About the host
Your host
I came to live in France to fulfil a life-long dream. Here in the peace of the Mayenne countryside we live in a small valley which is home to much bird and wildlife. I insist on caring for the land organically, so the garden is not tidy but you will see lots of wildflowers, birds, bees, butterflies and insects. I am English but totally Francophile and love the French way of life - respectful of nature, each other and of course wonderful food and wine. I am an author and a therapist.
Why they chose this property
My property is instantly relaxing when you arrive - there is just something about it. There is a natural spring on site with a small pond which runs into a stream at the foot of the valley, so for most of the year you can hear the tinkling of running water from all round the garden. Birdsong abounds and in the summer the crickets and cuckoos compete for centre stage.
What makes this property unique
From the apartment you look down onto the garden and the fields where the horses graze. The apartment, which feels more like a cottage with its wood-burner and beautifully appointed rustic kitchen area, is comfortable, cosy and light. Visitors are welcome to roam around the 2 hectares of land, and enjoy the tranquillity and wildness which it offers. In late Summer and Autumn we have an abundance of fruit from our fruit trees and you were welcome to help yourselves.
