About this property
Historic Downtown Carriage House
This upstairs apartment is in a classic looking 1920's stone carriage house in a prime location in center of historic downtown Flagstaff. The property is entirely enclosed with a quaint lighted stone and cedar wall with free off-street parking, stone fire pit and sitting terrace, trees, seasonal flowers and vines, and grassy lawn (Please Note: they all lose their foliage during winter months. Yes, some guests have asked why the landscape color is gone in the winter time ... :). You'll be within just a few minutes walking distance to dozens of shops, restaurants, nightlife, and public transportation. It's warm, cozy, secluded, accessible - youâll love my place because of the ambiance, the location, and the lighted enclosed exterior and fire-pit stone terrace. This is a perfect place for all types of travelers and activities.
This malapai stone house is a perfect mix of classic and modern, with warm wood interiors and modern updates, including hydronically heated wood floors and a freshly remodeled bathroom. The kitchen is original with a few aesthetic improvements, and the queen bed is new and comfortable. In addition, the entire house is on a charcoal filtration water system.

Jac is an incredible host and offers a great and cozy place in downtown Flagstaff. Our stay was very comfortable. All rooms were clean. The check in process was straight forward and the check out was even easier.
Interesting place. Well kept. Clean. Please note, it is an upstairs apartment in the ownersâ home. I was not aware of this until we came to the property.

Iâm sorry you were not aware that the apartment is upstairs Lisa, however, itâs in the first line of the property description :-) Iâll try to be more clear that I also live on the property.
A really lovely apartment, beautifully furnished. The host is gracious and friendly and my wife and I had a very good time. Off-street parking, walking distance to the. most interesting parts of Flagstaffâs historic center. (Note: you climb a flight of stairs to get to the apartment, which is on the second floor.)
The accommodations were as stated & the host took time to personally introduce us to the amenities.Nice location for walking to downtown which was nice with different shops & restaurants.
Joe gave us a tour of the property when we arrived and made sure we have everything we needed including providing a secure indoor location to store our mountain bikes. We were 6 minutes from the museum of northern Arizona and 8 minutes from the Schultz creek trail system (beautiful) the home was clean, comfortable and we wished we were staying longer.
Lovely early 20th century apartment. Very nicely decorated. Extremely clean. The owner met us promptly with the key and responded promptly to requests. It is adjacent to old downtown Flagstaff and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. Thanks for everything.
Upon arrival, I was given a tour of the historic cottage house. The house was very clean and parking was super easy. We were close to downtown and several great restaurants. We enjoyed stay and plan to stay here the next time we visit Flagstaff.
It was such a lovely charming place to stay! A nice blend of the historic building's charm and updated in practical ways, and the location is absolutely fantastic, within nice short walking distance of many good places in downtown Flagstaff, but not overly close to the highway either. The host was very helpful and accommodating when meeting to go over things initially.
My name is John, but I go by Jac. I grew up in Upstate New York, but I've lived and worked in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona for over 40 years. Iâm retire from my job in Astrogeology for the U.S Geological Survey (solar system research and mapping). It was a great career in a great place. I have four grown children, all boys. They are the center of my world! I love outdoor sports, adventure, and travelling to meet new people and see new places. I hope my road takes me to you, or yours takes you to me! Cheers!
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood is the old residential west side part of Flagstaff. However, it's also right on the edge of the downtown district and in easy walking distance to everything the city has to offer. City Hall, Wheeler Park, and the public library are just one block away; Northern Arizona University is seven blocks to the south; Flagstaff High School is two blocks north; and Lowell Observatory, Thorpe Park, the local softball fields, and one of Flagstaff's famous disc golf courses are just six blocks to the west. In addition, Basha's grocery store is six blocks up Humphreys Street. This is a classic property in a classic location!
