Large seaside family home (new games room) coastal path Elie and St.Monans Fife
A thoughtfully designed, spacious 3 bedroom house with a new games room. Situated along the Fife Coastal path between St.Monans and Elie it has wonderful views of Newark Castle and the coast. Private, peaceful, extremely well equipped and environmentally friendly!
The space
Newark Castleview is a spacious, contemporary and energy efficient home with stunning sea views situated beside the ruins of the 16th century Newark Castle. We receive much feedback from our guests, many of them returning anually, who find themselves more than content with staying close to their 'home from home'; enjoying the walks along the beaches or sitting upstairs gazing at the incredible views. It is peaceful and secluded yet easily accessible.
The house was a labour of love; designed and built by us, using sustainable energy systems, locally sourced materials and labour when possible and furnished to a high and comfortable standard. We aimed to make the most of the idyllic location, to utilise the space and to make it enjoyable for all of our guests, young and old. The ground floor in particular is ideal for those with mobility difficulties; the front door to the house has wide, easy access and two of the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor, as well as the open plan kitchen and living room.
Guest access
Perfectly positioned with direct access to the very well maintained Fife coastal path which leads to St. Monans (5 mins walk) and Elie (30mins walk) allowing guests to enjoy some of the most beautiful coastline in Fife. It is a 5 minute walk down to the nearest beach. This is an ideal base from which to explore the delightful East Neuk of Fife; Elie, St.Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther and Crail. There are also numerous championship standard golf courses in the area (Kingsbarns, Lundin Links, St. Andrews) making it a golfer's paradise.
With private, off street parking.
Interaction with guests

Great holiday home with excellent facilities and some lovely extra touches. The views out to sea are outstanding and there are plenty of places to visit nearby if you can tear yourself away from the wood burning stove.
Large, comfortable and well equipped cottage in an enviable location with spectacular views. A great place for the family to come together, and with 3 en-suite bedrooms, each couple can have their own privacy.

We had a lovely stay in St Monans and enjoyed the location and property. The property is well equipped and has a lot of living space where you can relax and enjoy the wonderful views. The games room was well used too. We would suggest that the photos are a little out of date specifically the balcony and outside areas.
This home was the perfect place for us! We were blown away by the stunning views of the ocean, and the quiet, peaceful surroundings. It was an easy distance to St. Andrews, and our many golfing outings (Carnoustie, Dumbarnie, Lundin Links, Ladybank, etc.We also spent time in Anstruther at the par 3, and then went downtown on the wharf for drinks and food. I would highly recommend this VRBO. We are already thinking about our next trip back!
We have been to this house twice before and loved it we had a great holiday, amazing house, very comfortable, with great views,, we will be back again Thank you Fiona for having us. Regards Alison
This was a wonderful property, tucked away on the outskirts of St Monans but within easy walking distance to the town. Very spacious, perfect for our group of 5, toasty warm and well equipped. Great location for exploring all the wee coastal towns and a short drive to St Andrews. Overall a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful house in fabulous location. Had everything we needed, was very warm and cozy. Grandchildren loved the games room.
So quiet and peaceful. Would highly recommend .
He property is in a superb location for those looking to explore the Neuk of Fife. Beautiful area and the views from the property itself are amazing.

A really well designed holiday house in a great location
An absolutely super house to stay in; perfect location so close to the coastal path; lots to do and see round about.
Very well equipped house (but it would benefit from some maintenance). This did not spoil our holiday however and we would love to return.
We stayed at the house as part of a golfing week. The house was in a perfect location, very spacious and comfortable. Will definitely return at some point
Great location, fabulous house with plenty of private room for all the family. Even though the weather was awful the Games Room was a great bonus which kept the kids occupied. Would love to return in good weather to take advantage of the garden, lovely decking and veranda overlooking the beautiful sea views
We all had a wonderful stay,, house was just as we expected, clean, comfortable and accessible to the East Neuk Path.
I wish we could have stayed on another few nights.
Thank you soo much for allowing us to spend time in your beautiful house.
Will definitely be back 💕

Thank you Carol, we really appreciate such a lovely review. I hope we can host you again some time soon! Thanks again.
The house is large and clean with comfortable seating and the MOST AMAZING VIEW. The Fife Coastal Path is right down the lane and you can easily walk to dinner or to the farm shop. Well appointed kitchen, fast and reliable wi-fi, and filled with artists renditions of the castle ruins and the sea. We had such a lovely time and all of our communication with Fiona was prompt and helpful.
Booked cottage to celebrate a big birthday with family. Lovely house, spacious warm and very well equipped, very inviting even in February! No complaints at all. Beautiful area to explore even in my own home county. Would def recommend, no hesitations whatsoever.

Thanks for such a lovely review. Really glad you had a great time celebrating your special birthday xx
Had a lovely time. The warmth on entering was very welcome. Small issue on arrival which was solved efficiently and swiftly. Excellent communication with and from the owner. One tiny thing - grill pan/oven could have been cleaner but house has everything you need for a lovely break.
We had a wonderful time here. The whole house is very warm and comfortable but the games room was an unexpected bonus (we knew it would be there...we just didn't expect to use it...but from now on we will only look for properties with games rooms as it was SO much fun!). The Coastal Path is perfect for short and long walks - but we should have taken our wellies for the short walks into town as it was very muddy after the recent storms.Overall, fantastic!
We stayed at Newark View over New Year with friends. We regularly holiday together in self catering accommodation and Newark View is among one of the most spacious we have stayed in. delightful location and we just loved watching the sunrise from the balcony. We know the area well but still found new things to explore- enjoyed a stroll around St Monan’s with its lovely harbour and church.
Elie beach is always a delight and the coffee at the Ship among the best- but Bowhouse bakery great too.
Even in depths of winter Newark View a delight. Might have to return in the summer!
We travelled over from New Zealand to stay here and loved the location . A great new spot of the east neuk for us to explore . This was perfectly located a five minute walk from st Monans and right on the coastal path for walking and running . The two large living areas on the different floors were perfect for adults and teenagers . Plus the games room for rainy days . The kitchen was like a home from home with everything you needed . The upstairs deck was stunning at night watching the lighthouses and boats on the firth of forth. Thank you for letting us stay .
The house is in a great location. A weekend away with a group of friends. Six of us.
Great open plan social space downstairs with seating , big dining room table and kitchen.
One of the group had accessibility requirements. Layout meant they could stay in the downstairs part of the house and had the bedroom with step in shower.
Went to Bowhouse market on the Saturday, elie for lunch and a lovely walk to st monans.
Lovely to watch the light disappearing from the upstairs window and have morning tea on the balcony.
