Plenty of beds, lovely kitchen, laundry, nice spaces for games/eating, back stairs, deck, central air, fans we wanted for nothing. Took a fun night walk and my youngest even got married on the back porch (see pics) .

From the owner:"That’s awesome, thank you, and congratulations on the wedding"
The house was good overall, but I would say the listing is inaccurate. The backyard is not fully fenced in, there is only one shower and it gets hot upstairs at night. Location was good.
The listing was as stated. We had a bump to start with, but the host rectified it immediately and left us a 50 gift card to a restaurant for the inconvenience. Great location for what we had going on.

Great Location!
Slight mix up with the door code, but the host was very responsive and resolved our issue in no time! Keep in mind this is an old house, but it still had everything we needed to get ready for our wedding. Host was even kind enough to give us a late check out. Thank you Paul !!

Great Place
This place worked well for our trip. Great location! The only minor issue is that the listing says 2 full bathrooms. While it has two full bathrooms, it only has a tub (no shower) in one. Not easy to wash hair in the tub since the water comes out of an old fashioned faucet that goes straight down the side. Other than that, it was great!
Others mentioned unconventional layout, we knew that going in and were Ok with it. The house had all the amenities listed, along with new/updated kitchen and baths. However the main reasons we chose this house was a that it was pet-friendly AND a “fenced in backyard “, which was clearly listed in their “Main Features “ section of the listing. There was no gate and a large majority of the stockade fence was knocked down, making the backyard unusable for our dogs. Also, even though it was early in the season, it would have been nice to have some seating on the front or back porch. The house is very close to town, making it convenient to visit Main St in Penn Yan.

Sprawling quirky rental
Quirky House… very large and spacious but strange set up and lacking some things that would have made it nicer.
Only bathroom upstairs is off the main bedroom and with no shower. All other bedrooms connect to each other.
Bathroom downstairs seems to have been made in the laundry room.
Deck and front porch would be great with. Little furniture to sit on!
Lots of space to spread out in however which was nice with a big family.
Seems like it may be a work in progress.

Hi Rebecca, we’re sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet your expectations. After reviewing your feedback, we shared it with the homeowner, who would like to offer the following response:-We acknowledge that the bedroom layout may feel unconventional, but this is often characteristic of older properties, which tend to feature distinctive designs that reflect the architecture of their time. While it may differ from modern layouts, many guests appreciate the charm and individuality these historic details bring to the space.-As for the outdoor furniture, it was recently damaged by local wildlife and unfortunately had not been replaced before your stay. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.Thank you for your review. We value your feedback and remain committed to providing exceptional stays, as reflected in our 5-star reviews.
Great location for walking to food, shopping and dining.
Updates to this charming house were much appreciated. Plenty of lovely bath towels and the kitchen was fully stocked. Paper products were also generously provided.
Very clean and plenty of room for our group of 5. Central air conditioning was a plus; sometimes a rare find in an older house.
Appreciated that queen beds were available for the bedrooms and singles in the loft to accommodate different types of sleeping arrangements for guests.
Communication with host was very quick when we encountered a mechanical issue. Corrected immediately.
My haste in booking this house did result in missing there was only one shower, located downstairs. Upstairs en suite has a tub and toilet available. Non family members did have to descend the stairs to use the toilet at night. Not a big deal for us mobile adults, but a clarification to the listing.
The proximity to the main downtown area allowed us to walk to breakfast, groceries, dining, shopping and the Keuka outlet trail for biking.
Excellent trip for our group attending a family wedding.
We cared about location more than anything else. We wanted to be about half-way up Lake Seneca but with walking distance to a town. We really liked Penn Yan & from there, we could get to the walks and hikes we’d planned easily. The 19th century house itself has been nicely restored but there are some things that would’ve made the stay more comfortable. Specifically, more towel racks in the bathrooms, as well as places to put toiletries (shelves?), and add bedside tables on both sides of the beds. The window coverings could provide more privacy. Maybe add a chair in the bedrooms as well. Be aware that there are 2 steep staircases to the 2nd floor bedrooms. One other thought: although the massive couch in the living room is good for many folks, having another chair with a stronger upright back would be good for people with back problems. The kitchen was newly remodeled, up to date & had everything we needed to cook. All in all, it’s a nice house in a location that was great for us. Penn Yan has lots to offer: an older town with modern shops (restaurants, pottery & other arts, local wares etc.,) lots of working class history including its own walk along what was once a working canal between Seneca and Keuka Lakes. There are wineries that are a short drive away too. The house was a good center point for a week or two in the Finger Lakes.

The house was clean and had lots of charm however the upstairs AC doesn’t work well and was hot (we stayed in July) but they did have a box fan in a closet we could use. The downstairs AC worked great. The backyard was not well maintained; very high weeds, old charcoal and broken glass. The backyard is not fully enclosed. There is a large area along the house that is not fenced off. You cannot let a dog free range in the backyard unattended due to the lack of full enclosure. The house is within walking distance to the center of Penn Yan. Several pubs and eateries you can walk to. Side note: There is a neighbor a few houses up that is very against vacation renters and they have signs all over their property warning renters they are not welcome and they have alarms that screech when people walk past their house, which their house is right along the public sidewalk. We had our dog with us on our trip so we did a lot of walking in the area. Several nice residents warned us of the crazy ladies house. -“Do not linger passed her property or she will call the cops on you.” Long story short, we stopped walking our dog that direction!Overall we would stay at this house again perhaps just not in the hottest months of the year and without our dog!
