Modern house/rustic charm - adjoining picturesque Lake Nanih Waiya - This cedar covered cabin is a little piece of luxury in the heart of Kiamichi Country. The house sits a couple hundred yards back, amid tall trees, surrounded by a heavily wooded tract - so expect an abundance of wildlife. It is directly across the street from the boat ramp road. Fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer and an Amazon Fire Stick for the Smart TV. All you need to bring is groceries.
If you're longing for what I call "the startling absence of man-made sound", you can get it here in a comfortable, new, stylishly earthy setting. It's also an excellent "base" for exploring the area's many beautiful attractions.
If you've never been to Southeast Oklahoma, it looks like the Alleghenies of West Virginia and Pennsylvania - or Asheville, NC. If you're researching a trip, search these key words to get a better idea: Winding Stair Case Mountains, Talimena Scenic Drive, Choctaw Council House - or if you're an Off-Road fan, check out The K-Trail of Oklahoma. It's right here. There is abundant internet lore on the perils, adventures and disasters of the K-Trail. From boulders, to bears to Bigfoot - it is NOT a casual trail. One 8 mile stretch took us 4 1/2 hours in a 4X4.
We call this house "The Fishing Cabin" because it's next to the lake and so close to Sardis Lake as well.
It's actually a modern house with city water, super quiet central air/heat & granite counters.
The town of Clayton has several restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, auto parts, tire store, liquor store, Dollar store and a hardware store. We have parking for Boats/RVs or motorcycles.
