About this property

Pristine Parker Pond - A Hidden Gem

Come stay in our lovely lakeside cottage, built by Scott Bernard and Alan Williams, located on Parker Pond; a crystal clear, 1500-acre, deep water, quiet, limited-access lake. We call our retreat Amani, a Swahili word that means peace. If you love kayaking, secluded shorelines and beautiful hiking trails with breathtaking views, this is the place for you. Paddle the quiet shores, explore forested islands complete with campsites, picnic areas, and a recently restored, rustic cottage. Come in the fall for the most amazing autumn colors in central Maine, complete with vibrant red high bush blueberries along the shoreline. This lake is home to loons, bald eagles, trout, large and small-mouth bass. Best of all, this well-equipped cottage was custom-built in 2015, and is replete with rustic features, outstanding interior décor, comfy beds, two fireplaces and a spectacular lake view. Bring your boat (up to 19 ft) and use the private boat access, or just use our 3 kayaks and 12-foot aluminum row boat. Many breeds of dogs are welcome with owner permission.

Fees: $100 cleaning fee, Maine State Lodging Tax, Pet Fee if applicable ($100 first dog, $50 second dog

Relaxing lakefront vacation

We had a wonderful 2 weeks in this charming, we'll appointed, comfortable cottage on sparkling Parker Pond. As we had our morning coffee on the screened in porch we saw a loon family go by just about every day. Having kayaks to use made our stay even more fun!

Great week at the pond

Nice relaxing week at the pond. The grandchildren loved fishing and paddle boarding, visiting Dew Haven, and campfires. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely spend more time here!

Summer vacation

The house was clean and beautiful. Water in the lake was clear but, a little shallow at the house but, a short walk down and an area to swim with a swim out dock. Pleasure overall. Great weather!

Our stay at Parkers Pond

Enjoyed our stay. Interior was very nice. Railing on stairwell should be raised some at top of stairs. Our favorite place to hang out was the screened in porch. We were expecting a little more of a view of pond from house according to the photos on web site.

Response from VrboOwner on 24 Sept 2024
Thanks for your good suggestion about the railing in the house, Richard. We love sitting on the screened-in porch to relax and look at the lake. The huge living room windows are also a great place to watch the loons, great blue herons, osprey, and bald eagles- they all like to fish in the cove. Did you hear the barred owls? Early fall is a beautiful time on Parker Pond and we can swim through September. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay.

Maine Paradise

We absolutely loved this cabin on Parker Pond. It is the quintessential Maine camp on the lake with the feel of old but with all the clean modern touches. The screened porch overlooking lake was my favorite place. Did some exploring of the neighboring area and some of the preserve trails. All in all, a great vacation.

Calm and Comfortable

4 adults with an 8 and 12 year old. Everyone totally enjoyed the camp. If you needed some amenity it was there. Property had everything. We stayed during the week and it was very quiet, not many kayakers or boats in the cove. Many Loons in the morn or eve. Bald eagles and small wildlife. Water was clean and clear, fine for swimming. Truly a GEM!

Pristine Parker Pond Hidden Gem for Sure!

This lakeside cottage was the nicest rental my family ever stayed in. It really didn't feel like a rental at all, as the owners had put so many interesting details into the home. The craftsmanship of the home is very beautiful. There were many videos and books to read and several kayaks and a rowboat. The home had pretty much everything you needed for an enjoyable week on the lake. On top of that, the owners were very helpful and available for any questions, and gave very detailed information and instructions on things including where to go to rent a boat and the exact boulders to avoid in the lake. In these awful times of COVID-19, it is a true haven of relaxation and you can be assured of complete cleanliness of the cottage, as it was completely disinfected and super clean and organized. Can't say enough good things about this place. My family didn't want to leave.

Spectacular fall getaway

We stayed 4-nights at Holly’s home and I wish we could have stayed longer. The home itself is so warm and welcoming, and architecturally gorgeous. Our first day we had the remnants of a tropical storm and sitting on the screened porch with a cup of coffee, my knitting -listening to the rain on the pond, the loons in the distance, and the smells of the fall air could not have been a better start. The storm cleared and we kayaked, used the outdoor fire pit, hiked at Vaughn woods in Hallowell, picked apples at the apple shed, played games, enjoyed morning coffee on the end of the dock and just really relaxed. It was a beautiful time of year to be in Maine and I would highly recommend a visit to Holly’s home. We hope to be able to stay again. We have rented a lot of homes on VRBO and this was one of our favorites. We all came home feeling so rested and rejuvenated! Thank you Holly for sharing your home!

