## Neighborhood

Bayswater is well known for its close proximity to London’s greatest green space, Hyde Park. Its residents can boast a palace, lake and horse riding stables virtually in their front garden – and all in Zone 1. Its cultural and social mix, reflected in the amazingly varied restaurants and food stores that line up along Queensway, lends the area some unusual contrasts. Bayswater is cosmopolitan yet comfortable, cutting edge yet cultured. There's a strong sense of community here with a residents’ association and local magazine, and people tend to know their neighbours, a fact helped by the many shared garden squares. Historically famous for London’s first department store Whiteleys, and for having the highest concentration of hotels in London, the Bayswater of today is a much changed place. Many of the hotels are being converted into residential blocks, and there are big plans to develop Whiteleys and inject new life into Queensway. The architecture here is among some of the most impressive in London, with grand white stucco terraces and garden squares. Once here, residents tend to stay, whether they are families taking advantage of the good schools in the area, or professional couples and singles appreciating the easy commute to Central London and the breadth of local shops and restaurants.

## Transit

It’s easy to travel around London from Bayswater as there are lots of tube stations in the area! If you travel on the Central Line from Queensway Tube Station, you can get straight to Oxford Circus for shopping on Oxford Street in 10 minutes, and travel to St Paul’s to visit breathtaking St Paul’s Cathedral in around 17 minutes. Tubes on the Circle and District lines that stop at Bayswater Tube Station will take you direct to Notting Hill Gate in 2 minutes and Westminster (where you will find Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament) in just under 15 minutes. You could also use Royal Oak and Lancaster Gate tube stations, or Paddington Tube Station in neighbouring Paddington. If you prefer taxi’s to other forms of public transport, you’ll find taxi ranks dotted all over Bayswater. The most central taxi rank you’ll find is just outside Whiteleys Shopping Centre on Queensway. One of the really great things about Bayswater is its proximity to some of the most attraction filled areas of London. Bring a pair of comfortable shoes with you and you can walk from Queensway in the heart of Bayswater to chic Notting Hill’s Portobello Road Market in around 20 minutes. You will find beautiful Kensington Palace in Kensington just under 10 minutes walk away, and the fantastic range of shops on Kensington High Street are just 5 minutes walk from here. If you want more shops, you should head to Mayfair, where you can shop till you drop on Oxford Street in around 25 minutes. When you fancy a day trip to places in the U.K like Bath or Bristol, you should walk the 10 minutes to Paddington Train Station!

## Notes

This Flat is on the 5th floor and has a lift. The common areas have recently been renovated. It's bright and has unobstructed views. It is located on a dead end road, which means that it's quiet. It is about a 5 minute walk to both Bayswater Underground Station and Royal Oak Station, and about a 10 minute walk to Hyde Park.

Don't stay here
Property is not in good repair. Bring your own toilet paper. The toilet seat is loose and the toilet is not the only thing wrong. The guy at the store where you have to pick up the key to the apartment is a good distance from the apartment. The key number that Houst, (the property manager) gave me was not correct. The storekeeper made no effort to resolve the problem. We called Houst , the property manager)(they don't have personnel who come to the property) and got a new number and were able to get a key. The apartment itself is not really up to date. Again don't go there

Nice Apartment - Lousy Check in/ Check out
The apartment is as pictured and offers a comfortable location from which to view London. Be aware that it is in the north edge of the location circle identified on the listing. You must pick up and return the keys at a bodega which is more than a kilometer away. The listing does not tell you this.

Really nice apartment
The apartment fully lived up to the description - space enough for three (maybe 4 but not more) with all the required necessities for a comfortable stay. The apartment is app 10 mins walk from the Bayswater tube station and is on the 5th floor with a view over London skyline but the elevator occasionally stops working so can be a hassle to get the luggage up/down however that’s not something that should put you off in renting this apartment. The area felt safe and we didn’t experience anything bad. It has a lot of restaurants/bars etc for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Can only recommend the apartment for your next holiday in London.

Nice apartment in convenient location
The apartment was exactly as pictured. Nicely furnished with plenty of window light. Great location for the Tube and several coffee/bakery shops nearby. Gail’s at the end of the street was so convenient! The bathroom was a bit worn-looking, but everything worked as it should have. We had trouble with the door lock, but Houst (property manager) was promptly attentive and helpful when we contacted them. We recommended that they make it clear to future tenants exactly how to work the lock. The lift didn’t work one night during our stay—not sure why—but perhaps it has to do with the apartment being in an older building. Overall, though, the pros outweighed the cons.
