We recently stayed in this beautifully restored and decorated cottage and had a fantastic time travelling throughout Provence visiting all the little hilltop villages that make this area of France so special. This home is located in a little hamlet of other homes and is extremely quiet and idyllic, perfect for relaxation.
The home is within walking distance to Joucas (20mins) and a short drive (5 minutes) or 1 hour hike up to Gordes.
Benedicte greeted us warmly, and made a reservation for our first dinner which was very helpful. Her communication throughout was easy and friendly. Our contract was in French and we were unable to read it but found everything she told us regarding extra power charges etc to be honest and clear. We had 4 adults for a week using sporadic air con and washer/dryer with no extra charges applied.
Her recommendations for restaurants in the neighbouring villages were excellent.
The house is cosy and well appointed, decorated beautifully in French style and the garden is just as amazing.
A few things to consider about the house are that the second bedroom is reached by going outside and underneath the home. It is very nice and private, perfect for 2 couples as you have you own space but may not suit if you need to keep an eye on children near the pool or at night as they are sleeping. Perhaps Benedict does not rent to families with children for this reason.
The kitchen is small but has everything you need except an oven. This didn't worry us as we ate out every night. We appreciated the Nespresso machine and brought our own pods from home. We found a great Nespresso store in Avignon to restock.
The Super U supermarkets nearby are excellent and a must see is market day in Gordes. Go right up through town and park at the very top, arriving around 8.30 will have you missing the crowds that come later in the morning. The fresh produce, meats and cheeses are highly recommended!
Our favourite villages of Gordes, Rousillon and Menerbes were easily reached by car.
For a day out we recommend heading up to Mont Ventoux, the views are fantastic, coming back via Sault for lavender fields and Rustrel for an ochre cliff walk.
It is worth noting that the wifi and mobile coverage is not great so that may affect some people, it's the countryside so not surprising, Benedicte has boosters etc to do her best to provide access.
We found great wifi at the Super U in L'Isle sur la Sorgue if you need it.
Thank you Benedicte for a fantastic stay!
