About the host
Hosted by Katrina
This is our family holiday property so we hope you enjoy your stay. We typically have Christmas dinner under the birch trees on the front lawn so it's a favourite family getaway for us. We are a family of 6, with our kids mainly grown up now but it's not uncommon for us to have 10+ people up on a weekend to enjoy the property. We enjoy it in both summer and winter but a favourite of everyone's is to sit around the fire pit in winter on a cool night and just enjoy watchcing the flames and catching up with friends.
Why they chose this property
The house is relatively brand new and has ever only been used as a country getaway. It is situated in a beautiful location... it provides privacy and a wonderful spot just to stop and relax - we find what most of our friends seem to enjoy doing most is sitting around the fire pit on the main lawn and enjoying the view and good company around the open fire. Having said that, it is well located to easily access all of the great facilities the Yarra Valley has to offer (e.g. wineries, walks, great restaurants, bike-riding (motor or push) and is 10 - 15 minutes from Yarra Glen, Healesville and Kinglake). You have the full 13 acres to yourself when you stay so you can also enjoy a quiet walk on the property or venture into the Toolangi state forest at the entrance to the property. We hope you'll 'enjoy the serenity' as much as we do :) Please respect our request that it not be treated as a party house... we're very happy for people to enjoy celebrating with friends (we've had a number of guests who have stayed and prepared for weddings in the Yarra Valley) but if you're looking for somewhere to party all night this is probably not the place for you.
What makes this property unique
A unique benefit of this property is that you can enjoy the 13 acres all to yourself. You are likely to find at the front of the property you may also share it with a herd of kangaroos or families of ducks on the dam but for the most part its all yours. You can also walk straight out the front door into the Toolangi State Forest. Apart from that we like to think the view from the front of the house is good enough that most people are happy to spend hours just enjoying it and re-charging your batteries.
