The Gite is well positioned for activities in Bergerac and surrounding areas, close to local amenities and shopping.
The owners Bob and Heather were always available when required were extremely helpful and very friendly, and went out of their way to assist us when required.
We had a very enjoyable stay and will return to the Dordogne area in the future.
We loved our stay at the gîte belonging to Bob and Heather and their hound, Roxy. So cozy, and a perfect place to return to at day’s end. To discover that Bob had 5 bicycles available for our use to pedal along the Dordogne to explore Bergerac was an added bonus. Good showers and beds were welcome as well. Bob volunteered to print the boarding passes for the next leg of our trip. He was a kind and helpful host!

It was a pleasure to have you to stay at our gite with your charming friends. Thank you for your kind words and the bottle of wine from your South Dakota vineyard. Bon voyage

Our recent stay at the gite near Bergerac was an absolute delight. Nestled right next to the Dordogne River, the charming medieval building provided a truly unique and historic atmosphere. Beyond the location, what truly made the experience special were our wonderful hosts, Bob and Heather.
From the moment we arrived, Bob and Heather's warmth and hospitality were evident. They were incredibly attentive to our every need, ensuring our comfort and enjoyment throughout our stay. The thoughtful provisions they left, especially considering the Sunday afternoon supermarket closures, were a lifesaver! For those evenings spent relaxing indoors, the extensive selection of books and games provided endless entertainment.
The gite itself offered a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing meals and enjoying the local produce. While the pool may not be heated, the sunshine proved more than enough to warm the water for refreshing dips. The location was ideal for exploring. Bergerac was easily accessible on foot, by bike, or by car, offering the perfect balance between relaxation by the river and exploring the charming town.
Bob's knowledge of the local restaurant scene was invaluable. His recommendations, including the specialties on the menus, were spot on, allowing us to indulge in the true flavors of the region. We highly recommend this gite for anyone seeking a memorable stay in a beautiful and historic location, with hosts who go above and beyond to ensure perfection.

Very nice man
However I spent a lot of time making sure to choose the right property for our situation.
My husband has Alzheimer’s so a tv with English channels was extremely important there was no tv .
It was advertised with a dishwasher, there was no working dishwasher.
The kitchen area was impossibly small with a very old cooker that had burnt food in the base and kitchen equipment and crockery appeared to have been bought as a job lot from a charity shop.
The bathroom showers were all mouldy on th seals and toilets were stained.
The first duvet I was given was grubby and stained and there was inadequate hanging facilities consisting of a bar with a mixture of wire hangers and old shop hangers.
Had this been a cheap rental I would have been disappointed but having paid over £3000 I was angry as well.
I’m not sure whether or not my husband will be able to have another holiday so this was very important to us , I feel badly let down and very sad.
Beautiful / historical property (an armoury from the 100 yrs war). Close to airport and Bergerac town. Friendly / helpful owner . Loads of stuff to do locally, we would no hesitation in staying again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay.
Bob and Heather were very welcoming, and had great tips for exploring the region at their fingertips!
The cottage itself is lovely, with great en suites, and the grounds and pool are fab! The cottage is only a short drive to Bergerac and perfectly located to travel around the area.
Magnifique!
Peaceful, comfortable stay in a great location with hospitable hosts living next door
We thoroughly recommend this lovely place with very hospitable hosts living next door. The house was comfortable and well stocked - a home from home. It’s a pleasant 50 minute walk along the Dordogne banks into Bergerac and it’s beautiful medieval centre and plentiful restaurants. Alternatively it’s well located for visits to many other towns, castles and vineyards along the Dordogne. The pool was a big bonus too! We will return.

About the host
Hosted by Bob Lloyd
Retired Londoners, we bought the house and Gite as a holiday home and look forward to sharing it with you.
Why they chose this property
This house and Gite have real character. It was an armoury in the 14th Century Hundred Years war. Now it has all the modern conveniences set in a peaceful setting on the outskirts of Bergerac. You will get all the rest you want and as much excitement as you can take without driving 20 miles every day
What makes this property unique
The pool is special - not a boring rectangle but surrounded by the garden and decking which is an ideal eating and sunbathing area
