About this property

Red Peaks - Spacious stylish house with lake views

Summary

Wake up to lake and mountain views from every room — then step outside, turn left, and catch the bus to town and ski-field in 60 seconds. Red Peaks is a warm, spacious, light-filled home at the town end of Fernhill, 6 minutes from Queenstown’s town centre and walking distance to great local cafes, fish and chips, and the Wynyard Bike Park. Ideal for families, friend groups, and anyone who wants a proper home base rather than a cramped apartment.

Important sleeping arrangement: Red Peaks comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests. For groups of 7–8, two additional single beds are available on the upstairs landing by prior arrangement. These beds are not set up by default, and the nightly rate automatically adjusts for larger groups to help cover the additional costs. Please ensure the number of guests on your reservation accurately reflects everyone staying.

Interaction

Red Peaks is managed by The Butler, a local Queenstown team with over 11 years of hosting experience and more than 1,800 five-star reviews across their properties. We’re available by phone throughout your stay and typically respond within the hour. If you need restaurant recommendations, activity bookings, or local advice, we’re genuinely happy to help — that’s what we’re here for.

Neighborhood

Fernhill is one of Queenstown’s most convenient residential neighbourhoods — close enough to walk or bus into town, quiet enough for a restful sleep. Red Peaks sits at the town end of Fernhill, which means the best of both worlds: a residential street with mountain views, and everything you need on your doorstep.

150 metres west: Fernhill Dairy, the famously good Chur Fish & Chip Shop, Lokal Kitchen & Bar, and Nest Kitchen + Bar. On a tired ski day, dinner is a two-minute walk.

50 metres east: the bus stop, with services to Queenstown CBD and the ski fields every 15 minutes.

250 metres further: Fernhill Reserve, with a children’s playground, picnic area, and trailhead access to the Fernhill walking tracks and the internationally recognised Wynyard Bike Park.

Access

Red Peaks is entirely yours. You have full private access to the house, both outdoor spaces (deck and garden), the lockable storage shed, and both parking spaces. The Butler team is available by phone throughout your stay and will respond within the hour.

The Space

Red Peaks is a warm, generous home designed for groups who want to spend quality time together. The open-plan living and dining area are genuinely enjoyable spaces to relax together in. Panoramic windows frame Lake Wakatipu and the mountains — the kind of view you keep stopping to look at while you’re doing other things.

The newly built deck extends the living space outside, with a full BBQ setup, dining table, and casual seating — all facing the view. Below, the landscaped garden gives kids room to run and guests space to spread out.

Kitchen & living

The kitchen is properly equipped for a group: full appliances, four bar stools at the island, both a Nespresso machine and a filter coffee maker, and a laundry room next door with access to the storage shed. The living room has a cosy reading nook under the stairs with a sheepskin beanbag.

Bedrooms & sleeping arrangements (sleeps up to 8)

Master bedroom (downstairs): king bed, lake views, private access to the renovated bathroom with freestanding bath.

Bedroom 2 (upstairs): king bed — can be split into two singles on request — desk with lake views.

Bedroom 3 (upstairs): king bed — can be split into two singles on request — desk with lake views.

Bonus singles (upstairs landing): Two extra single beds are available by prior arrangement for groups of 7–8 guests. They are not set up by default, and the nightly rate automatically adjusts for larger groups. Please ensure your reservation reflects the correct number of guests staying.

Ski & adventure storage

One of Red Peaks’ most popular features: a large, lockable storage shed with power, lighting, and e-bike charging — big enough for up to 8 bikes or full ski gear. No lugging boards through the house, no boots left on the doorstep. Covered off-street parking is included.

Why guests love Red Peaks:

Lake and mountain views — Views from every room

Genuinely comfortable beds — all beds are king-size (bedrooms 2 & 3 split to singles on request) with quality linen, reviewed as ‘the best sleep we had on the trip’

Spotless presentation — spotlessly clean on every stay (5.0 cleanliness score from 52 reviews)

Properly equipped kitchen — full appliances, bar seating for 4, Nespresso + filter coffee

Transport on your doorstep — bus stop 50m away, every 15 minutes, $2.50 to town or the ski fields

Dedicated ski & bike storage — large lockable shed with e-bike charging, fits 8 bikes or full ski gear

Great local food nearby — Fernhill Dairy, Chur Fish & Chips, and two great bars all within 150m

Outdoor adventures start here — Fernhill Reserve, playground, and Wynyard Bike Park all under 5 minutes on foot

Transit:

2.1 km to Queenstown town centre
4–5 minute drive or 6 minute bus ride
Bus stop one minute walk from the house
Buses every 15 minutes during the day

You can also reach town by foot, about a 30 min trip, or 8 minutes by bicycle.
