It is a charming home with all of the character you look for in a place over 100 years old. Howe is amazing and always tries to make the place comfortable
Cabin was what we were looking for. Low historic ceiling and doorframes were part of the charm, however beware for those 5ft 8-9 or above. We loved going into Boonsboro for dinner. The cabin is very close to hiking and only a short drive to Antietam National Battlefield. Our focus of our trip was learning about the Civil War and this short stay was a perfect location to visit the surrounding sites. WiFi was strong enough for streaming documentaries in the evenings, but beware cell service is very spotty at the cabin without the WIFI.
My husband and I really enjoyed staying here. The location was great and easy to find. Our hostess named Candy was awesome and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Would stay here again for sure. :)
We wanted a place that was close to our daughter and granddaughter but still felt remote. This was the perfect place. We both love old homes and the character that makes them unique. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful. We are already planning to stay on our next visit.

From the owner: "It was a pleasure having you stay at the cabin, and we are so happy you enjoyed yourselves. We look forward to having you stay next time in town."
Nice location, quiet setting, quiet road. Boonsboro is a neat little town, still within 30 minutes from Hagerstown and Frederick. Plenty of room. Host was pleasant and professional. Watch the headspace, the beams and thresholds will get you! At least once!
This place was perfect for us. Secluded and quiet area, great history, and great amenities. It’s definitely a historic cabin and may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who are taller than around 5’9”, or those with physical handicaps. For us it was perfect. The managers were great and communicated with us any time we asked questions. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay. We would have liked to have known before hand that there was someone in the basement. That startled us because we didn't see ether note until after we saw the person.
We did not stay at all. The house had the strong smell of mildew/mold. With allergies we could not stay. Also we arrived about 1/2 hour early to check what coffee supplies to buy at the store before checking in. I knocked several times before entering and verbally called out. Was greeted by the owner fresh out the shower wrapped in towels who proceeded to tell me all the things wrong in the rental.

We want all guests to feel comfortable from the moment they arrive, and we’re sorry to hear this home didn’t meet your needs. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- Our cabin is over 100 years old, built entirely of wood, and located in a wooded setting. Like many historic properties, it has a natural scent, but we can assure guests that there is no mold or mildew present.- We thoroughly clean and maintain the home between each stay to ensure it meets our standards.- Check-in time is 4:00 PM, as stated in the listing. You arrived closer to 3:00 PM while we were still preparing the space, but we tried to be helpful and make sure you had what you needed for your stay.We appreciate your feedback, and we remain committed to providing a welcoming stay for every guest.
Our stay was great! My partner and I booked over this weekend for our first get away together. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. Fall is a good time to go, the scenery is beautiful. The owner is friendly and warm welcoming. We had a late arrival due to our drive time and Howell waited til we got in to help us settled in. Gave us a tour around the home as well. We love how there is a folder guide for what is around to explore. We adventure out to the caverns near by, markets and a hiking trail. Everything you need is already there for you. The home is is nice with some history to it. If you are not use to farmland, it is extremely dark at night. But there are lights around the front and back as well sensor lights to help with it. All and in all for us we loved and enjoyed it.

Rustic and unique
Host was very friendly and accommodating. House was stocked with everything you'd need and is rustic and cool. That said it was a little dirty for my family. Beware low ceilings. If you're taller than 5'8" you'll be ducking a lot, probably hitting your head too.

Hi Scott, We were happy you found our home comfortable and well-stocked.We take great care in making sure the home is clean and 100% guest-ready for all our guests. We also have verbiage in the listing mentioning the low ceilings so that our taller guests know what to expect. We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
The house and location were fantastic. We would have liked to have known that the owner lives in the basement, however. As 2 single women we were not happy to discover this fact after arriving. He was very nice, but because vrbo advertises that you 'get the whole house' we definitely were not expecting this to be the situation. Other than that, the house was lovely, clean and well-stocked.

Hike the Maryland AT
This is an excellent location to section hike the AT from Harpers Ferry to the Mason Dixon line. We anticipated being able to check in at 4PM, but when we arrived were told that check in was at 7PM! We negotiated to 5:30PM. The caretaker lives in the basement and is super friendly, but you can hear between the floors a bit. It was a clean space with easy access to a couple of restaurants and a grocery store. For a place to crash between our day hikes, it worked out very well.

Cute cabin
We had a fun stay in this cabin but there are a few things that I wish I had realized before I went. First is that if anyone in your group is over 5ft 8" they will be hitting their heads on the ceiling. The second is that the two bedrooms are connected and that you need to go through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom if you need to pee in the middle of the night. There were a lot of plus sides with this cabin though. The man who lives in the connected area is very sweet and helpful. If you have any issues he is more than happy to provide answers or questions. The location is beautiful! We went during fall so the colors of the leaves were fabulous. There are also a ton of things around if you are interested in hiking or historic events.
