About this property

Charming Old Farmhouse, Beautifully Restored - ideal base to explore SW Ireland

High-quality accommodation, steeped in history and character. Full of light and open spaces, situated between Macroom and Coachford in the heart of the countryside. Our farmhouse is the perfect sanctuary, a place to unwind with family and friends, a calm and leafy haven where time stands still (if you want it to). Take a walk on a country lane and smell the honeysuckle, pick a blackberry or a wild flower.

If you fancy a bit of sightseeing, we're located less than an hour's drive from many of Cork and Kerry's most popular tourist attractions including Killarney, Cork City and Blarney Castle. There's plenty to do in the area: we are ten minutes away from Ballyhass Lakes Coachford, the National Rowing Centre in Farran and Zip It, Farran Wood. The nearby River Lee is very popular with anglers. The Gearagh near Macroom is an incredible place - a submerged glacial woodland and nature reserve which has been designated as a wetland of international importance. And it's only ten minute's drive from here!

Old Restored Farmhouse
We completely enjoyed our stay. The property was exactly as described. There were so many touches that show that the hosts have worked really hard to ensure that their guests are comfortable. It's a combination of old world in a farmhouse over 200 years old with restored stone walls, old family photos and original furniture with modern touches such as USB ports, modern lighting. It's a very thoughtful property. We hope that we have the opportunity to stay there again.

Lovely and Peaceful
We really enjoyed our time -this time of year can be so beautiful - early darkness found us relaxing by the fire in the evenings and up in plenty of time to enjoy beautiful morning light (and sun rising) … the house is so warm and speaks its history - a welcome respite from city and a great base for exploring (although we could easily have enjoyed staying in all day!). Many thanks to Ger and Grett and family!
