About this property

Bonito - a bungalow that sleeps 3 guests in 2 bedrooms

Bonito is situated in Ventnor with panoramic sea views. The bungalow can sleep 2 adults and 1 child and comprises of open plan lounge/kitchen/dining, the large bay window has outstanding sea views, shower room, double bedroom, and small second bedroom with 6ft single bed there is also a side conservatory with seating. Relax and enjoy the sea views from the decking to the front of the property or enjoy the tiered garden to the rear with terraces and seating and from here you can still enjoy the stunning sea views. The property also benefits from parking through a 5 bar gate at the front of the property (please use the drive area in front and adjacent to the garage and not in the slip road leading to it)

This Victorian seaside town offers buildings full of character and is one of the sunniest spots on the Island. There's lovely sand/shingle beach and an esplanade which is all within a short stroll from the cottage. In addition to the main shopping street where you will find a selection of small supermarkets to include a Co-op and Tesco Express, there are parks and gardens, museums and the Winter Gardens - an entertainment venue with a growing reputation for its theatre, its concerts and comedy and dance shows.
There are a number of great restaurants in Ventnor or if you fancy a take-away to enjoy by the beach, the Ventnor Haven Fishery on the Esplanade sell fantastic fish & chips, locally caught and prepared to order.

Ventnor Botanic Garden lies in the remarkable microclimate at the heart of the famous 'Undercliff.' This unique garden is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs. In addition to enjoying the lovely gardens, it also hosts events and exhibitions and there is a restaurant and Cafe on-site for refreshments; lunch or coffee and cake!

From the esplanade you can take the level walk, along the sea wall to Bonchurch, or walk along the cliff path towards Steephill Cove, a beautiful sheltered bay only accessed by foot.

Great Location

Had a fabulous stay. Perfect location, lovely views, all our needs catered for. Would have liked WiFi and the toilet to be larger but realise the confines of an older bungalow. Otherwise perfect, even had a badger visiting nightly, wonderful to watch.

What a beautiful view and a lovely, comfy and tidy home

We had a lovely stay at Bonito. It's in such a beautiful location too. The facilities were excellent. Yes the shower is small and the bed a bit hard but you can't please everyone and it does the job. We were so pleased with our stay and the response from Island homes was quick and helpful. Thank you for having us.

stunning location

Mature but beautifully maintained small bungalow in a stunning location above Ventnor. Access would be difficult for people with disabilities as there are steep steps. Parking would also prove difficult for some because of the slope.

Autumn stay at Bonito

As usual Bonito was very welcoming, the flowers and biscuits appreciated. The view is magnificent and the living area makes the most of this. Appliances all work well and the heating is so easy to manage. We find the bathroom area a little cramped but the position and view more than compensate. It was an advantage having a regular bus route so close by enabling linear walks rather than circular.

A fair climb up to Bonito

We absolutely loved the front window and the telescope provided Did find the WC and shower a little tight I must admit the doors and hallway reminded us of a caravan Main bedroom would have benefitted from a decent size mirror over the drawers and a second bedside lamp Loved watching the rabbits in the well kept garden from the bed Enjoyed meals on the front decking

Bungalow

The bungalow was spotless and had plenty of equipment. The photo does not show how extremely steep access is. Also the shower room and toilet were much to small they it would have been better to have been knocked into 1 room. Closing 1 door off and removing 1 sink. If you were on the larger size you would not be able to shut doors. The other rooms were fine. The flowers and shortbread biscuits were a lovely touch.

Fresh and clean with fantastic views

Bonito was spotlessly clean and tidy when we arrived. It has amazing views over the sea and is in a great location .... unless you don't like hills! It is quite a walk to the shops. We hadn't realised before we arrived that the bungalow is not a brick building, it is like a mobile/park home structure. Not a huge problem, but it does mean it gets very hot inside in warm weather and some rooms and doorways are quite small. Don't let this put you off though, we would certainly go again.

Enjoyable stay!

We enjoyed our stay and location the only downside was the amount of steps and the parking area. .which would put us off returning.

