1st trip to Dauphin Island. The house was in an ideal location on the island. Great views from the wraparound deck, and easy walking distance to eateries, shops & beach.

Overall a wonderful stay. Kitchen very well equipped and house was fairly clean, and comfy. Suggest leaving a few more garbage bags, TP, and paper towels for groups of 5. We'd do it again

Dauphin Island Deja Blue

The house has a nice, open floor plan and is decorated well. The kitchen is slightly small, but very well stocked for use. I cooked several meals while here and had no issues with not having a utensil or pan needed. The beach was easily accessible right across the road from the house down a private road. We had a wonderful week here with our family!

The place was clean and has a beautiful water view. I would give it 3 stars because there was bare minimum items such as toilet paper, kitchen utensils/ cookware and some bugs in the kitchen area. We had a hard time with the getting the internet to work and on rainy days we would have liked to use the smart TV for entertainment for our kids. There were some items that needed to be repaired such as cracks in the ceiling, and other small cosmetic damages that needed attention that would have made it closer to a 4 to 5 star rating. Overall, it served its purpose and we enjoyed our time there.

Great Location, House Needs Updates

We stayed in mid June 2024 with a party of 8. Our original VRBO was cancelled last minute and very few options were left on the island. Positives: The location was very convenient to all places and beaches to visit on Dauphin Island. The front porch view of the small marina was beautiful. The space itself was spacious for a family of 8. Eric, the Guest Contact was extremely quick to respond to all of my questions days before and while we were at the property. Well stocked kitchen appliances, utensils, towels, washer and dryer, and the essentials. Living room and patio furniture were a favorite gathering place. Very quiet neighborhood and overall family friendly. Neutral: The instructions to WiFi was not clearly communicated on email or in house, although Eric was quick to respond and we got it set up quickly. Negatives: The house needs a lot of updates, so I won't go into every one, but will highlight a few that stuck out like sore thumbs. The floors were uneven and we questiones it's stability. The porch wood seemed to be rotting in some areas. The Queen bed needs to be replaced, there was a huge pit/cave on the right side of the bed. Bathrooms need a severe facelift! Roach problem - Eric was contacted and he said a pest company will come out to treat. We loved the area and appreciated this space because of last minute cancellations from another VRBO host. However, if we return in the future, we will be staying elsewhere.

You get what you pay for

The island is beautiful and the house is beautifully decorated. However, the property is not well maintained. The grass on the property was grown up around it. When we arrived there was beach toys and items strewn about underneath the house. When we went inside, there was half empty bottles of water and soda cans found sitting in the bedrooms and the carpet areas did not look like they had been vacuumed. There is no ice maker connected to the refrigerator so it’s aggravating having to go out and purchase bags of ice every day. We also did not have any wifi service for the first 3 days we were there. All the tv’s were connected to the wifi through Roku so that was a disaster a night for our kids. Also the trash cans outside were full when we arrived on Saturday so we had no place to put our trash all week. Anything we did sit out got torn out by animals overnight and had to be picked up. Lastly, we had to deal with some type of large beetle/ water bugs inside the house the whole week. They were everywhere and they were huge. Our vacation ended up feeling like being at home and maintaining or own property than being able to just come down and relax and enjoy our time on the island unfortunately.