Beautiful Parker Pond!

What a beautiful property! Holly and Rob were always in communication. Rob gave us a guided tour of the pond when we got our boat which was VERY helpful! We enjoyed the screened in porch immensely, and i enjoyed coffee on the dock. Lots of games and time with family. Tubing and swimming on the pond in warm water. Had an issue with septic tank which was addressed immediately. Only two cons:second bedroom upstairs only with blanket for a door and bathroom downstairs only with a bathtub. We made it work. There is an outdoor shower with warm water. Must go to Fielders Choice for ice cream! We will most likely stay here again when visiting family in Maine!!

Thanks for your kind comments and for being such responsible renters. We are thinking about the downstairs tub/shower since lots of renters miss the shower aspect. Also, pondering on what type of door would work for the upstairs bedroom- maybe a pocket door. We are glad that you had lots of fun at the lake- your crew really embraced all that Parker Pond has to offer. We hope to see you, again.

Excellent

Pros: Nice location! There is a short but rewarding hike right on same street. Lake is absolutely pristine with many islands to explore by kayak. Great house, no traditional heat but a propane fireplace and heater upstairs warmed the entire house. Overall house was very big but cozy and welcoming. Cleanliness also a plus!! I have very bad environmental sensitivities and when I saw this listing allowed dogs I was worried due to past experiences. I brought my personal air purifier for the bedroom but probably didn't even need it. As we were there for the Fall colors we did not get a chance to swim but we all agreed we would absolutely like to return in the summer. Cons: TV placement in living room a bit awkward. Very far away from couch - couldn't read the on screen descriptions etc. Only thing my family didn't like was the clear shower curtain in the tub downstairs - felt it was very "creepy," lol 9.8/10 final score.

Wonderful home and great location

We enjoyed a great week at the Groom's camp on Parker Pond. The weather was warm and most nights were cool and breezy. When we arrived the house was imacultely maintained and what a pleasure this was to us as we have encountered not such favorable accommodations in previous years. We were there for a week with four of our Grandchildren. What a great time was had for all. They grandchildren went kayaking every day as well as fishing and swimming. We also did a lot of fishing, catching some great Bass in the 3-5 lb range. The screened porch was one of the best features and we spent every eveining on the porch playing games. Couldn't have asked for a better week weather wise and the camp was very well outfitted for a more than comfortable stay. We were also thrilled that they had A/C in the Camp for a couple of humid nights. The Grooms made contacting them very easy if there were any problems. Our Grandchildren are already asking if we can repeat this next summer. That tells us that they really enjoyed Parker Pond. We surely will consider it!!! Thanks for oeping up your home for us to rent. STEVE and BARBARA

A hidden gem!

What an absolute treat it was to stay at this beautiful and cozy cottage on the lake! The photos on VRBO truly don’t do it a justice, it’s just stunning! You have provided us with everything we could have possibly needed to kick back and enjoy quality time together as a family. This cottage will always hold a special place in our hearts. Enjoying a rainstorm while drinking a hot cup of coffee with the love of my life on the beautiful screened in porch. Watching the sunrise together on the dock. Roasting marshmallows over a bonfire. Watching our kids fishing off the dock and playing. Watching beautiful golden falling leaves fall all around us like confetti. Kayaking on the lake. Hiking the trails. This was our first time to Maine and it definitely will not be our last! We really enjoyed exploring the area. We went into Portland one day and visited tons of shops. We went apple picking at the adorable Apple Shed Farm. We relaxed and squeezed in as much family time in as possible. Thank you for sharing this little slice of heaven with us Holly. We’ll be back!

Relaxing Time

Beautiful property. The pond is very clean and offered great fishing. The kayaks and gear that are available to use were easily accessible. The house was very clean and offered most any amenity you would possibly need. My wife especially enjoyed the deep tub. The themed rooms were very nicely decorated with reddish tones throughout, which was very cool. Every day you would notice something really cool that you hadn't seen yet. We went during the week and we were pretty much the only ones on that end of the pond that week, so it was very peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed our stay very much!!

Relaxing Lakeside Vacation with Kids

Had a wonderful stay at this cozy-yet-modern cottage on Parker Pond. VERY kid friendly with high chair and baby gates provided. Saw more loons than people while we were there (mid-September). Beach and dock provide great water access (sandy bottom, not muddy unless you wade out a ways). Spent most of the time letting the kids (1 and 3) play in the water. Nice hiking trails at the headlands preserve at the end of the road. Overall great place, hope to come back again!
