All good, nice property in the Wexford countryside. We were there only for two nights so did not get to fully appreciate the garden and surroundings as we were seeing relatives in the areas. Great communications with Kate the owner. Only slight issue was that on arrival on a very cold day, the heating had not been put on - and we recognise that it was an oversight. By the morning, the house was warm and comfortable.

Perfect start to our Ireland trip!

Lovely stay in Wexford

A very authentic cottage stay in Wexford with great amenities and thoughtful details. Very comfortable and cozy with a well appointed kitchen and lovely garden with everything you could want. We were visiting family in the area and it was very centrally located to all the Wexford attractions, while very quiet and rural. A great vacation stop.

mazing. From start to finish. The house is comfortable and very well equipped. The garden and outdoor area is great. Charcoal bbq and fire pit are an added bonus. The swings and outdoor grass was thoroughly enjoyed by my 3 sons. Location is good for exploring in all directions. Kate is a superb host. Quick to answer anything that came up. We dined outdoors most nights as the weather was great for our stay. Cannot see how anyone wouldn't be enchanted by this place. Thank you for a wonderful holiday

We had a wonderful stay at Scar Bridge Cottage. Right after booking, Kate, the owner, reached out with a detailed list of local sights, walking routes, and restaurant recommendations. Her tips were incredibly helpful and made planning our trip easy — it truly felt like the holiday had already begun before we even arrived. The cottage itself is peaceful, full of charm, and perfectly located for exploring the surrounding area. Do keep in mind that cooking facilities are limited unless you're used to using an AGA stove, so we’d recommend planning to eat out or keep meals simple.Kate’s warm and thoughtful approach made us feel very welcome, and her local advice added so much to our stay. We’d absolutely recommend Scar Bridge Cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing break with a host who really goes the extra mile.

Country Cottage - Fully Equipped - Picturesque

Kate was a gracious host. She communicated extremely well with us, gave us all the information we needed for a nice stay. The cottage is a classic Irish home with a sunroom, snug, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. On the property are several interesting out buildings and a place for the dogs to run. The heating, water, water pressure were all great. We enjoyed our stay.

We had a very short stay at the cottage, it was spotless, we enjoyed the peace and quiet and sitting by the fire in the evening, our only issue we had is the shower, the water doesn't stay hot for long but other than that it was perfect, location was so quiet it was great. Scar Bridge Cottage - Wonderful

We were looking for a taste of the Irish countryside and got everything we were looking for here. The property has a large backyard with a brook running through it. There was also a nice picnic table, fire pit and charcoal grill. The proximity to Kilmore Quay and Johnstown Castle was wonderful. Wexford wasn’t that much further either. In all it was charming, peaceful and we really enjoyed our stay.

Myself and 5 other family members had a two night stay here, we all loved it's cosiness, beds were so comfortable, bed linen, towels etc were perfect. Lots of extras there in case you forgot anything. Ample and safe garden space for our dogs to run around. Ate in Mary Barry's restaurant which provided courtesy bus , food was so good, also the highlight of our time away was the Saltee sauna at kilmore quay, First time for us and wnt be the last. Shabby and needing a complete refurb

If your taste is on the eclectic side and you don’t mind the almost daily bathroom visitor of slugs or spiders amongst the mould growing in the bath then this may be the Cottage for you. In need of major renovation and modernisation this ‘rustic’ house/cottage wouldn’t suit all tastes and barely fits in with the stunning properties within the area. The ‘staged’ photos on the website do not reflect the true decorative state of this property and were very misleading. The advertised ‘great Wi-Fi’ didn’t work for us although the owner did try several ways of rectifying this but after four days we decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of trying to get Wi-Fi. We felt this house wasn’t up to our normal even basic standard and taste and therefore left the property several days earlier than planned.

Our view is that overall self catering was not a good holiday choice for these guests and we regret they chose our cottage . Their review is different in every category to our previous guest reviews - including the recent reviews from the past weeks and months , which are 5 star reviews reporting a clean , well maintained property , accurately described , in a good location with a helpful host . It is simply not possible it changed so much in just a few days since previously reviewed . We are rated “Premier Hosts “ the top accolade on this platform which requires consistent 5 out 5 star guest reviews over a prolonged period . Our experience with these guests was not good : They arrived later than expected so used our self checkin .After their arrival at the cottage I received a phone call advising they had been delayed at customs and taken a wrong turn . I asked them if they were happy all was well at the cottage and they told me just they could not connect to our WiFi . I had been at the cottage earlier that day and used the WiFi .I asked them to try turning the modem off and on again. I followed up on this , confirming from our provider that there was no fault and tried to phone /message them on several occasions over the following days without response before they eventually answered that they “weren’t bothering with WiFi” . I had no further communication from them until a few days before their planned checkout they sent a message to say they had already left , stating simply they decided to get an earlier ferry . On our inspection after their departure we discovered: * The Wi-Fi was working ,they had simply turned off the Wi-Fi button on the modem. * The guests had allowed their dog on the couch and to sleep upstairs - we welcome pets on condition they remain downstairs and off the furniture. This is a house rule . * One of the gates on the driveway had been knocked from its post at some time during their stay .Guests are required to advise us if damage /breakages to the property during their stay We expect guests to abide by our house rules .Their early departure prevented us the opportunity to have a checkout inspection with them . As regards the photos which they claim are “staged”: They are just normal photos to show the cottage rooms and garden areas so guests can decide before booking if it’s to their taste .All previous guests have noted photos to be accurate . These guests clearly prefer a different style so we are very confused as to why they booked it . We are disappointed they did not comply with our house rules , failed to report damage caused to the property .we cannot recommend them to other hosts and refute this review .

Perfect cozy winter stay :)

We had a wonderful cozy Christmas week at this lovely characterful property. We arrived to cute Christmas decorations, coffee and biscuits in the kitchen and even a stocking loaded with Christmas candles and chocolates. So incredibly kind and thoughtful. Well-stocked kitchen and Kate had thought of everything making it possible for us to whip up a full Christmas dinner. We enjoyed a great DVD Collection, games nights by the fire and I can see that in the summer the garden by the little river would be just fantastic. Bedrooms were very comfy and Kate had electric blankets for us. Lovely bathroom, plenty of hot water and good shower pressure. Pretty country views from all rooms. We loved the nearby coastline and beaches…even in December. Stunning views and walks…even saw whales just off shore. Amazing. Cliff walk to Hook lighthouse was lovely and of course you’re never far from a lovely pub. Also loved our day in nearby Wexford, cute shopping streets, good restaurants and we enjoyed a Christmas show at the National Opera. A truly special and enjoyable family week and despite it being right over Christmas, our lovely host was always quick to respond to any question I had. 5 stars, for sure. Thank you Tormey family.
