Whispering Ridge Cabin with Spa & Mountain Bliss

Welcome to Golden Sunshine! This classic log home is a perfect place for a mountain retreat or a family get-together. The cabin is located 2 miles from town, away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough for a short drive to town. The home features a large, expansive deck, perfect for hanging out with family and friends, grilling on the BBQ, doing morning yoga, or simply enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace, perfect for warming up during the colder months and creating a classic ambiance. The home has three bedrooms upstairs with a king-sized bed in the master bedroom and queen-sized beds in the other two rooms. The downstairs office can serve as a fourth bedroom with a queen-sized bed. It's the perfect home for a large group or family looking for a stress-free getaway in a beautiful classic log cabin.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING:

Streaming services are available, but guests must log in using their accounts.
This vacation rental is equipped with a mini-split air-conditioning unit downstairs.

-Cancellations: Bookings canceled at least 60 days before the start of the stay will receive a full refund, with a $150.00 cancellation charge. Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive a 50% refund, plus a $150.00 cancellation charge. No Cancellations are Allowed for November, December, and January.

- Pets: We do allow dogs, however, please note that there is a fee of $35 per dog per night. If you plan to bring more than one dog, you must obtain prior approval and additional fees may apply. When booking through selected third-party sites such as Airbnb, once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a payment request for the dog fee, which should be paid separately.

-Soft Tub Spa: The availability of the spa may be impacted during the winter months (November–March), as its use is dependent on weather conditions. Spa temperature may range between 85°F–100°F and may not consistently exceed 100°F due to colder temperatures.

-Check-in instructions: On your arrival day, the reserving guest will receive a text with check-in instructions between 3:30 and 4:00 PM. Please stop by our office to retrieve your key from the lock box.

- Parking: Free parking is available for 3 vehicles (Seasonal Restrictions Apply)

- Outdoor lighting: Please note that outdoor lighting must comply with Riverside County regulations and must not blink, flash, or rotate. Guests will be held liable for any "light trespass" on surrounding properties.

- County permit number: 001316

- Rental agreement: Please review our rental agreement for our house rules. You will receive an emailed version to sign, but if you prefer other options, please inquire.

- Age restrictions: Due to the new County of Ordinance 927.2: We no longer accept reservations for anyone under 21 years of age.

- Seasonal wood delivery: If available, there is a $25 fee per bundle (approximately 20 pieces). Please provide at least 5 days' notice for a Friday arrival date or at least 3 days' notice for any other day of the week. Please note that there are no refunds for this service.

- Confirmation: Upon booking this property through Airbnb, New Spirit Vacation Homes will send you a direct email confirming your reservation. Attached to this confirmation will be a contract you need to review, sign, and send back within 24 hours.

- Incidentals: We reserve the right to request payment for any incidentals. This includes but is not limited to firewood, pet fees, special occasion requests, personal grocery drop-offs, pay-per-view movies or sporting events, and damaged property.

Guests booking this home under the age of 25 years of age will provide an additional insurance for $70.00 non-refundable on the day of arrival.

Relaxing Weekend with a Gorgeous View

This is a very charming, welcoming home with everything you need for a relaxing weekend in the woods. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking great meals, the living spaces were great for playing games, watching movies and hanging out with friends. We spent some time playing games on the deck and would have loved a few more adirondack chairs for watching the sunset, but other than that we had the best time. Would recommend for couples and families looking for a spacious home in a relaxing environment with excellent views. Also, an easy 7 min drive to town for food and amenities.

Not even close to 'as advertised'

We are six 35 - 50 something PCT hikers. Booked for the 'close to town' location, the hot tub, and the washer/dryer. The hot tub, featured as the front page of the rental, was off. The washing machine didn't work. The house is located 2.4 miles up steep curving roads away from town. Unsafe to walk, but no Uber or Taxis in town. Paid a local $40 for the 2.4 mile ride to town and back for groceries. Rental Agency sent a person to take a look at the washer. Promised to send a repair person next day. Never came. Promised to do our laundry for us, never showed. We washed our clothes in the tub. The house is gross. Ripped furniture, wall to wall carpeting in one of the bathrooms. No hand soap, empty containers on bathroom sinks. Old, tiled counter tops with missing tiles, unsanitary gunk coming from the spaces between the tiles. Closet in entry not available to guests for coats/shoes, it was chock full of owner's junk. We finally located just one lonely dish towel. Advertised as '4 bedroom and sleeps 10'. There are 3 bedrooms, and a study with a futon. There is not another bed, so 'sleeps 10' is a strange claim. The television is in that study, which needed to be a bedroom for one of our group, so a movie night during the snow storm was not happening. It's old and dated and in need of updates. Called VRBO to report the issues. I was put on hold for 20 minutes to consult with the rental agency. They gave us 150.00 for lack of cleanliness, but denied the property was misrepresented.

