Well appointed unit. All the comforts anyone would ask for. Bathrobes, plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. Kitchen is also well outfitted. They have laundry facilities and also provide soap and fabric sheets. If you are staying in Black Diamond, I’d recommend renting this property. Cheers
Absolutely beautiful property and lovely host, who was very helpful and responsive. Very spacious with high ceilings & lovely decor. Very well-appointed with everything you could need - kitchen is very well equipped, and there are tons of towels, a stocked bathroom essentials drawer, books, DVDs, games and toys. Lovely bed linens too. The suite is a basement suite, so it is down a steep flight of stairs, which we didn't realise. It wasn't a problem for us, but it might be for some. We found it very hot in early June, and there's no way to cool the place. The living room 'window' is not actually a window, it's a lightbox. We couldn't get the bedroom window to open, and the kitchen window requires a stepladder and balancing on the edge of the sink. I thought I was going to pull the cupboard door off its hinges getting back down. It wasn't possible to leave the main door open because it backs onto the garage, and there was a strong smell of engine fumes. Some fans/portable a/c, and better airflow would help. The sofa-bed has a lovely comfy memory foam topper, but unfortunately doesn't unfold completely flat, so your feet are pointing up at a 15º angle. Moving the huge living room rug out of the way helped a little, but the gigantic coffee table is heavy and hard to move. Would highly recommend, but with a couple of caveats. (Do not recommend the 'Irish' Pub from the basket of recommendations. It's not Irish at all, apart from a couple of shamrocks stuck to the wall).

About the host
Hosted by Mark Holinaty
Our family (my wife, my teenage son and I) love adventure! Backcountry camping, hiking, hunting, riding dirt bikes in the nearby OHV area, and exploring our beautiful province. We will occasionally take a cooler to Sandy McNabb (20 min. West), have a fire in the day use area by the river, and cook our supper while fishing in the river.
Why they chose this property
We are blessed with beauty and unique novelty in our area. Eau Claire Distillery boasts world class gin and vodka (#2 in North America), Longview Steakhouse is run by chefs who trained in Europe (book well in advance!), local microbrewery which has live music and outdoor seating areas, a local chocolatier, a vintage soda jerk, Chuckwagon Cafe which was featured on 'You Gotta Eat Here' and raises their own meat, and so much more! It is not uncommon for local ranchers or distant vacationers to arrive in their helicopters. Some of the most scenic drives in all of Alberta (Hwy 40 West of Longview, or straight West of Turner Valley to Blue Rock and back, or Hwy 532 to the Forestry Trunk Road for unforgettable views). Lots of geocaching around, and many more attractions!
