We had a lovely, 5-day stay on the shore of Silver Lake. We are a family group of 6 spanning 3 generations. From the 10 year old to the 70 year old, we enjoyed the house, the lake and the whole area.
This place was amazing and the host was super friendly and easy to contact. I would 100% come back here! Bring your own boats - there is a large canoe and a kayak - but not easy to use with children. Perfect location. Small private lake.
We were very comfortable at the cottage and had everything we needed at our disposal. Location was very convenient to town but not intrusive with traffic or noise. There was enough space for everyone! Kitchen is a little small but was outfitted with everything you needed. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean! Lakeview was beautiful, although very close to neighbours it was never a bother. No shoreline but water was clear, fishing was good, and kids enjoyed swimming (shallow enough for adults to stand mid chest level). The owner was incredibly nice and helpful with suggestions to do in-town, he also brought up a brand-new BBQ when the old one was not functional! Firepit was also brand new -super bonus! Would recommend the cottage for a couple or small group of friends/family!
We had a great time with our extended family at this Port Carling cottage. The place was tidy, beds were comfortable, and we especially liked the convenience of being about to walk into town and to the farmer's market.
We recently stayed at this charming cottage with friends, and it was a fantastic experience. Everything was as advertised and well-equipped, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The host was very responsive, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway!
Got exactly what we were expecting and hoping for. Our family spent a week here and we loved it. Very cozy, clean, and comfortable. Everyone was happy and the lake dock and pool table got a lot of use.
The cottage was perfect for spending quality time with family. It was well equipped and the location is great! Few steps down to the lake would take us away from the bustle of the traffic and closer to nature. A short walk in the other direction leads into town with plenty restaurants and cafes. Highly recommend the antiques+book store and the hotdogs from the stand in the parking lot.
Our host, Nigel, was very responsive when we reached out for help with the heating (basement corner bedroom gets really cold at night) and gave us plenty of information to explore the area.
A very relaxing and fun trip overall!
Great space, with lots of room for my sister and our families. We had a wonderful stay, reliving our Muskoka memories from our 20's walking to the shops in Port Carling.
I didn't realize the house was right on the 118, a super busy road, but you didn't notice it from the roomy cottage/house and didn't hear the road at all from the dock. We also liked the convenience of walking into the village for dinners, drinks and shops.
Nigel is a super responsive and friendly host with lots of great suggestions on how to make the most of our stay.
We stayed here in late October. It is a lovely property. The cottage is well kept and nicely appointed. Appreciated the linens being included that is a great perk! The lake is perfect, small and quiet. Lots of activities including canoes and board games. The property is on main road into town but inside the cottage and down by the lake there is no noticeable traffic noise. Great tips from owner we enjoyed the Hardy Lake hike. Owner was very helpful and responsive. A really great stay altogether would definitely recommend!
The home was very cute and as pictured are shown. The house is snug, but worked fine for vacation. Clean and picked up. Tons of games, fully equipped with kitchen, and little extras like bath soap or laudry pods. The outside is beautiful with the dock and water, there is a long steap hill to get there. The owner had GREAT communication!!! Best I have had with a rental.
My only suggestion would be to add more hooks for towels. Great stay with family and enjoyed our time.
There is room for 2 families of 3-4, it's a quick walk (<1km) to a great park for families and downtown port carling, but still feels like a true cottage. It's a quick walk down to the dock and small and quiet lake. It's a swim & canoe kind of lake, not watersports, which was perfect for our families. Swimming is good if you're ok with standard Muskoka clay bottom lakes. (Some of our group wore swimming shoes but this is very minor and didn't impact our stay at all!).
Nigel’s property in Port Carling is a great spot for young families, combining the feeling of being on a secluded small lake with the convenience of being in town.
Our kids loved the dock and the water and we felt safe letting them explore because of the lack of noisy boats with large wakes. The canoes on Nigel’s property were great and easy to launch (bring appropriate life jackets for children). The chiminea was a big bonus too for a safe and contained fire.
The cottage itself was clean and well appointed. Sheets and towels were provided! My kids opted to share a room, so we had lots of extra space. The pool table was a lot of fun as well. Laundry area was spacious and convenient.
Even though the road had a fair amount of traffic, we felt safe walking on the paved shoulder into town. It was nice to not have to cook and plan every meal! And it was nice to safely enjoy a cocktail at dinner since we could walk to town instead of driving.
Nigel was extremely helpful and responsive.
Beautiful and spacious cottage. It has everything and more that you need during your saty. The pool table was definitely big plus, we played every day. Huge , smart TV is great for movie nights. Kids had a blast fishing from the dock while we enjoy the tranquility of Muskoka. Its a bit challenging for older people to come up to the cottage from the lake shore, but for kids it was fine. Tall mature trees gave a feeling that we are in the forest. One night tree deers pass through the property. Port Carling is a hidden gem. It has a lot of small boutiques and restaurants. Must see the opening of the bridge .Overall it was an amazing time. We are thinking to come back there next summer.
Nice place with lots of space and everything you need to spend vacation outdoor and indoor. Too large for just two people, but perfect for family and friends.
Plenty of kitchen facilities including spices etc.
Owner very responsive and helpful, answers came very fast plus lots of interesting tips for the area.
We would highly recommend this property
Great little getaway cottage. We were a little concerned as it was close to road and essentially in Port Carling so not quite the cottage escape but in most ways the property exceeded expectations. Place was clean, within walking distance to restaurants and on a nice quiet lake. Property owner was very responsive and helpful.