Nice getaway

The jacuzzi was nice, but don't expect any jets and it's not steaming hot. The deck is dated, lots of nails, so don't walk barefoot. There's a nice area on the deck with a spectacular sunset. If your going to cook, bring your own spices, oil, coffee, etc. Overall, it was a great weekend!

Reviewer Comments: The house itself was the best, beautiful views and had everything you need for your stay, unfortunately due to nosy and racist neighbors that didn’t want us there, they built rumors and had us leave before the original contract! The ugly disturbing energy they gave us made my stay unpleasant and I felt unwelcome, owner should have asked us directly and been more considerate since we spent so much money in renting the house! There was no need for us to feel so low and not fitting in because of our race! Am totally disappointed

Awesome View, Disappointing Inside

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unfortunately my husband and I were pretty disappointed with the advertising on this property. I don't think it is as charming as the picture make it look. We were very excited to have our post deployment vacation at this cute little cabin in Idyllwild, but were sadly disappointed in a handful of things. To start we pulled up to the drive way at night, so we did not see the long branches covering the driveway which ended up scratching the top of our truck. The cabin looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 60s maybe - the furniture is very worn and old, the outlets are original and every time we plugged something in we would get shocked. The shower did not drain properly so every time we took a shower we'd be standing in 3+ inches of water. There were multiple disturbing photos in the living room which made the overall feel of the house pretty creepy. This would be an adorable cabin if some serious TLC was put in - the view from the deck is absolutely incredible, which is why we choose this cabin in the first place. We do not feel like the price of this cabin was worth it. We will definitely be visiting Idyllwild again but will be looking for a different place to stay.

Do Not Rent unless they fix

Reviewer Comments: This house has so much potential but should not be rented until the wall to wall carpet is pulled out (musty smell in house), downstairs shower is fixed to drain properly and toilet seat replaced (chipped & scraped). The furniture is ripped. Couch cover had pet hair all over it. No coffee filters for maker, no soap for laundry. Den room with futon had no bedding (fortunately we packed our own)

This email is in reference to this reservation. This was by far my worst experience with a vacation rental. I will attach some pictures of a few problems we had. I will list many more.The house was extremely dirty. All the bedding had stains and cat hair on them. I am extremely allergic to cat's which caused my allergies to act up. There was a broken chair that my brother inlaw sat in, he fell hurting his back. It was a very hot weekend and with no ac we would expect to be able to use the windows, however there were only about 1/3 of the windows with screens. This let in all the bugs. All of our guests were in turn suffering from bug bites. The kitchen was greasy and had ants. The deck and window sills had rat feces all over them. The tables on the deck were rusted and one had a broken top that was not attached to the legs. We spent about the first 4 hours of our vacation cleaning and making calls to bring these matters to your attention. We cleaned the entire deck to remove the rat droppings and cobwebs. We also scrubbed and cleaned the kitchen. We changed the bulb in the kitchen light to attempt to make it work. What I would like from your company is a full refund. This was supposed to be a relaxing weekend for my family to enjoy and ended up being a test of our good nature and humor.

Not a pleasant experience

The location of the property was very nice .. when we came in I thought about coming back again in winter bcuz of the view itself But when we came in the house.: it was not appealing at all.. downstairs there were noodles on the bed.. so obviously it wasn’t clean.. I don’t think it was wiped at all there was water bottle left in that room.. there were mice in room we saw 2 running at night..All Hand soaps in the bathroom were water down no foams at all..Dishwasher was great we were able to sanitize our dishes .. chair in the living room was broken my son was sitting on it he fell thanks god he didn’t break any bonesKitchen chairs have nails coming out of them my friend ripped her dress and I ripped my linen pants.. In general This place needs better cleaning .. forget about our current situation.. for us to pay about $370 per night including tax .. we did not have good experience at all, but we had to suck it up it was only 2 nights and we were 2 families.. when I went to check out I complained to Monica she told me to text u .. and we called her the same night we got there the phone was busy.. and one of our friends car broke down on the way here so we were busy helping them that is the reason we didn’t keep calling u guys and sucked it up..Regarding the hand soap Monica said u know there r shops here I didn’t like her that attitude..

