About this property
2/3 bedroom Secluded Villa 17th Century with Private heated Pool. Provencal gem
Our lovely villa is located five minute drive ( 20 minutes walk) from Gordes, officially classified one of the most beautiful villages in France. We are also lucky to be in this region which is awash with natural beauty - mountains, lakes, fields of lavender, sunflower, poppies and all the stunning places on hilltops all around and international culture. It is also close to the iconics cities of Marseilles and Avignon as well as amazing National Parks, Arles and tons of beautiful landmarks and historic places. The region is also known for a wealth of art, music, theatre, dance and a wide variety of wonderful fun markets from food to antiques. Its a never ending treat. Gordes and the surrounding area is also known for great restaurants serving modern ( a few Michelin stars) gastros in beautiful settings and of course great wines and countless vineyards and caves for glorious wine tasting. The villa is early 17th century, comprising of two bedrooms and a third large large separated from the kitchen/dining room by stylish thick crittal doors and heavy curtains for privacy. This third bedroom can be easily reverted to a second living room. All with modern en-suites and 2 separate toilets, open plan kitchen dining living area. Large fireplace. Lovely stone exterior, with a contemporary stylish and fresh interior. All modern amenities supplied throughout including TV, DVD, internet, bluetooth speakers, washing machine, dish washing machine, toaster, radio, bath and pool towels and a large romantic garden.
Provence is undoubtedly one of the most enchanting and culturally lively regions in the world and Gordes is at the heart of this extraordinarily charming landscape. Experience its stunning and varied natural beauty and creative events such as the famous Avignon Festival and an abundance of festivals in every village. There is plenty to do and see whatever you are into....sport, art, theatre, music, hiking, water sport, riding, cycling, skiing, mountaineering, paragliding, markets, antiques, food...the list is endless. Oh and of course the light of Provence and the wonderful warm weather for much of the year well into October/November.
I have been renting this house for over 18 years and happy to say that 99.8% of my guests have had a wonderful stay and a great holiday. This gives me immense pleasure as I love the place myself so to share it with others and give them the often magical experience of its unique location is just very heartwarming for me.
You will find the villa perfectly situated to visit the most beautiful places in the Luberon. Whether by car or cycling you will find the scenery always breathtaking and serene with fantastic French roads, great walks. Its heavenly and I look forward to welcoming you.

About the host
Hosted by Valerie Brown

I work as an event organiser in my own business. I am currently working on an Expo which will take place in the heart of London. I have four talented daughters who are my pride and joy. Like me they all love music. They work as a lawyer, a writer, a nutritionist and a journalist. We are London based except for one living in Los Angeles and my youngest who lives in Paris so its fun to go and see her on my way to Provence.
Why they chose this property
Belle De Jour is a place people fall in love with whether they are honey moon couples or children who love to swim and create fantasies in a large unexpected garden. There is so much breathtaking beauty in the natural landscape, the mountains, rivers, streams, fields of lavender, poppies or sunflowers, the majestic plantain trees each a work of natural art. There are tons of great markets whatever you're into. I love antiques so on Saturdays, I go to Villeneuve next to Avignon, browse or buy and then sit and eat oysters, chips and drink champagne. Local people come there so its not a touristy experience at all. Of course the most famous antique market is in Isle Sur Le Sorgue. Even if you don't buy it is always a great day and you can eat sitting at a restaurant or picnic next to the glassy clear running waters of the Sorgue. Its just enchanting. Every village has its own character and is stunning with festivals in the summer and plenty of theatre and live music and exhibitions. Also great for sport from horse riding to kayaking and loads of high adventure stuff for children.
What makes this property unique
The house is in a village but feels like a hideaway. That makes it romantic. The pool is lovely because it is painted not tiled so the water is a lovely very clear grey blue which is cool. Les Bories which is minutes away boasts some famous neighbours. Elton John, Posh and Becks, John Malkovich and most of all Gordes is where Russel Crowe's film A Good Year was filmed and if you've seen it you know that the best thing about the film was the beautiful setting. Its also easy to have a great time here. Marseille is less then an hour's drive so you can go and have a day by the beach. The famous city of Avignon (now described as the mini Barcelona) is just a 25 minutes drive. You can have the rural, town, city, mountain for skiing or hiking and beach experience as you wish. its all yours or just stay at home and eat, swim, read, walk RELAX.
