About this property
Woodcock Lodge - Luxurious log cabin in Argyll
Nestled near Lochgilphead, Woodcock Lodge is a luxurious, Scandi-style retreat designed to offer couples complete privacy and comfort amid one of Scotland’s most peaceful and unspoilt glens. Although its sister lodge, Wildcat, sits 100 yards away, Woodcock remains entirely secluded. Guests can enjoy an atmospheric barbecue in the year-round BBQ hut or unwind in the private hot tub beneath a canopy of stars, with the patio softly lit by fairy lights. Inside, the lodge combines rustic warmth with modern comforts: a cosy log burner, a wide-screen smart TV with Netflix, and large windows that frame the surrounding wilderness. The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering effortless, while the inviting bedroom—dressed with luxurious linens and robes—promises restful, indulgent sleep. Woodcock Lodge is proudly dog-friendly, welcoming pets and offering plenty of space to explore and exercise. Designed primarily for couples seeking tranquility and comfort, it also happily accommodates babes in arms. Please note: an EV charger will be on site from July 2026.
Woodcock Lodge offers a luxurious, Scandi-inspired retreat in the tranquillity of Kilmichael Glen—perfect for couples and their dogs. Though only 100 yards from its sister lodge, Wildcat, it remains completely private. Inside, the warm, wood-lined interior includes a log burner and smart TV, cosy bedroom with luxury linens and robes, and fully fitted kitchen. Outside, a fairy-lit patio, private hot tub, and year-round BBQ hut create a magical setting for slow days and starlit evenings. Dogs are pampered with their own bed, towel, bowl, and treats, and our friendly resident donkeys, Sam and Rodney, always enjoy meeting guests.
The surrounding area is rich in history and natural beauty. Kilmichael Glen is known for its standing stones, ancient carvings, and atmospheric woodland trails that reveal layers of Scotland’s past. Walks here feel peaceful and immersive, with quiet paths ideal for exploring with a dog. Close by, Lochgilphead offers cafés, bakeries, and local shops, making it easy to find fresh pastries, seafood, and handmade treats. Those who enjoy barbeques can also obtain venison from the neighbouring estate. Excellent restaurants are located nearby, and a cosy pub awaits 10 minutes’ drive away.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy. The Crinan Canal provides a gentle route for walking or cycling beside drifting boats and scenic waterways. Knapdale Forest offers wildlife-rich trails to spot beavers, red squirrels, and deer beneath towering pines. For coastal views, the Sound of Jura is only a short drive away, with beaches, lookout points, and excellent opportunities for birdwatching and marine wildlife sightings.
With its blend of serenity, luxury, and access to remarkable landscapes, Woodcock Lodge offers an unforgettable base for couples seeking relaxation and adventure. For guests celebrating a special occasion, cakes, flowers and decorations can be arranged in advance of the stay to ensure a perfect welcome.

So nice to go somewhere in such lovely tranquil surroundings and sit and listen to nothing.
Lovely outside area with BBQ hut so if weather not so nice you can still enjoy being outside undercover.

Amazing place to stay!
A perfect place to get away and relax. While we were there the weather was awful but it didn’t matter. With a nice cosy log fire it was lovely. We would definitely return again, autumn would be absolutely amazing here.

Very peaceful and relaxing place to switch off
The lodge was cosy and comfortable. Everything we needed was available and more. Slept like babies, waking up to nothing but the sounds of nature outside. Lots to explore right from the doorstep. Great communication and a warm welcome from Ross. Could have stayed for weeks. Will hopefully return, and would love to see what it is like in other seasons.

Most relaxing 4 days!!
Ross couldn't have been more accommodating! Communication was great throughout and when we met face-to-face he was extremely friendly and helpful. The Lodge was outstanding. This is our second time staying but the first in one of the bigger lodges and we weren't disappointed! Lying in the hot-tub, with no light pollution... chilled out.. just what we needed.
A cozy, spacious cabin in beautiful countryside. Private outdoor space, loved the bbq hut, campfire and hottub. Easy check-in. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back one day.
