About the area
Wiarton
Located in South Bruce Peninsula, this cottage is in the mountains and on the beach. Northern Dunes Golf Club and Cobble Beach Golf Links are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Rural Rootz Nature Reserve and Bruce's Caves Conservation Area. Power boating and fishing offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with mountain climbing and hiking nearby.
This cottage is in a beautiful location with views and access to waterfront. The cottage itself is comfortable inside with a decent kitchen and two bathrooms. The cottage itself plus decks and landscaping needs maintenance and repair. Some better cushions for the outdoor table and metal chairs as well as a new picnic table at the waterfront plus ladder to access the water from the dock would improve things significantly.
Such a great time away at this beautiful paradise:)

My family had a great time. The photo shows a ladder on the dock. There was no ladder. The property was in need of major TLC - hedges needed to be trimmed, the wooden frame over the hot tub was falling apart, the deck was in poor shape - wear shoes or you could get a splinter big enough to send you to the hospital. No air conditioning but luckily it was cool at night. The price for 3 nights was too much for the condition of the cottage. I felt bad for the neighbors. On a lighter note. Linens were clean, beds were comfortable, the kitchen was modern and well equipped. Bbq was clean and working well, hot tub worked and it was nice to have access to washer and dryer. We won’t return to this cottage but my family will be returning to the area.
We loved staying here! The rental was very clean and organized. We loved that there was a washer and dryer to clean our kids clothing during the visit. The cottage is right on the water which was beautiful especially in the morning watching the sun rise on the lake . There was ample space for us to sleep (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) and play. Upon arriving our host reached out to make sure we made it safe and that we were comfortable! We would definitely come back again!!!
Property is well described on VRBO site. Kitchen was well appointed and there was a lot of the basics available in the cupboards. Views over the Bay were lovely. Proximity to Wiarton for grabbing some ice cream worked out great. Very close to many hikes and to Sauble Beach for an afternoon outing. We have a small motor boat that we brought and the boat launch worked great.
Thank you Darlene!
Property was as shown with a couple of extras (e.g., icemaker and water dispenser on fridge.Kitchen fully stocked with essentials for cooking and BBQ. BBQ worked well. Enjoyed the hot tub. Living room very comfortable with reclining couches.
Awesome deck with a great view, complete with loons and sailboats! Very quiet area with lovely neighbours. Road in front very quiet and was great for walking and biking. Waterfront very nice.
Overall a great stay. Host very accessible and answered all queries promptly.
Great stay at this adorable rental in Wiarton. Amazing waterfront views from thr house and the dock area. The house had a great location for traveling up the Bruce Peninsula to hike, as well as around Georgian Bay to the Georgian Bay Islands Park. The house was comfortable, super clean, updated, stocked and well maintained. Everything you need for a comfortable stay was provided. The beds were comfortable and fit our family well. My teenage son loved the waterfront for putting in his Oragami paddler to paddle in the bay. Too cold to swim (early June) but great spot to launch a paddleboard or kayak or boat from the ramp on the property. The dock and ramp were awesome.
My only complaint is that the listing was a little misleading in outdoor amenities. The listing originally listed water recreation gear and when I inquired about what was available that was removed from listing. Which was a disappointment bc we brought 2 paddlers and were hoping a 3rd was available so we could all go. The house also listed a hot tub. It was one of the reasons we selected it. I was told just the week before arrival that we could not use it for safety reasons. So hottub was there, and full but we couldnt use it, and that was misrepresented and a big disappointment. I thought they might reduce the fee bc of that but they did not.
So barring the lack of hot tub and water rec gear as listed, it was an excellent stay. The house itself was exceptional. Communication with the property manager was good.