House needs attention

The pictures of this house make it seem a whole lot better than it really is. It's a nice house that is in need of attention. It's a beautiful log cabin that has been neglected. I absolutely agree with another review that mentioned bugs and rodents...yes, it's true. I have pictures of the mice, and saw them scurry across the living room floor in broad daylight, then across the log walls in the evening. The mice were very loud. The windows in the eating area and kitchen did not have screens, so you couldn't open them. The living room was furnished with the most uncomfortable furniture, which made it so hard to actually relax. We came home from our stay exhausted and sore from being on edge the whole time and never able to be truly comfortable in any room. The TV room had a futon to sit on....I haven't sat on a futon since the 80's and they were uncomfortable then and still are. The kitchen had a newer refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, so that was nice. However, the kitchen needs some help. The area around the stove was so dark, you couldn't see what you were doing. There was a clip-on desk light on the cabinet...obviously they know it's too dark and this was the solution, but you would have to be 7 feet tall to reach it to turn it on. All of the cooking utensils were old and worn out and there were not enough decent forks to get through the day without pulling some out of the dishwasher to hand wash. The thing that really made me laugh was the watered down dish soap and 1/4 of a sponge...for the price per night I think they could afford to leave a whole sponge, but maybe that's too extravagant! The bathroom that has the shower is located on the main floor, which is fine, but just be aware that you will be carrying your things up and down the stairs. The upstairs bathroom has a tub, which we didn't use, so I can't speak about it, other than it was odd because that bathroom was fully carpeted. The bedrooms were a good size. The king bed was not the most comfortable, but it was ok. The linens and pillows were adequate, but not great. The house has a huge wrap around deck with two bistro type table and chair sets....old, rusty, uncomfortable. There was one plastic adirondak chair. We actually bought more chairs at the local hardware store so that we could all sit outside together. The wifi is slow and the power was out for two days. Not a safe place for children because of the wood stove, and the driveway is very steep.

Gorgeous Location

The property location is awesome, great privacy although there are neighbors on both sides of the home but not too close. The outdoor deck is stunning and the views are gorgeous. One thing that I think would make this property great is outdoor lounging furniture. The weather was beautiful for being outdoor on the deck and the table and chairs were old and weathered. The interior is dated but charming. Accommodated our group of 8 well. The Master bedroom is very roomy but it's sort of loft style with shutters over the living room, so if you're worried about hearing the going ons of late night activities, this may not be ideal for some. This home is not large but very comfortable. There is a laundry room offering great space for storing items that don't need refrigerating, wine, canned goods, chips and such. If electric stoves are not your speed, then maybe pass, but I had no problem with cooking on the stove, seemed newer. The home could use newer screens and window coverings as many insects and moths were everywhere (summer/warmer months). Also window shades in the upstairs bathroom (large with a footed tub) would be great. One thing to note is the driveway, it's very steep, so for snow you'd need to be a skilled driver navigating up and backing down. We rented the home in summer months and sliding wasn't a problem but could be hazardous with wet, icy conditions as with the stairs and walkways. Also, there a lot of stairs at the front (only) entrance. We were a relatively young group so it wasn't a problem.

Nightmares from Golden Sunshine

There were missing screens and it was hot so ventalitation was horrible as well. This house if upgraded and cleaned could be a gem. We would like to request a refund how do we get a refund? This was supposed to be our only vacation and I spent it cleaning and killing bugs, literally killed over 20 moths in one night, it was creepy. We were so exhausted the next day. Then that night in the Master closet it sounded like a mouse, rat or animal was trapped in the walls. Not Well maintained, not clean. Please contact me, Sara

Golden Sunshine for the win!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed @ Golden Sunshine cabin in Idyllwild April 2-6/'19. The place is a "real wood cabin" - what we were looking for! Views were AMAZING!!! The deck in the pic to the right is what we called the "sunshine deck" - so kewl! The cabin sleeps 10, no prob. There were 9 of us, incl our 2-yr old granddaughter. There is a loft, which made us a little nervous because of the toddler - we don't think she could squeeze under the wood edge at the bottom, yet we were on high alert when she meandered near it. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the basics for cooking! We were grateful, we cook lots. Only thing I could say about the kitchen is the dials on the oven/stovetop need replacing - can't read them. Had to guess at temps and burned the tops of a couple dishes some because we were off. The laundry room was amazing - included a space for folding clothes and a built-in wall heater (as well as in both bathrooms). Speaking of the bathrooms - both are super-sized - nice - one shower, one tub. Everything worked, we just ran out of toilet paper on our last night! The staff of New Spirit, esp Lydia and Anthony (office mgr), were both readily available by phone/text, answered every time. We did run into a mix up on leaving the cabin. We paid extra to be able to check out a couple hours after normal check out, yet the cleaning staff were not notified. Anthony happily & readily refunded us! Speaking of cleaning, the place was VERY clean! It's older (think rustic!), yet well maintained/cleaned. There was also an amazing cast iron stove in the LR which we kept going at night - heated the entire place! The 2 main roads were blocked when we came, made our commuting to/from Ontario airport & Hemet twice as long, yet we'd do it again in a heartbeat as this location was all around amazing! Pleasant Stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay was pleasant and the price was right. It was a nice cabin however, it is nearly impossible to tell what the stove settings are when you are trying to cook. We burned a few things.

Great stay in beautiful mountain cabin
