4/10 Poor

Yealand house
Over all the cleanliness and upkeep of vital parts of this house let it down. The fact that the furniture had rugs covering them to hid the stains isn't good enough. To leave a note saying the toilet seat was broken but not fix it and leave it like that for your guest is totally unacceptable. To have left half drank bottles of water and someone else's walking boots and stuff all over the porch isn't what we paid for.To sell the fact that you can sit outside on the decking and watch the beautiful sunset, but the furniture is rotten and broken again isn't acceptable. The owners were contacted but I still feel that some recompensation for the fact we had to clean the place before we could enjoy our weekend isn't much to ask as we left it cleaner than when we arrived.

Really enjoyed our holiday!
We had a brilliant time staying at Yealand House, was in a great location, very nice house, and loved the amount of games etc. available for rainy days. The only downside to our stay was some of the facilities. The toilet in one of the ensuites did not have a toilet seat on it which was disappointing, as well as we felt that one shower was not enough for the number of people using it. Apart from that we absolutely loved our stay as we had a lovely week and would definitely stay again.

Yealand house is in a fantastic location and the views wonderful.
Yealand House has a great location and has wonderful views . The house itself is quite odd - eg the bathroom window is into the bedroom and does not have blackout curtains so when the bathroom is used at night the bedroom is illuminated. Similarly the bedroom window is into the sitting room- equally difficult. The eating facilities are poor - a small kitchen table is inadequate for 6 to eat around. The kettle leaks- and the teapot is inadequate for 6. I was irritated that the promised multi fuel stove in the sitting room cost £50 to use and this was not advertised in the booking details, I think extra charges should be made clear at the time of booking.

Needs updating
Yealand is in a great location but its a bit tired and old fashioned. Too many ornaments and personal items for a holiday home. Enjoyed the table tennis and darts. The views from the house are wonderful. Shame the garden furniture is so uncomfortable. The house is fine for a weekend but a longer stay could be pushing it. There is absolutely no mobile service so makes it difficult if there are any problems. On the plus side having no signal gives you the chance to switch off and relax.
