Located on the south Devon coast in Bigbury-on-Sea, our top floor (with lift) two bedroom, two bathroom, stylish apartment overlooks beautiful Bigbury Bay and is perfect for a seaside get away. It is situated a stone’s throw from the glorious Bigbury Beach with its soft sands, rock pools and tidal island and in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty next to the South West Coast Path.

Relax on the comfortable window seat and private south-west facing balcony and enjoy spectacular views out to sea and of beautiful Burgh Island with the iconic art deco Burgh Island Hotel and the 14th century Pilchard Inn.

The apartment has recently been newly furnished and refurbished with modern kitchen and bath/shower rooms, oak Karndean flooring, spotlights and restyling of interiors throughout. Super soft throws, cushions and high quality furnishings help provide that all important home from home luxury comfort and complimentary WiFi is provided. There is allocated parking for one car with additional guest parking if required.

The apartment is perfect for any time of year. In the colder months, keep cosy inside and watch the waves crashing outside and during the warmer months enjoy views of crystal blue waters and easy walks on the golden sand and when the tide is in, perhaps catch a ride on the unique Sea Tractor over to Burgh Island.

Guests benefit from direct access on to the slipway to the beach from the apartments. The on-site club has a cafe serving food and snacks daily and a terrace with outside seating, facing the sea. Complimentary use of the indoor heated pool, jacuzzi and gym are offered to our guests.

It is worth. noting that the beach is home to the highly regarded Discovery Surf School offering equipment for hire and lessons in surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding and life guards are present between May and September. Bigbury Golf Club with 18 holes is just over one mile away.

A luxurious base from which to explore this beautiful part of south Devon.



The Living Space

Flooded with natural light, the spacious dual aspect open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge have everything you need for a comfortable holiday including under floor heating for those cooler months.

The bright and modern kitchen is shaker style and is fully equipped for the keenest cook and includes induction hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge, separate freezer and washing machine/tumble dryer. There are a range of quality gadgets available to use including a nespresso coffee machine.

The pleasant dining area has table and chairs to seat 4 and looks out through sliding doors, across the balcony and to the splendid views beyond.

The spacious lounge is furnished to a very high standard with two comfortable sofas and an upholstered window seat, with plump scatter cushions and throws. Entertainment needs are taken care of with a wall mounted 55” OLED Panasonic flat screen smart TV with UK free-sat channels, and Panasonic Blu Ray DVD player. A DVD library is provided together with a supply of board games and books for those days of inclement weather or for cosy nights in. A Bose SoundLink Mini blue tooth speaker and DAB radio are also available.

En-suite Master Bedroom

The bright master bedroom with en-suite shower room is situated off the open plan living space. There is an upholstered king size bed (5’ wide) with Hypnos cashmere mattress and quality linens. Storage is provided in the bedside drawers, chest of drawers and fitted wardrobe with hanging rail and shelf. Wall mirror and hair dryer are provided. For cooler months, there is a wall mounted electric Dimplex heater.

The modern tiled en-suite shower room has a spacious walk in shower area with both rain head and hand-held showers, together with a wash basin with storage underneath, WC and heated towel rail.

En-suite Twin Bedroom

The twin room with en-suite bath/shower room is located off the hallway as you enter the apartment. There are two single metal frame beds (each 3’ wide) with Hypnos cashmere mattresses and quality linens, with a bedside cabinet in between the beds. There is also a chest of drawers and a fitted wardrobe with hanging rail and shelf for storage. A wall mirror and hair dryer are provided. As with the master bedroom, for cooler months there is a wall mounted electric Dimplex heater.

The modern tiled en-suite has a good-sized bath with shower over. Both rain head and hand-held showers are provided together with a wash basin with storage, shaver point, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside

The south westerly facing balcony has fantastic far reaching views and is reached through sliding doors from the dining area. There is a table and chairs to seat 4 and a storage box containing a selection of beach toys including buckets and spades, frisbee and cricket for the use of guests. A lovely place for morning coffee and newspapers or for a cocktail whilst watching the spectacular sun sets.

Perfect!
A beautiful, comfortable apartment, equipped with just about anything you could need and some extra luxuries too.The location is very special and I will miss having my morning coffee on the cosy window seat, enjoying the perfect view. We had great food at the cafe downstairs and at the Pilchard Inn. Our kids loved the beach on our doorstep, the swimming pool, the sea tractor and seeing a helicopter land at Burgh Island hotel! A fabulous place!

We live in Buckinghamshire with our teenage daughter and have enjoyed happy holidays in beautiful south Devon for many years. We snapped up the chance to buy our own little piece of Devon when we stumbled upon our apartment for sale, one rainy blustery day walking on Bigbury beach.

Why they chose this property

To own a property in such a breath-taking and unique location feels incredibly special. To wake up to amazing views whatever the weather is wonderful and we never tire of watching the tides come in and seeing the sea tractor amble its way across the causeway. The area is full of things to do, with many different beaches, historic homes and towns to visit if you can tear yourself away!

What makes this property unique

The easy access to Bigbury beach is fantastic. It is less than 5 minutes walk from the apartment and it is lovely to feel you can quickly pop back to the apartment at any time. Those with older children can watch them on the beach whilst relaxing on the balcony as they explore the many rock pools and caves. Then there’s the early evening game of cricket or boules on the beach to look forward to, perhaps with a little beach bbq whilst watching the glorious sunsets.

The views from the apartment are second to none. There are stunning views out to sea and overlooking Burgh Island and its’ iconic hotel, where Agatha Christie wrote several novels. Only accessible at low tide unless you catch a ride on the one of a kind sea-tractor. We are still undecided on whether we prefer hot, sunny, still days with the crystal waters an azure blue, or the wild grey stormy days, with waves thrashing as they meet. Both are a sight to behold!

Burgh Island, only a short walk across the beach, is steeped in smuggling history with amazing views from the top and the 14th century Pilchard Inn is great for lunch or nights out or step back in time for a glitzy evening at the Burgh Island Hotel.

The apartment is located on the South West Coast Path for miles of scenic walking and the Discovery Surf School is only a few minutes walk away where you can learn to surf, kayak or paddle board during your stay. If golf is your thing, then Bigbury Golf Club is just over one mile up the road with 18 holes and spectacular coastal views. There are many areas of interest with plenty of things to do within a half hour drive.
