About this property
West Bothy, Attadale Holiday Cottage, Strathcarron, Ross-shire
A mile from the Estate entrance, the cottages nestle among the hills and fields and in the evenings, deer often come into the gardens to graze. A small stream runs through the garden and you can watch the cows and sheep all round. Attadale Estate offers glorious walking (including two Munros), loch and river fishing.
Up in the hills, you can walk all day without seeing anyone. If you enjoy mountain biking, you have lots of opportunities here. You are near the sea. There is no passing traffic as the cottages are at the end of the tarmac road.
Furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture with attractive prints and paintings in every room, the cottages offer a relaxing and pretty home. New 32" TV with Blu-ray player in every house.
Spend the day curled up with a book or explore far and wide and then return to your comfortable home and warm wood burning stove in the evening. Uniquely visitors are able to visit the award winning 4 star Attadale Gardens free of charge at any time during their stay. Free Wifi available
Hill walking, loch & sea fishing, mountain biking: A map is provided in each house with a selection of walks marked on it. The walks vary in length from a couple of hours to all day. Climbing the Munros is only recommended for people who are fit and accustomed to hill-walking. The Attadale estate is ideally situated for walking enthusiasts.
There is fishing available in the hill lochs if you are keen on walking. The river Carron is available to fish for the price of a day ticket which is available locally.
It is good country for mountain-biking enthusiasts. We can lend some bicycles.
The villages of Lochcarron and Strathcarron are only a few minutes drive away where all possible facilities are available: an excellent village shop, petrol stations, garages, restaurant and cafes. In addition a mere five minutes away, you can find an award winning gift shop, the Carron Pottery as well as the Carron Restaurant so you do not have to go far. Our own Attadale Gardens are free for you as visitors at any time, so you can explore whenever you feel like it. 20 acres of beautifully laid out water gardens, with sculpture scattered throughout. Enjoy the kitchen garden, the fern garden, the Japanese garden.
