About this property
BBQ Hut | Log Burner | Valley Views
Summary:
Packed with character cottage charm and with all the amenities needed for your stay, Walker’s Cottage is the perfect base to escape, recharge and find adventure.
Situated in the village of Pontsticill, Walker’s Cottage offers a perfect base to enjoy the best routes and scenery the Brecon Beacons has to offer – less than 20 minutes from the base of Pen y Fan or the famous Ystradfellte Four Waterfalls, as well as a choice of outdoor activities and equipment hire available within the village.
The Space:
Meticulously designed to be comfortable and inviting from the moment you step in, the cottage features a traditional log burner in the living area, king and double bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with extra-large bath and separate shower room.
An additional two guests can be accommodated, with the sofa becoming a sofa bed when required.
The outside spaces are just as inviting, with a large, fully functional Scandinavian BBQ hut atop the tiered garden, and adjoining terrace that offers views over the Taf Fechan valley, ideal for unwinding in the setting sun or under the starry night sky.
Despite our beautiful rural location, the nearest corner store and takeaway are only 5 mins away, and the nearest supermarket and petrol station are less than 15 minutes away should you need them. If you need anything else locally, we're happy to recommend.
Book now to avoid disappointment, we are very popular! - we look forward to welcoming you soon.
Guest Access:
Parking is available on the road directly outside the property. It is not private parking so is allocated on a first come first served basis. If your party is arriving in more than one car and requires additional parking, let us know in advance and we can arrange for use of our drive (located a minute from the cottage).
Please be respectful of our neighbours - who are great and always welcoming to our guests! :)
The Neighborhood:
A village of industrial heritage, Pontsticill is closely associated with the Brecon Mountain Railway, a steam locomotive tourist railway which operates as an attraction to visitors along the former Brecon and Merthyr Railway line, and Taf Fechan reservoir, constructed to serve the growing industry and population of the South Wales valleys in the 1920s.
Pontsticill also boasts two bustling, dog friendly pubs, situated minutes from the cottage, popular year-round with locals and visitors alike.
Getting Around:
We highly recommend arrival by car due to our rural location, however a local bus runs several times a day between Pontsticill and Merthyr Tydfil, from where you can access trains to major UK cities.
We welcome cyclists with their own bikes and equipment, although local hire is available if preferred.
Other Things to Note:
Access to the secret garden is via a communal walkway at the back of the cottage, shared with the row (as traditionally built). The garden itself is for your private use only.
We provide wood for the indoor burner and coal for the BBQ for your first night’s stay, you may bring additional with you, or pre-order of extra fuel is available, contact us following your booking to arrange with us directly.
Interaction with Guests:
We are based in the village; we are happy to be as on-hand or remote as you need us to be during your stay.
