Authentic Generational Herring and Lobster Fishing Home with Light house Views
This recently constructed cape style home adjacent to Walter's commercial wharf with magnificent pristine, open ocean views, numerous islands including Petit Manan with working light house operating today. Relax and enjoy the panoramic view from the deck of your home of colorful buoys bobbing in the sparkle of the bay. Enjoy the sound of the shore and migratory ducks and shore birds. In the evening, catch a glimpse of the Petit Manan Lighthouse light. The experience of the quaint working harbor catching seasonal fish and lobster is all a stones throw away from you and your family as you vacation.
This newly constructed home stated in white window and ash wood with hard ash wood floors throughout includes 3 bedrooms, (2 bedrooms upstairs, 1 down) 2 baths, (1 up, 1 down), a full size kitchen featuring custom built ash cabinets, granite counter tops and state of the art high end appliances to accommodate all your culinary needs. The full size porch invites you to experience the sounds, sights and smells of the kelp and salty air first hand.
A home equipped with all the creature comforts one would need.
Working water front of the area abounds with local history and tales of the sea, the lore of adventure that continue even today and the first hand experience and culture that has been in existence here for three generations!
Located out the front door on Petit Manan Point itself is Petit Manan Point Wildlife Refuge, Downeast Conservatory's Pigeon Hill Preserve, a quiet quaint Chapel, All Souls by the Sea, built in the 30's open to guests and visitors in July and August.
A short 15 minute drive away is the one time clipper ship building town of Milbridge where you will find old sea captain homes built by the very same people who designed the great clipper ships of the area. Along with a well stocked food market that has everything you need, Milbridge has gift shops, restaurants, a number of churches, medical support, a drug store, post office, public offices, a library, and museum featuring among other things the ship building industry of the area.
A few recommendations include authentic Mexican food and Maine's number one ice cream Gifford's ice cream.

About the host
Hosted by Daniel Strout

Walter was an authentic third generation fisherman who was born and raised in the area locally.
He loved his heritage and the water. He grew up fishing with his dad beginning at the ripe old age of four.
Walter had personal and historical stories of the time and area that he would weave and share with you as he prepped for another day doing what he has done all his life; making a living from the sea!
Sadly, Walter passed in August, 2017 after a brief illness. His legacy lives on with his middle son using and operating his fishing wharf across the street from Walter's home. His eldest and youngest son are continuing to share the house with all those who wish to experience the beauty of Downeast Maine.

Why they chose this property
Walter came by this property as it was handed down from his grandfather to his dad and from his dad to him. With a strong and steely wharf and decades of fishing/lobster gear and boats, Walter is keeping the tradition going for generations to come. His son Brian is now the owner/operator of the wharf. You will see his boat, the "Sunshine Chalet" coming and going throughout the days.
What makes this property unique
With the smell of the sea, unimaginable views, and generations of livelihood running through his veins, Walter could not imagine any other place on earth he would rather be. "Paradise exists, and I've found it right here in my quiet little village."
