Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Any small issues we had were immediately resolved by the property manager. The villa was fine, the only small comment would be that it was looking a little tired when compared to the website pictures so expectation should be managed. The pool was cleaned twice a week which was needed, so excellent. No major issues though. Previous reviews have stated about ant problems but as long as you seal all open food the problem goes away. The villa is a 35 minute walk to the main Playa Blanca centre, a 7 minute electric scooter right or a 4 minute taxi ride. For summer 22 the taxi cost was €4.70 from centre taxi rank to villa in the evening and around €3.79 during the day. Overall an excellent holiday.

Disappointed
Arrived 10pm, gate intercom/code was broken- little confusing, had to walk down to find property. Keys in key safe as stated; doors to property very stiff, only my husband had the strength to open on the inside.
First impressions seemed okay yet it was soon apparent dogs were a major issue around the area as the barking continued until late at night and started again at 6am. Dogs all round the property including 2 behind the villa. This barking continued through our whole stay and drove us crazy- informed owner who apparently has never had an issue before- Find this incredibly hard to believe as it was constant every day and night. We found the property not to an appropriate standard particularly for the money we paid. To list a few problems;
mouldy blinds in front bedroom, owner failed to comment on this when issue raised. We found this unnaceptable especially with children sleeping in there.
Mouldy bed sheets in main bedroom. messaged owner who argued it was impossible but after a photo agreed it was so arranged a replacement which was thrown on our bed whilst we were out. Went to change it over on the night Opened out and had a huge tear across it and smelt awful so was unusable.
Dishwasher not working rinse aid and salt empty, took us a few days in the get this filled. Chips in a lot of the cups/glasses and plates. Lots of insects particularly in main bedroom around the cracks in jacuzzi. The toilet we was awful it is patched up in many areas (pipework/tiles) it had an awful smell in there all week and a broken toilet seat.
Iron not working. Had to ask for a few things missing; sweeping brush/bath mat
Pool had a green ring all around the water line upon arrival- this was seen to promptly by the owner. We were told it had been cleaned prior to our arrival after a few days in she sent the pool cleaner back for a second time who fully cleaned it out overnight. It then finally looked clean and full, how it should have been upon arrival. More issues but not enough space to write them all!
Generally for the money we paid we were rather shocked at the standard.
We felt we paid a little more for something that looked ‘perfect’ for us but we felt it wasn’t up to standard at all. Owners response to list of issues was rude, accused of attempting to get money back as she said that’s the reason why people make these complaints! And then told ‘we got what we paid for-enjoy!!!’
PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS VILLA, TERRIBLE!!

We had “daily” contact on a decent way until the day I asked you to please take away the accumulated garbage of a few days attracting animals and to use the pool table on a normal way and not have the sticks standing up in sockets. I also asked to shower before using the pool as the grease was extremely markable on the water line. Surprisingly you find a nice way to complain about this. Like people believe that pool cleaners work during night on Lanzarote?
Every complain you made, within the hour we were at the villa to arrange things. My cleaner forgot indeed to put salt in the dishwasher but within the hour you had a huge pack of salt and rinse.
Dog barking was the main problem, but there are no dogs in the direct villas around, you said it was true that it was houses away and notified me that you went out all day, but complained dog barking from 9.00 till 23.00h. It was also your time to tell me you had no budget to go out all day. The next day you had construction works going on in the villa next door? Again we went to check and didn’t see you in the villa, neither did we hear any dog barking or construction work. After the change over of linen you complained about 1 duvet cover, which we replaced for you, again you were not in the villa, but luckily we came as you were so nice to have the pool over flooded with water?! The water hose was put in the pool while you left the villa for the day and the terrace was over flooded with water. Water is very rare and expensive in Lanzarote, and you wonder why the villa has his price? Because of guests like you....
Also at check out I arranged my partner to come and pick up your suitcases as you had a late flight and I had new guests arriving early but at 10am you were already gone? You didn’t want to meet him again after over flooding the pool?
You also didn’t mention to me you broke the toilet seat and chipped loads of plates. But nice to use this as a complaint.
I am always open to real critics as we put a lot of work and money in the villa to give our guests a great holiday.
But to have guests saying that after 10 days they didn’t notice that the front door doesn’t need force to open, but that, to protect children going out alone, you need to turn it against the clock to open.
Not everybody is suitable to rent a villa as you said you preferred a hotel next time, but don’t try to steal our income with these lies. It’s a pity I can’t post fotos of the villa during your stay! Disgusting!

About the host
Hosted by Anissa de Wijs
Me, Sandra and my partner, David live for 12 years on Lanzarote. Original born in Belgium and my partner in Salamanca, Spain. We live ourself on 5 km of the house. We bought Villa Perla Blanca in 2011 and completed the renovation ourselves (we have a construction company) with the idea to give our guests a magnificent holiday in a relaxing area. Not only the design was important but also the villa needed to be easy to use. We did the same with Villa Sandra in the same estate which is also available for rental up to 6 people. Besides that I do some interior design work for other rental houses. I work voluntary for the Dutch consulate and the ANWB, an insurance company, to help foreigners when they have problems during their holidays. (Like translating in the hospital when people get ill)
Why they chose this property
We bought this property from the bank in a terrible state in 2011. We renewed it completely, starting with electricity, windows, pool, kitchen, bathrooms, .... We have lived ourselves for 3 years in this villa before we bought another smaller one to live in and put this one in rental. In the mean time we had loads of happy guests. And are we still working hard to keep the villa updated to the high level we want to offer.
What makes this property unique
Most guests are impressed by the view from the villa. When you enter the complex you don't expect to find such a spacious villa with a great pool area and amazing views to the mountains of Femes. Guests love the way 2 bathrooms are integrated in the bedroom, like your private suite in the villa. Perfect villa to share with friends.