Lovely home

Really nice location with stunning sea views. Bungalow is really clean and comfortable. Visitors should note that the steps from the drive to the bungalow and from the bungalow to the garden are very steep, however you are rewarded with those views! The bungalow is well equipped and we had a lovely bunch of flowers and shortbread to welcome us on our arrival, oh and a pint of milk in the fridge!

Beautiful views!

We stayed at Bonito for 8 days, the views are breathtaking, the property was airy and clean and perfect for us as a small family. The wild goats on the downs behind the garden popped to say hello! Gardens are beautiful and well maintained, would definitely stay again !

Lovely view!

We had a lovely week at Bonito, the view is fantastic and plenty of space in the accommodation. Lots of nice touches - board games /DVDS, and the kitchen was very well equipped. Only negative was the gate to park took a bit of getting used too, and it is a long way down to the sea - but that is more than made up for by the first class view.

Amazing location and views

We had a great stay at Bonito, the booking process and communication was well organised and we had great service. We arrived late in the evening but check in was easy, using a key safe for which we’d been provided with all the information. There is off road parking inside a gate, a bit of a walk up the hill to the property but the path is really well lit with lights on sensors. Bonito had everything we needed for a week’s stay, just the right amount of space for a couple or couple and one child. The second bedroom is quite small with a small bed but ideal for a child. The best feature is of course the view from the huge picture window at the front! Very enjoyable looking out at the English Channel at all times of the day but especially with a cup of tea in the morning. All the amenities you need are provided, overall it was clean and tidy but there were a couple of areas which look like they’d been missed and could do with a more thorough clean (dusty bedroom lamp, a few cobwebs but nothing major). There is a lovely terraced garden at the back and sun deck at the front which we unfortunately didn’t get to really make use of due to the weather but are lovely to have. I’ve scored slightly lower on comfort as we found the bed to be a bit too firm (a mattress topper would be a great addition), and the sofa wasn’t really that comfortable to sit on in the evening when our son had gone to bed, but as you don’t go on holiday to sit on the sofa for long periods I don’t think this is too much of a problem! The location in Bonchurch is great, obviously with sea views, and it was about a 20 minute downhill walk into Ventnor (uphill on the way back but Bonito is on the bus route and the Chinney Steps stop is a few hundred yards away). There is an amazing pub just down the hill called the Bonchurch Inn. There’s also Smuggler’s Haven Tea Garden just down the road but we didn’t get chance to visit that. Overall, a great holiday and we’d recommend the accommodation and would stay there again for a future visit!

We had a great stay at Bonuto. The house is well equipped with everything you need. The views are amazing and it was lovely to sit outside and watch the sun. Compact but lovely

Quiet, hilltop holiday home with extensive grounds and sea views. No internet. Had to go everywhere by car and we found the gates on the drive an inconvenience. They were not easy to operate. Overall a lovely holiday home.

Ideal for couples

Overall we were very happy with our stay. Bonito is a small bungalow in a elevated position with wonderful sea views from the panoramic lounge window. Ideal for two adults; the second bedroom is quite small and possibly only suitable for a child. Double bed very comfortable and room adequate but not large. All furnishings are simple but tasteful and the kitchen is well equipped. The shower room and toilet are separate but both rooms are tiny; reconfiguring this into one space would be beneficial. The lounge/diner is spacious, light and welcoming. The outside space is attractive and offers different places to sit and relax, however be aware that due to its elevated position the gardens have many steps and slopes so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Damsons and rhubarb were available in the garden when we stayed. Having private parking is a real asset. The wooden gates are heavy so beware of gusts of wind! The only thing missing for us was Wi-Fi. Most holiday lets have this and we failed to check that it would be available; something to consider as the roaming signal was very limited. Overall Ventnor is more attractive than nearby Shanklin and Sandown, and has good routes to the rest of the island.

Great view, very nice garden

Enjoyed stay, very good views of the channel from the sitting room. Loved sitting in the garden , saw a red said and goats and cattle on downs. Property had everything we needed for our holiday. Was in walking distance of Ventnor. Only problem was my partner who is over 6ft kept bumping his head on the low door frames and found the shower room was just too small to be comfortable.
