Come enjoy the sights, sounds and serenity of our fantastic getaway home nestled in a cedar forest on top of a water fall! Our Cottage at Firefly Falls has a great room with cathedral ceilings and massive stone fireplace, gracious cook’s kitchen, 1.5 baths, open loft for sleeping, and deck overlooking the waterfall. In combination, Firefly Cottage and Friefly Retreat make for a great option for gathering with others. We have keyless entry and security cameras overseeing entries and fiber optic broadband service. Our home provides a perfect getaway for artists, writers, nature lovers, sled heads, or for family gatherings (together with our Retreat), romantic getaways, and friends weekends.

We had the most wonderful time at Firefly Falls. It was beyond what was on the website. The host was amazing and so helpful and responsive. We would highly recommend staying here and we will be back!!!

We rented both properties for my daughter’s wedding party as well as for having an informal wedding rehearsal and dinner. Everyone loved the homes and there was plenty of space for all. Beautiful home 2 minutes from the wedding venue.

Magical!

Absolutely beautiful and magical! We had SUCH a relaxing visit. The little ‘extras’ were so nice! We left a few of our own favorites for the next guests. Will definitely be back!

Amazing waterfall retreat

I surpised my husband with this trip. He loves being by water and waterfalls and this place did not disappoint. Listening to that water is so great, especially at night looking up at the stars. We had a great trip and Robin was very responsive with any questions. Would stay here again for sure.

Great therapy

The sounds of the rushing water and the beauty of the setting were therapeutic to erase the tensions of our busy lives. The surrounding countryside was also calming and visually inspiring. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and lovely.

This is such a relaxing place that this is our 3rd time coming. Fun Summer Tidbit - bring beach chairs and they stay perfectly on the flat rocks in the creek allowing the very cold but refreshing water cool off your feet while you read and relax. Heavenly

Great location, and wonderful relaxing environment. We enjoyed the variety of games and activities within the house. Everything was clearly stated and communication with Robin was easy with quick replies. We really enjoyed the creek and waterfall!

Lovely cottage in a peaceful, beautiful setting. The creek with the waterfalls was incredibly relaxing and soothing. The owners put much thought and care into ensuring the comfort of guests and are very responsive. Highly recommend!

Beautiful location

The property and location were amazing and as described. Nine inches of snow hit the day before and the long drive/entryway was plowed which was great. A couple of minor issues were quickly addressed. Would definitely return if in the area again. The waterfall runs right along the expansive deck.

Waterfall weekend

Location of this cottage is amazing! The pictures of the waterfall do not capture how beautiful this place is. We loved wading and hiking up and down the creek. This cottage is very close to quite a few great NY State parks. House just as described in the listing, everything in good working order. Good information provided for checking in/out. We had a great time here. Easily one of the best places we have stayed with the kids.

Very cozy getaway

We loved our stay, it's so beautiful and cozy. The perfect getaway from the city, the waterfall right outside was just the best thing ever. We only had concern about 2 things: the deck, it's very old and not maintained it didn't feel completely safe. The shower head is very low pressure, it's basically a mist and made it difficult to shower. The host is very responsive we had an issue that they resolved as soon as possible.

A Winter Paradise

This is a property that makes you think "if I could build my own place from the ground up, with the care and attention to detail that I would want for my family, this would be it." Best VRBO property I've ever stayed at -- the location would be enough to make a tent spectacular, but the owners added a first-class property to this beautiful spot that is hard to beat. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Beautiful setting

The setting is beautiful and the homeowner has supplied everything you need. It's better for two people or a small family as other than the queen bed the other mattresses are in a roof nook on the floor. We will definitely come back. It was perfect for us. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the water.

Better Than Advertised!

Wow, wow, wow! This is a hidden gem. Whatever you imagine a "cottage in the woods" might be, expand it tenfold. This is a beautiful lodge in a stunning location. Robin was friendly and helpful. We had a couple hiccups and she was quick and generous with her responses. We will ABSOLUTELY be back.

Best vacation rental for nature lovers!

This hidden gem has to be seen to be believed. The cottage is gorgeous. The owners attention to detail is evident everywhere. Robin has obliviously taken great care to make her guests feel welcome including stocking the pantry with drinks and snacks. But the best feature awaits just outside the door to the deck. The falls are amazing. I can't wait to come back in summer with our grandson to explore the nearby parks and hiking trails. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise..

Peace and Joy for Christmas!

