We had such a great time here. The house was very clean, with plenty of books, games, puzzles, etc for entertainment. We loved the stunning views. We would definitely stay here again, the proximity to the town was great!
The house was set up perfect for our group with lots of sleeping areas and extra things around the house to use. Waking up to the ocean view and watching the sunset nightly was amazing.
House was absolute perfection and communication with the host was fantastic. My kids loved getting to play on the beach all day and search for new treasures. The home itself really lends itself to host a large group and the kitchen area is the perfect prep area to create lovely meals.
This was our second stay at The Nest, and our fifth trip to Orcas. We were four couples - all seniors. Everyone LOVED the house, especially the large back deck where we enjoyed many meals. Kitchen was well stocked, and the grocery store was a five minute drive. Bedrooms are large and comfortable. This location is excellent - centrally located on the island and near Eastsound. Beautiful house with spectacular waterfront views!
This property was tasteful, clean, comfortable and above and beyond. We watched the sea and seals and otters for hours from the deck, we had fabulous hikes and walks to town. It was peaceful and the neighbors were gracious and friendly too. We paddle boarded in the cove, and loved this house. We have been traveling to Orcas for 40 years, and this was among the best stays ever.
The OMG experience of our arrival looking out over the water; the magnificence of the home with extraordinary views out every window; the comfort & cleanliness; reading books from the stuffed bookshelves, especially the kids section; the secret room; the ping pong table; the responsiveness of the host. These are just a few of the wonderful experiences shared by our family in this lovely home. Thank you!
Our recent stay was just as wonderful as our previous ones but this time with extended family. The kitchen was outfitted with just the right amenities - stainless steel cookware and glass storage containers to name a few - and the new stove worked beautifully! We loved walking to and from town, shopping for pastries, pottery, and gazing out onto the water from almost any window in the house. Communication with the manager was excellent as always. Thank you for another wonderful stay!
There were 10 of us who stayed at the Nest by the Sea, and we were all very comfortable in this beautiful, well appointed home. There were a lot of games and books for all ages, the kitchen was thoughtfully laid out (nothing was lacking!), and the VIEW! Incredible. Everyone agreed that this was a top notch vacation home.
Check in/check out was easy.
The proximity to town was really convenient.
The home was warm and sweet. We hope to be back!
Thank you, Anika, for creating such a welcoming space.
We had a great week with family at this house! The setting is amazing with most rooms having a view of the water. The interior of the house is very warm and light. There are tons of games and books and other extras to help entertain the kids. All the beds were very comfortable. We all enjoyed waking up to amazing views every morning, seeing the seals jump from the house, amazing sunsets and sunrises, and good meals cooked in the kitchen and from the grill. The kids lived for the low tides to go comb the rocks for treasured shells, look for crabs and see tiny fish in the water. We brought our kayaks and we’re able to launch from the house beach at low tide. We would recommend this house without hesitation!
We had a great stay with extended family! Our kids are 4 & 7 and they loved the ping pong table, all the amazing toys and books, and especially the stocked kids coloring table! I was impressed with all the amenities for smaller kids too. I've never seen a changing pad with cover provided at a house! The kitchen was fully stocked. The only thing missing was olive oil. There was also lots of clean towels and extra linens. The main topper, of course, is the view (& direct access down to the water/beach)! We were there in winter but now we all want to go back in the summer so we can sit on the deck and enjoy the view. Communication was good and check in/out was simple.
This is our third stay at the Nest and that probably says it all. As always, Anika was responsive and everything was exactly as promised. The house is open, stocked with so many wonderful books, and just the perfect size for our family of 7.
One bonus this time was that we had minus tides every day so we could explore the tidal flats more closely. We also made it out to Indian Island in Eastsound which we hadn't done before.
Definitely bring your kayaks if you have them. While it might be tough to launch them from the property at high tide, North Beach is just a short walk down the road. We had a couple wonderful paddles and even ran into three very large and playful sea lions . . . much more "interesting" than shy harbor seals :-).
We will keep coming back and can't recommend enough.
Thank you for a wonderful setting to gather with friends. It was easy to get to Eastsound on foot or by car. The house had everything we needed, from the kitchen to extra towels. Everything was exceptionally clean. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!
We had such a wonderful time! The location, view and comfort of home were 5 star! My two grown sons did morning and evening cold plunges at the beach, and sunsets were incredible! Kitchen had everything we could possible need and more! Thank you for the great communication and beautiful stay. Great memories!
Another wonderful week at The Nest. Having stayed here so many times in the past, these visits feel more like reunions and moments to celebrate with family members we haven't seen as often as we'd like. The house continues to be just the right size for our family of eight (Two parents, five children between 16 and 26, one daughter-in-law, and one soon-to-be son-in-law. We can't think of a better place to stay.We spent a wonderful day at Mountain Lake swimming and kayaking. We also paddled from Lieber Haven to the marina and store on Blakely Island. The rest of the week we relaxed, played games, did puzzles, played ping pong, walked around Eastsound, drove to the top of Mt. Constitution, hiked Turtleback Mountain, and explored the many tidepools during the extreme low tides the week of June 23.We also took the interisland ferry to SJI for the day. Book shopping at Serendipity, lunch at the Market Chef, beachcombing at Grandma's Cove and South Beach, bocce in Roche Harbor, and a quick stop at Lime Kiln.Really can't think of a better home base than The Nest on Orcas. We'll be back :-)
Our family of 6 had the best stay at this property. It was clean, spacious, and filled with things to keep our 4 children busy. It was the most kid-friendly rental we have stayed in. We looked up the tide schedule and planned our play on the private beach for low tide times—it looks much different at low vs high tide! The view from the house is incredible and we never got tired of looking out at the ocean. We would absolutely book this property again.
I've lost track how many times we've stayed at the Nest. We love the house, the location, and no matter what season, we have a wonderful visit.Anika is an excellent host and always responsive to any questions we have. We appreciate her flexibility allowing us to check in early on our first day.The house is always in excellent condition and generously stocked with everything you need. We will certainly be back again!
Beautiful home, perfect views and room for everyone! This home has it all. The kids loved having the ping pong table, and all the games. One thing we would have loved was easier beach access, lots of big rocks. But you can walk down the street to get beach access easy! Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will be back!

For many generations our families enjoyed coming to Orcas Island for vacations. In the early 90’s we decided to build a home and raise our family here. We had 5 homeschooled kids who loved having the beach as their classroom and doing their part in helping build our home. If you look closely you will notice some creative touches that they added to the house! We are now empty nesters and have moved on to a smaller home in the woodland area of Orcas. We are excited to share The Nest with other families. We love tourists because they see our island with fresh eyes and are awed by the beauty all around us. Hundreds of times I have heard people exclaim, "I don't know how you get any dishes washed here, I would just stand and stare out this kitchen window all day!" Our daughter, Anika, moved back to the island in 2016 to raise her family and is thrilled to be managing her childhood home.
