The Periwinkle is a quaint, marine style, seaside residence located between the beach and the harbour in Duncannon. Duncannon is situated on the Hook Peninsula, where there are numerous sandy beaches and many historic sites. Our house is located just a couple of hundred metres from the beautiful strandand there are also a couple of lovely pubs and restaurants along with the historic fort all within this little village. There is a spiral staircase in the house which can cause inconvenience to some guests and we apologize in advance and please don’t book with us if this may be a problem!

My family and I had the most wonderful week staying in The Periwinkle in Duncannon. The village has everything - pubs, restaurants, shop, bakery and cafe - within walking distance of the cottage, which in itself is a quirky delight and provided us with all the amenities we wanted, providing us with the perfect base for a little exploring of Wexford's amazing countryside. We will definitely be back! Thank you Walter and Jessica, Thelma and Louise for a lovely stay!
Perfect location for a peaceful break. Jessica and Walter are great hosts, so friendly. Our accomodation was good for us, we are fit. However as Jessica and Walter say, the staircase may challenge people less prople
This is a charming, immaculate property in a quaint village with nice restaurants. The bedrooms are only accessible by spiral staircase which is suitable for fit adults and older kids. The master has low ceilings. Large kitchen. Ferry to Passage East is the easiest route to Waterford. Short walk to beach. Free parking on street. Charming and affordable.
We boften enorm met het mooie weer en daardoor een prima plek om te verblijven.
We hebben alles gevonden wat we nodig hadden.
We hebben veel kunnen fietsen, wat erg plezierig was
Excellent location between harbour and beach, grandchildren liked the quirkiness of the property. Parking a bit difficult on the road when busy and a washing machine would have been more useful than dishwasher, especially after water-based activities. Fairly well equipped generally.
Nice large rooms (we liked the paintings and ornaments). But the advertised five star rating was very misleading as the gas, plumbing and electrics were suspect if not dangerous, particularly the hob and bare wiring. (Surely certificates should have been available). No smoke or carbon monoxide detectors in use in kitchen. Broken drawer handles, chipped mugs, leaking wc cistern, defective hot taps, scalding shower, uncovered light fittings (one was fixed whilst we were there). Oven, some kitchen implements and bedding were not clean (no can opener grater etc). We had no prior instructions on how to find the property, how to turn on hot water etc. Helped out by neighbour.
