The place is good, homey and almost everything you need is there. The area property is beautiful, peaceful, quiet and calm.
The only thing they can improve and make sure before the guests arrive is the water pressure in the bathroom.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay!
My family and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. The surroundings had a lot to offer. Bradley was a great host. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

Thank you, Michele! I’m so glad you and your family enjoyed a memorable Thanksgiving weekend at the cottage. It was a pleasure hosting you all, and I’m thrilled to hear the surroundings added to your experience. Your recommendation means a lot, and I’d be delighted to welcome you back anytime!
We had an amazing stay over the May long weekend! The cottage was clean, comfortable, and in a beautiful, peaceful setting—perfect for a relaxing getaway with friends. The fire pit was super cozy in the evenings, and we really appreciated the kayaks and paddle boards provided by the host. Bradley was friendly, responsive, and made everything easy. We’d absolutely love to come back!
The cottage has everything you need and more. It is very spacious. We did find it somewhat unkept and wondered what the smell was in the cottage.

Hi Joanne,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and for mentioning that the cottage is spacious and well-equipped. I'm sorry to hear that your experience wasn't up to the standard we aim to provide, and I genuinely appreciate your input.
Regarding your comments on the cottage being "somewhat unkept," I’d love to understand more specifically what areas you felt needed more attention. We have never had a comment like this before and are taken back and a little shocked. We strive to keep the cottage clean and comfortable for all our guests, so any details you could provide would be helpful for us to improve.
As for the smell you mentioned, the cottage is right by a lake, and sometimes natural outdoor scents can drift in. However, if there was a particular room or area where you noticed the smell more strongly, please let me know. That way, we can look into it and address any potential issues.
Thank you again for your feedback, and I hope we can have the opportunity to host you again for an improved experience.
Our entire family had a wonderful stay. Right from the 3 year old to adults. Something for everyone. Cottage was clean, spacious and well equipped. High lights were the fishing from the dock (lots of little fish for the kids and adults even caught a couple of Walleyes. Would definitely return.

I am so glad you had a great stay. We would live to host you again.
This is a fantastic cottage with a huge property and great waterfront. We were four couples and there was plenty of space inside and out for the whole group. Note that one of the beds is on a landing with a curtain - not an issue for us but just something to be aware of. Kitchen was fully stocked. Two fridges made for lots of room for food and drinks. Awesome to have access to boats/sups. We had a great time - thank you!
My family and I had an amazing week. The lake is small, clean and great to swim in.Kearney is a cute little town with everything you need should you forget something… LCBO, general store, restaurants etc.
The cottage itself is well stocked with everything you’d need and host is great. The only downsides was the dock could use some repairs, my 5 year old daughter fell into a rotted hole a couple times, and you have to swim from the dock as it’s very weedy by the shore. That didn’t bug us at all as jumping off the dock was totally fine! We would definitely come back :)

Hi Kayla,
Thank you so much for your review and for choosing to spend your family vacation at the cottage! I'm delighted to hear that you had an amazing week and enjoyed the lake and the surrounding town of Kearney. I'm glad you found the cottage well-stocked and that you had a great time jumping off the dock.
I appreciate your feedback regarding the dock, and I want to let you know that I’ve already addressed the holes to ensure it’s safe for everyone. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention. I hope to welcome you and your family back for another fun stay in the future!
Best regards,
Bradley
My family had a great time at the lake. The property is great. Shallow entry water is great for younger children. The deeper clean water at the end of the dock was fantastic for swimming. Many outdoor activities available, boats, SOP, etc. The kids had a blast. Fishing on the lake was quite good.
The cottage was a classic family style cottage and was clean and had everything we needed. There is no AC, which we were aware of ahead of time, but there were many fans available to help get a break from the heat.
Overall I would recommend this as a great vacation spot for a family with young kids who love the outdoors.

Old house on a lovely property
Cottage Kearney is conveniently located in the village of Kearney on beautiful Hassard Lake. Our family of six adults and three young children enjoyed a week of kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing at the cottage. A large grassed area slopes down to a small sandy area beside a rustic, wobbly dock. We mostly swam from the dock as the water entry is weedy. The house is large with a nice layout for a group. However, it does need attention to a few maintenance issues and a deep clean. The main exit is through a screen door that fell off multiple times each day. The headboard in one room has a large piece of metal protruding from it. We removed the headboard to avoid injury and found that the back of it was covered in mould. Several other issues need repair that I won't detail here. The cottage would benefit from a deep clean, particularly the kitchen. Although we enjoyed our stay at Cottage Kearney, we would hesitate to stay again unless the maintenance and cleanliness issues were resolved.

Hi Jane,
Thank you for your detailed review and for choosing Cottage Kearney for your family vacation. I'm glad to hear that your family enjoyed the kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing during your stay. Your feedback is invaluable, and I appreciate you taking the time to share it.
Regarding the headboard, it's part of an old barn door made by my grandfather, complete with metal latches for a rustic look. I'm sorry to hear it caused concern, and I'll be sure to check for any mold and address any issues. The screen door, as you noted, has been a challenge. I did mention its condition before your arrival and plan to replace it in the off-season.
As for the cleanliness and maintenance issues, this is the first time I've received such feedback, and I take it very seriously. I wish you had reached out during your stay so I could have addressed your concerns promptly. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide more specific feedback on what you felt needed repair and what areas in the kitchen required a deep clean. This information will help me improve the experience for future guests.
Thank you again for your feedback and for spending your vacation at Cottage Kearney. I hope to welcome you back again and offer an even better experience.
Best regards,
Bradley
