The ideal tiny house NSW retreat overlooking Porcupine Rocks, surrounded by lush green pastures in spring and pristine snowcapped mountains in the winter. Where you can enjoy winter activities such as skiing, sledding, and stargazing under Crackenback's night sky.

Here at Tiny Away, spend your lazy afternoons gazing at stunning sunsets mirrored in snowcapped mountains, and warm gentle breezes in the summer.

The Space:
Wombat Cottage is located on the outskirts of Crackenback, just 2 hours away from the nearest accommodation in Canberra. With several major tourist attractions located nearby, including Lake Crackenback, Kosciuszko National Park, Mount Kosciuszko Summit Walk, and Thredbo, one of Australia's best ski resorts. In closing, we have Wild Brumby Distillery, well-known for its gin and schnapps.

A lovely, tiny house NSW retreat with easy access to water, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. The bathroom, however, follows ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please advise that there will be other guests on the property during your stay. Wallaby Cabin, also called "Wallaby 1" sits on the same property. If you want to book in groups, you can contact the land host ahead of time to make arrangements.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surrounding areas, including trails leading to the dam, the front gate, and even the rock caves at the top of our property. Please note that : Driveway is a steep gravel road, AWD/4WD recommended but not required.

NOTICE TO ALL GUESTS: Please take note that this tiny house is an off-grid unit that runs on solar energy. We advise guests to conserve energy during the day and only use it when necessary. Overall, minimal consumption is advised to prevent power outages when using solar power. No air-conditioning facility, only heater is available

Getting Around:
By car: Sydney - 5 hrs 7 mins (477.3 km) via M31
Melbourne - 6 hrs 38 mins (564.1 km) via National Highway M31
Canberra - 2 hr 23 min (196.8 km) via Monaro Hwy/B23 and Kosciuszko Rd

By public transport: Sydney and Melbourne via bus or train to Canberra then Jindabyne.
Taxi service in Jindabyne is also available and accessible at the property.

However, guests are strongly advised to have or hire a car, as the area and property are too remote to rely on public transportation.

Other Things to Note:
Please keep in mind that check-in and check-out will be restricted due to limited access during the winter season, which runs from June to October:

- For weekday bookings, check-in would be on Sundays and check out on Fridays (minimum of 5 nights)
- For weekend bookings, check-in would be on Fridays and check out on Sundays (minimum of 2 nights)

- No smoking allowed on the property
- Heater is available to provide heat inside
- No unregistered guests or visitors allowed

- We have pet dogs on our property, but they should not bother you if you stay out of chained/roped off areas
- Please do not flush sanitary or any other waste except the toilet paper provided. Bags are provided for the disposal of these items

Safety Guidelines

- We advise guests to keep an eye on children inside as the stairs to the loft is quite steep
- Guests with infants are recommended to bring their own portable travel cot during their stay

- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- In order to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of our compost toilets a minimum additional cleaning fee is applied for stays of 5 nights or more. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a hygienic experience during your stay.
