’s home was to our place. I think a little fence between the houses would help guests feel like they had more privacy. That being said, we were left alone and really enjoyed our stay!

Outstanding
Our stay was from 8/6 to 8/9. This cabin is wonderful. it's on a small lake. If you are looking for quiet, this is the place. The cabin was spotless, and we enjoyed the way it was constructed. You would have to see it to appreciate the detail. Thanks to the owners. DJ & Dani
This property is as remote and lovely as the pictures show it. The nearest town is a quick 15 minutes away (Scottsville) and has great restaurants, an adorable bakery, and a wonderful book/coffee shop. Thirty minutes further you are in the downtown of Charlottesville and have a variety of options to entertain yourself. I would highly recommend this property for those who are looking to be off the grid, but not too far from civilization. The owner was super responsive to any questions we had and also provided a lovely welcome basket for us. Clean, comfortable, and very relaxing!

Cute and quiet!
My husband and I stayed in this cute cabin for our 10 year anniversary. It was very cozy, super clean, and in the perfect location! The trails were nice, so bring shoes you don’t mind getting red clay on. There isn’t internet so if you want to watch movies I would suggest downloading them before you arrive. Also let family know you won’t have cell service while at the cabin. But it was honestly nice to put phones away and just enjoy the time. We very much enjoyed the visit and have talked about coming back!

Awesome isolation
Beautiful cabin lakeside with great fishing (catch and release only). Very comfortable and everything was there for you. I recommend shopping for groceries before you get there. The only drawback is that you are completely communications isolated. There’s no WiFi or phone service and no landline. Thankfully we didn’t have an emergency of any kind. The owner’s house is close by, but they weren’t home when we were there.

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
This could be a nice venue if they deal with some significant problems. There were a lot of cockroaches and other bugs. It was especially unpleasant to find a cockroach on my toothbrush! This place needs serious fumigation. The beds weren’t beds—they were cots with no box springs and thin cot mattresses. Spend a few bucks for real beds. The shower temperature was uncontrollable. I would start by turning it to all hot and once there, set it for a good temperature, In less than a minute it would go completely cold. Then after setting back to all hot, it took a minute to get hot. Then the process repeated. Very uncomfortable. The water was brownish for the first few days before eventually clearing up. I wasn’t convinced it was ever potable. If they fix these problems, it could be a cute getaway.

From the owner:"I’m so sorry, thank you for notifying me of the situation. We’ve never had this problem before, they must have been brought in by another guest., I will try desperately to address the issue today.. Thanks again."
I cannot speak highly enough about our experience at hide away lake. We arrived and drove down a wooded road which opened up to a serene lake view and the cutest little wood cabin. We were greeted by Monster which is the most gracious feline host you could hope to meet. The cabin is immaculately cleaned and supplied with everything you could hope to need to settle into a retreat away from society. It was very hot outside when we visited but the AC in the cabin was excellent. The beds and bedding were ample and immensely comfortable. The outside surround of the cabin was beautiful with ample seating. We hired the John boat and spent a whole day out on the lake fishing where we caught several bass and perch. The hosts’ house was visible from the cabin but they were scarce most of the visit and just lovely to speak with when our paths did cross. We saw loads of deer and enjoyed our evenings with the fireflies around the lake edge and cozy fire pit. We left feeling rested and rejuvenated. Simply amazing stay ❤️
