We had such a wonderful stay at the Red Donkey Cottage. The setting is absolutely charming—surrounded by beautiful oak trees, peaceful Hill Country views, and the sweetest farm animals that made the experience feel truly special for our family. The home itself was comfortable, clean, and perfectly set up for our group, with plenty of space to relax and unwind.

Thanks for your review! We're so glad you enjoyed the convenient location and that the fenced yard was a great spot for your dog to play. It's wonderful to hear the space worked well for your family. We’d love to host you again next time you're in Wimberley!
We had a great stay! Everything was very clean. The home is spacious and comfortable. As adults traveling with older parents, we appreciated the layout of the home with bedrooms on separate sides of the house (one bathroom per side). The house is single level. Our pups enjoyed the yard, which is fully fenced (though smaller dogs should be watched near the gate and fence corners). And the full family enjoyed the friendly horses and donkeys. The kitchen was pretty well equipped, though if you are a particular cook (like me), you may want to bring a nonstick pan. We were grateful to the hosts for providing such a nice home to us and would love to stay again.

Overall the stay was good, location was great as well. The property needs a few security features, like outdoor lighting and better locking system. Otherwise was a happy stay

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and the great location. We appreciate your suggestions. This property does have deadbolts on every door, and this area is actually a designated dark sky community. That means we limit outdoor lighting to preserve the beauty of the night sky- perfect for stargazing. Thanks again for staying with us, we’d love to welcome you back again soon!
My family and I enjoyed staying on this beautiful property. It was a nice escape from the city. Definitely would recommend to friends and would stay here again.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. It was a sibs get-to-gether (we are all seniors) and we had a wonderful time. The home was beautifully appointed, the property was large and private and beautiful and the resident animals were an added bonus. We would definitely stay there again.
We went to the festival in DS. The location of the house was perfect for that. The house itself was awesome. Great floor plan. Cute and beautiful grounds

Great place to relax and enjoy college graduation weekend! Spacious and beautiful common area for family to connect. The front porch during a rain shower was the BEST. Very nice and responsive host. Had a great weekend!
Had a wonderful time at The Red Donkey Cottage. Only saw the donkeys once. House is spacious, clean and provided plenty of room for my family. Would suggest stocking kitchen with better knives. Plenty of towels. You won't be disappointed if you vook this property.

We enjoyed our stay overall. Great layout and the property is close to the grocery store and other shops. I don't think it was cleaned before we came. Everything was very dusty, cobwebs next to and under the beds, hair in the tub, and overgrown grass in the yard. We were surprised that no basics like laundry detergent, dishwasher fluid, or ground coffee was provided.
Stayed here to celebrate a birthday with a couple of friends and escape the world...and that is what happened. House is just as described. Great setting! Amazing fireplace and firepit! Friendly Neighbors! So many places to relax! We didn't leave the house, but close to things if we did. Only constructive feedback is the kitchen tools weren't the best, so if you are planning to cook a lot be prepared. Thanks! WILL BE BACK FOR SURE!

Thank you for your kind review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our place, and we appreciate your enthusiasm. We can't wait to welcome you back for another stay.
We enjoyed our stay. The internet was not working during our stay. The kids loved petting the horses next door. It is a great space. We throughly enjoyed our time. House is great! Washer/dryer worked out great! It just needs a call to the exterminator. Might have missed that appointment. Lots of spider webs under the beds. One call to the cable company too. If they addressed those two issues, this property would have gotten 5 stars.
The house was close to Wimberley and great for our family of 5. The kitchen had just about everything we needed and the beds were pretty good. The yard was fully fenced with hog wire at the bottom to keep our dog in. We got a few visits from the neighbor horses and donkeys while we were there.
The house was not very clean when we arrived. Everything was in its place but the bathrooms could use some work. Also, the front door electronic lock was in poor condition and we were never really sure if it was working.
Aside from that, we had a nice stay.
The house was very nice but we were disappointed to find there was no coffee provided at all. Also wasn’t able to wash dishes in the dishwasher because there was no detergent provided. We have stayed in many VRBO properties all of over the US and generally these basics are provided at least in limited quantities. Would also suggest a Keurig if possible. Otherwise, loved our stay.

This home has potential, but needs some TLC. If you have small children you cannot use tub with shower running too, combination lock to front door needs work. Takes several tries to get door open, do not plan on cooking a full meals here kitchen is not equipped and watch for the spiders. Much more but then I would be getting to petty.
The good: We loved the location of the property being so close to downtown Wimberly and the horses and donkey were a fun added feature. All the amenities were as described.
The bad: The first night we were there I used the shower and slipped and fell out of the shower. There is no handle to hold on to and no kind of anti slip surface in either of the showers. I ended up going to the ER Friday morning at 6am because when I fell out of the shower I landed on my tailbone and thought maybe I was severely injured. It wound up just being bruised but I was moving slowly the rest of the weekend, even after the Dr gave me something for pain.
We couldn't walk around the house barefoot because there were briars imbedded in the rugs. There are briars everywhere around the property as well.
Lastly, there was every assortment of bug inside the house from grasshoppers, wasp, spiders, centipedes and I'm not sure how they kept getting in but there were new ones each day.
This property could be nicer very easily.
