About this property
Luxury 1800s-Remodeled German Haus on PrivateRanch
Step back in time to an 1850's German Sunday House with modern amenities. The main house offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two cozy sitting rooms. Plus, the "Winzing Guest House" is a charming small cabin with a patio for seating and enjoyable games of cornhole. Embrace a unique blend of history and comfort in this delightful setting.
Step back in time and experience the Texas Hill Country in a truly unique way at this historic 1800s German-built stone house on a working ranch 9 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. The ranch offers everything you need for a relaxing and memorable vacation. Vineyards to the north, to the south, and to the east makes this a central destination for Texas wine lovers!
The main house is made completely of stone and features three bedrooms and two bathrooms which will sleep 8. Steps from the main house is a small, quaint one-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage. (On certain dates, for large groups, there is a 6-bedroom property further in on the ranch along Bear Creek.)
You can just feel the history of this property encompassing several hundred acres of hiking trails of hill country views and nature. Bear Creek Crossing got its name from the first German immigrants who came to the Fredericksburg area. It is here, along the creek that those settlers shot a bear for their first meal.
When you take a stroll, look for sea shells from millennia ago when the land was part of an ancient sea, arrowheads from hundreds of years ago when the Comanche roamed the land, and five-foot stone walls where German settlers used to keep their animals. If you are very lucky, you will find the dinosaur footprint a past owner discovered. (It has been lost to time now but if you find it, your stay is free.)
You'll also see all manner of animals including whitetail and the occasional axis deer as well as our sheep and very happy Donkey named Easel.
Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or simply a place to relax and unwind, this historic stone house is the perfect place for you to enjoy the present or imagine the past. With its charming atmosphere, stunning views, and convenient location, it's sure to become a favorite vacation spot.
This is a truly unique way to experience Fredericksburg. Book your stay at this historic German-built stone house in the Texas Hill Country today!
Please note Bear Creek Main + Barn are located on the same property.
