Last minute booking to save long same day travelling. First time booking through VRBO. Totally pleased with the cottage rental. Well stocked with everything a family would need for a relaxing getaway. Spotless, quiet area. Reasonable prices.
We loved our stay here on Townsend Lake! The view was beautiful through the large windows and we enjoyed looking out at the snow-covered cedar trees. The driveway was plowed and walk shovelled upon our arrival. We were warm and the beds and couches were comfortable. The cottage was clean and well stocked with linens, kitchen supplies and other items such as board games. The sauna was a nice treat. Lovely touches in the decor - clearly a well maintained and thoughtful space.
Had a wonderful 1 week, stay at this cottage. Many great memories were made, water was not to deep, resulting in stress free exciteent for dogs and kids. Used the Paddle boards, paddle boat, etc, with ease and was in great condition, with life jackets and such available. It was great E
The stay was great. We enjoyed the lake and paddle boards and fishing in the canoe.
The location is quiet and near some small towns. Went to Hogg Falls, a short drive from the cottage. Everything you need was in the cottage for your stay. It is clean and the view is lovely. Will return!
Perfect location right on the lake with a beautiful yard! Easy access to multiple towns nearby. Information and communication from Host was clear and everything you could need is there.
Enjoyed the accommodations. Nice having the watercraft since it’s a shallow lake. Good sized yard to do games. Had campfire pit. Pretty well everything we needed in the cottage including bedding and towels and tv/internet while Olympics were on.
We stayed with 2 children under 10 and it was perfect. Cottage is clean and comfortable with lots of outdoor activities available. The kids even caught their first fish off the dock! Host was very responsive and accommodating as well.
Would definitely go again!
Perfect place to hang out for a few days. Nice set up, well looked after and well appointed with a great relaxing view of the lake. Fully on the water, but it’s December so we were content with just the views. Host was easy to communicate with and all in all an easy recommendation.
We had a great mini escape, the house is clean and has everything you would need to cook a couple meals, watch some tv before bed, but the best part is the huge yard and water access. We had a blast with the kayak and canoe, and our dog had a great time splashing around the water.
The cottage was exactly as the pictures showed and was extremely clean with no mice. The last cottage I stayed at was filthy and full of mice, I spent 3 days cleaning it. In this cottage all we had to do was unpack. Even the beds were already made for us which was heaven because we were so tired we just had to fall into bed. It was so quiet there its just what we needed to relax. All the essentials were there so the only thing we needed to bring was the food. My dad and I even cought 2 big bass right off the dock and had a fish dinner. The unlimited internet was amazing we were able to watch several movies each night. My dog loved the deck looking out and watching the chipmunks. Plenty of space for her to do her business. The only down side was the next door let her dogs run loose all the time. My dog is terrified of other dogs so was difficult when they were out. The upstairs shower was extremely slippery and i almost fell several times so next time will bring a bath matt. Joel was an amazing host and always answered my questions right away. We will defiantly be going back next year

Vacation with our dogs
The property was very pretty and the host was extremely responsive. I was hoping to swim with our dogs but the water was so shallow and weedy I ended up putting my bathing suit away. Even the dogs got tangled in the weeds at one point, which was scary. No signal for the satellite so no TV while we were there. Usually not a big deal but we had a few days of rain so stayed inside. There was Netflix etc so we ended up watching that. I found the amenities in the kitchen a little sparse but again, not a show stopper. Would I stay here again? Probably not, seriously nothing wrong with this place and it was pretty … I have just stayed at nicer places for the same price.
Property was exactly as described. Huge lot, nice fire pit, and tons of privacy. The surrounding area is a goldmine of waterfalls and surrounding lakes.
Joel is a gem of host, and made the process seamless. The wood cabin feel is always appreciated vs these modern cottages.
Probably the best kept secret less that 2 hours from Toronto!
This cottage is exactly as described! Stunning view of the water and so much property for my dog to sniff around and explore. It came stocked with board games and water activities which is appreciated and it’s close enough to town so you don’t feel stranded in case you need something! Also can’t thank the host enough for the hospitality and prompt communication!
This place is one of a kind! As soon as we walked inside, the view took our breath away. This place has everything you could need and more. We brought our two small dogs and they had a great time! They had plenty of space to run around. We took advantage of the canoe and had so much fun. The great thing about this lake house is it is bright blue so when your on the lake you can easily spot where you need to return. We had the entire lake to ourselves when we went, which was so peaceful and awesome. The host provided so much information and answered any and all questions we had promptly. We already miss this place and would definitely go back! Also, this host went above and beyond as we accidentally left an item, they made sure we got it back in our possession. Absolutely amazing experience.
We had a really wonderful experience at this cottage. It faces the waterfront and the area is very quiet and prestine. There is lots of water activities that comes with the cottage and many board games at the house to keep you entertained throughout your stay. Joel provided detailed instructions to help us plan our trip and was easy to communicate with throughout the process. I would definitely recommend the place to my friends and family.
