About this property

The Little Potting Shed, Fring, Norfolk

Romantic and rustic, the Little Potting Shed in Fring is the perfect Norfolk getaway for two. Situated on a private estate and nestled alongside a formal walled garden, this unique location offers an escape from the everyday, with seasonal access to an outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis courts included in your booking.
Bijou, rustic and utterly romantic - the owner has taken great care to ensure its former life as a potting shed has been retained. Yet it includes mod cons too which work cleverly together to deliver country living in a relaxed style. Accessed using a golf buggy, and with an outside bath tub to boot, you won't find anywhere else quite like this to soothe your cares away.

The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is charming with vaulted ceiling and unpainted walls to retain the authenticity of the building and create a striking contrast. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed and comes with Belfast sink with brass taps along with all the essentials you will need. The comfy double bedroom is divine with vaulted ceiling, exposed wooden beams and velux window which makes the room beautifully bright during the day and at night offers a glimpse of the stars above. The wet room next door has a surprisingly spacious walk-in shower with a large rose.

Finishing touches are charming; we just love the old wooden boards, cosy sofa positioned to snuggle up on a cooler nights and little pots of herbs. In addition, there's a small television with Apple TV and there's Wifi if you need to get back in touch with the outside world. The whole idea of this little detached retreat though is to get away from the influences of every day life hence, no terrestrial TV. What guests really love is the outside bath tub, which you can fill with hot water and bubbles and enjoy a glass of champagne as you watch the sun go down. Choose between a private fenced terrace with seating, and a lawned garden with garden furniture offering extensive views over the Fring Estate and the surrounding rural landscape. A communal swimming pool and tennis court are available for guest use from 1st April to 30th September 10am - 4pm.

Perfect for couples or single travellers, guests are afforded ample peace and quiet to enjoy a sense of isolation, yet there is access to the parkland and woodland that surround the estate. And of course, you are only a short drive from a great pub and shop at Docking, and Brancaster beach just beyond.

Three day stay
What a fabulous place - loved Little Poting Shed and in a such splendid surroundings totally secluded and relaxing for our three day stay. Unfortunately the television or radio did not work however with modern day technology we had our own standby! Buggy was a brilliant touch for luggage etc. Would recommend this Hideaway loved it!

Good concept but needs better execution
The location is exceptional and the style of the property is very likeable but it fails on a number of points. The seating area is sufficient but the furniture is so old you almost sink right through it and because of the apparent age I was concerned whether it met current safety standards. The bed is only a standard double and not king-size as advertised when we booked. There is nowhere to dry out clothes/towels which has an impact if you're having an active holiday. There is nowhere to store food away other than the standard size combined refrigerator/freezer. The equipment is fairly good but then there is only one teaspoon and two dessert spoons and no serving spoons. The grill was not clean and the barbecue was pretty grubby too. Despite all this we had an enjoyable time here because the location/area and weather were great but to make it a great place they need to fix these very fixable things.

'Little' is the operative word
If you enjoy something a 'Little' different you'll enjoy this cottage, approximately the same size as a mobile home this cottage is very cozy, the underfloor heating takes a while to warm the living area on cool evening's and is the only form of heating, so make sure you turn it on before the temperature gets too low. There is a television, but you'll need an Amazon prime account to set up the provided Fire TV stick before you can watch anything as there is no conventional TV signal. The golf buggy provided to get you round the outside of the walled garden to the logging she'd works well enough and added a bit of fun to the whole experience although probably not as much fun in driving rain. Overall my wife and I along with our dog enjoyed our stay.

Stunning property, just not fully there yet
We recently stayed at the potting shed. The whole location and ambiance was fantastic and cannot be faulted. However, despite good attention by Hideaways and indeed the owner, with just a little more attention to detail this property would fully warrant the hefty weekly cost, and be a top class venue. The building, location and outside facilities were great (despite poor weather). Inside, just needs a little bit more attention to detail. For example, the sofa is well past its best, there is no heating source other than underfloor, so drying towels in the rain is impossible, and little things like the wifi not working for half of the break, which also affected the television. Thanks to the owner for trying to sort this, and not that the lack of internet on holiday was not in itself anywhere near enough to spoil the holiday, just frustrating for a reasonably high priced rental.
