The Monti district in Rome is the district of art galleries and wineries. After a long phase of urban reorganization it is today the mecca of all the young tourists traveling in the capital. It borders the Rome of the Fori Imperiali and the Esquilino quarter. A few steps from the neighborhood there are the magnificent basilicas of Santa Maria Maggiore with its characteristic Cosmatesque floor and the one of San Pietro in Vincoli which houses Michelangelo's famous Moses. Via CavourFra two major road arteries, the Via Cavour and the Via Nazionale, contains the Suburra, the ancient district "Sub Urbe" - below the city -, whose basements emerge at the Colosseum. Its bad roads are made of cobblestones, and its alleyways at night are breathtakingly beautiful. And the whole neighborhood revolves around the little square of Madonna dei Monti, with the characteristic Fountain of the Catechumens designed by the architect Giacomo della Porta, which is the main meeting place for both inhabitants and tourists. Locals in the area cross the streets without sidewalk but this also contributes to its charm. Gourmet shops and slow food restaurants dot the streets, but the wineries have sustainable prices. In Monti there is Stecchiotti, the butcher of the Presidents of the Republic: Ciampi and Napolitano. And there is via del Boschetto, the street of Rome with the largest number of restaurants per square meter.
The apartment is located a few steps from the underground line B, Cavour stop and a few blocks from the Termini station, reachable on foot. I will provide a map of the city of Rome and all the advice on restaurants, bars, museums, etc.