This property is THE most relaxing, open to nature and family gathering spot EVER! My family spent the wild weather this Christmas threw at us, snug in this lovely home with such nice simple decorations we all felt at home. Great kitchen open to the living area! Large table was accommodating for some wonderful game sessions! Looking out the many windows framed gorgeous views of the icy falls! It was like living in a postcard! The owner is very responsive and everything went smoothly so we were prepared ahead of time to just relax in the space. Thank you Robin for sharing this little bit of heaven!

Fantastic

I wanted to surprise my husband by going away for his 60th b-day. I was worried at first since we have never been to this area and I wanted this trip to be perfect. We usually find a place through friends but I went into this totally blind and I am so glad I did. Wehad an absolutely wonderful stay! The place was fabulous -very cozy and spotless, with all the amenities we needed to make this special time memorable. Robin, the host, went above and beyond by providing helpful recommendations before my trip. The property's waterfall running alongside the house was a dream, creating a soothing ambiance that put me to sleep each night. The pictures truly don't capture the beauty of this property. Without a doubt, it's the most relaxing and trouble-free home I've ever experienced. I can't wait to return!

This place is a dream

Where should I even begin? I arrived late in the night, and ventured into a nearby property. Robin and Keith were so responsive, pleasant to talk to, and very forgiving about a mixup on my end. Now, the house itself is absolutely beautiful, and its generously stocked with any and everything you may have forgotten to carry. The location is so ideal that you have a lovely view of the waterfalls from virtually any window you look out in the house. I booked this cabin for my birthday. To celebrate a basically unplugged birthday, especially at this cabin, was an absolute pleasure. If I could give six stars I would, my expectations were WELL EXCEEDED! This is also my first booking experience on Vrbo, and it's definitely set my future expectations high! I can't wait to come back soon!

Second time around was NOT a charm

It is a beautiful location. Last time we came here I felt in love with the place. But this time, on the contrary, we noticed serious issues: This is the second time that we had a problem with their lock. Both times her provided codes did not work. All shampoos and soaps were re-filled with very cheap products. We did not notice this problem last time. It caused irritation, and bumpy rash. Upon our arrival, I washed my baby’s bottles with their dish soap when we noticed that her milk is bubbly! I boiled it for FOUR times and still it was sticky. Thankfully, I brought baby dish soap with me. Second- House has a big crack in the middle and there are huge bugs including ants coming up from the basement( I never thought you can find ants at this size). Also, house is filled with black spiders. I found two upstairs on top my baby’s bassinet and three downstairs. I really recommend to have this place exterminated. Lastly- just for the morale of the story no complaints with the website description. I asked to check out half an hour later since baby was awake the wholenight. She refused. No empathy at all. As black and white as you see in the description.

This is like staying at your best friend's house where they have tried to anticipate your every need. The creekside, wooded location can't be beat and is only 20 minutes from Colgate University. Wish it had another private bedroom but we were quite comfortable.

Beautiful property, loved the waterfall in the back! The house was very sound proof and you can barely hear it until you open the doors. The only quibble is the bed upstairs needs a new mattress.

Keith (the hands that do) and Robin (the big idea girl) grew up in Mexico, NY. Our favorite season is ORANGE basketball season, followed a close second by camping season. When Robin graduated from SU's School of Architecture and Keith from Clarkson University we started our A&E careers and family in Rhode Island. A decade later we found we had to move "home" to New York, nothing quite compares to Upstate for us. Lima, near Rochester, became our new home base where we've raised a nature loving family. Our three children love the outdoors, camping, hiking, exploring and scuba diving. In the fall of 2016 we found this property on a fluke and fell in love all over again!

Why they chose this property

Avid campers for over 30 years, we finally found a permanent piece of serenity to call our own on Stockbridge Falls in Munnsville. Each year we would search for the perfect piece of calm while camping with our family. We've explored the Adirondacks, RV'ed cross country, frequented hike in sites and we believe we have finally found the best campsite ever on Stockbridge Falls. (Partially because we're getting too old to sleep on the ground!) We are thrilled to share our Cottage and Retreat (and maybe soon the Lodge too!) at Firefly Falls, right on the middle cascade of Stockbridge Falls with our guests looking for the peace and solitude vacation time deserves. How we became Firefly Falls: After a long, hot day of renovations and improvement, in which we'd had all the windows and doors open to catch all the breezes, we laid down to sleep. After a moment of rest we opened our eyes to see the flickering glow of fireflies had filled the Cottage. It added just one more element of magic to our favorite place to be together. We hope you love our home away from home as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

Our solitude will draw you in, the gentle roar of our waterfall will captivate and our cottages will encourage you to slow down, relax and enjoy nature. You definitely need a car to get here and explore all the great offerings of the local area but you just might just decide to sit on the deck, cook on the grill, play board or card games at our massive table and sing around the campfire... those are our summer plans!
