Charming Beachfront Home w/huge backyard, walk over dune to the beach!

Our home has close beach access, recently renovated bathrooms, a huge yard with playset for kids, a large deck with firepit, and is full of charm! Located just 60 minutes from Chicago and 50 minutes from South Bend, this home is perfect for summer vacations, weekend winery tours, and Notre Dame sports weekends. A giant back yard separates you from Lake Michigan's beautiful Sheridan Beach! Relax on the large back deck, enjoy yard games, and enjoy grilling under the stars. No street for 90 feet, so you can enjoy the peace and quiet.

The home features a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining area. Wifi and streaming services are included as well as a DVD player and Amazon fire stick . Front porch, deck with sitting and dining area, and hardscape stone annex with fire pit and gas grill make for easy entertaining. A huge back yard with outdoor shower offer plenty of green space, and the beach is a just a walk over the dune! There are accessible pathways one block in each direction as well. Three bedrooms total, two with queen beds, and 4 twin/2 bunk beds. The second floor is a large loft space and can accommodate an air mattress for additional sleep space (crib available). There are two full baths, one on the first and one on the second floor. Gas grill, beach toys, beach chairs, and numerous board games are all available for use. Linens and towels included. The backyard is truly a unique place to enjoy your morning coffee or wind down after a day at the beach. Plenty of space for kids to play on the playset or play soccer in the grass. This is our vacation home and we care for it as a second home, not a "rental".

This house is the perfect location to enjoy the beach! We have stayed multiple times and keep returning due to the proximity of the beach! This house also has everything you could need when traveling with kids, so packing is a breeze. We stayed over the 4th and enjoyed fireworks over the lake.

Proximity to beach is the best feature of this place. The yard and swingset are also great for small kids. Beds are comfortable, upstairs loft is very spacious. Kitchen was well equipped and overall everything was very good

We love this house! Great beachfront home

This place has all the comforts of home. Very clean and cozy with a well stocked kitchen. Loved the large backyard and fire pit. So many extras for kids including many toys and the jungle gym. We contacted the host a couple of times and our questions were quickly answered. It’s a very short walk to the beach. We would love to stay here again.

Great Beach Cottage

The cottage was very clean and had everything our family needed. The location is great -- EASY accessibility to the beach and plenty of available parking. The walk from the parking lot to the beach was not an issue for us as others have mentioned. Just a short walk down the sidewalk -- nothing more than you would experience walking to/from a condo. The host was very responsive when we reached out with questions. Loved the outdoor shower! Overall, we had a great week at the beach. Thank you!

Great Family Beach Getaway

Though the actual cottage is not straightforward to get to, the owners were very good at communicating where to park and how to get there. It is evident that the cottage is well taken care of and cared about by the owners. The path to the beach is technically a public path but that was never a disturbance. It is a 3 minute (brisk) to 5 minute (normal) walk to the actual beach but again, not a problem if you’re prepared for it. Our family’s experience was wonderful, and if we ever head this way again, we will surely stay here!

Upscale Charm on the Lakefront

Fantastic lakeside property with great interior design and the perfect amount of space for a family. The yard is INCREDIBLE and extremely rare in this area, and the porch that leads to it is equally excellent. The beach is just over the shallow crest of dunes at the end of the yard. Everything else about the house was excellent: cleanliness, communication, ease of use, instructions, and extra stuff like towels and bottle openers and things like that. The family room is a great hangout area and the A/C is running like a top. Fantastic sunsets also!

Charming beach house with everything you need for a beach vacation. Plenty of kids toys,beach equipment (umbrella and chairs). Short steep climb over dunes and your at the beach. Easier access down the road another very short walk. Plenty of sleeping rooms,crib high chair and a baby gate to block toddler from going upstairs. We used the outdoor grill for most meals. Indoor stove is old and small but worked for our needs. Bathrooms small,clean and tidy with plenty of towels. Outdoor shower with hot water amazing. We used it after our full days at the beach. We enjoyed ourselves every day. It was quiet,safe and cozy. Water pump never bothered me as some reviews mentioned. The house is small and old but we felt comfortable with my family of 4 adults and 2 children. Thank you for sharing your home with us. I love Lake Michigan

Amazing location

We absolutely loved the location and outdoor space of this property! The beach is so close and an easy walk over the dune, even the 22 month old could walk it. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms have been very nicely renovated. The upstairs bedroom is very large and has tons of stuff for kids and babies, however does not have a door or well fitting baby gate for the stairs. The downstairs bedroom was very small and something to be aware of when booking. We did not use the bunk room but it was very cute and was nice to have the extra space. We spent most of our time enjoying the back deck and yard and the play set was a huge hit with the kiddo!

Fairy Tale Vacation

My husband said this was the best place we've stayed in 42 years of going to beaches! We all loved it and hope to return. My youngest daughter is trying to figure out how to put together a conglomerate to buy Aimee & Adam out-that's how much she loved it. so many porch/deck options, big backyard and short walk over the dunes to the beach. You can faintly hear the sump pump but once we knew what the sound was it didn't bother us & didn't disturb anyone's sleep (& I am a VERY light sleeper). Only suggestion I'd have is if you don't like reusing a bath towel, might want to bring your own & bring napkins. Accommodations for the dog were great as well. Wally gave it two ruffs!

Perfect Location The location of this lovely beach house is its best feature. Steps from the beach, and only a short drive away from local attractions, shops, and restaurants. The house was beautifully decorated and gave the perfect beach vibe. The bathrooms were nicely updated, but a bit on the small side. We appreciated the soaps and shampoos that were available for us to use. The beds were very comfortable, and the linens were super-soft. The kitchen was equipped with everything, but the cooking area could use a little updating. The house was listed for 8, but may be more suitable for 4 adults and 4 children than 8 adults. We had 7 in our party, ages 15 to 59, and felt a little cramped when everyone was inside. The outside area more than made up for the space that was missing inside. Several decks with comfortable furniture, a space to grill, a fire pit, a playground area, and a well maintained lawn allowed us to enjoy wonderful evenings outside watching the sun set and connecting as a family. Everyone had a great time and I would choose this location again. Thank you!

Tucked away behind houses, a charming beachfront home

We stayed for 7 days for my husband’s birthday. We chose the house because of the proximity to the beach. It poured snow, so it got difficult to get over the dune-the lake was frozen-it was beautiful. The house itself is quaint and had everything we needed. We so appreciated the fireplace! The sump pump in the basement is loud, the water table was high at the time, I’m sure it’s not always that loud. We brought our dog with us and she adored the expansive backyard and beach roaming. Aimee is a delight to deal with, she was ever available to help and answer questions. Checking in could not have been easier. Thank you for being so gracious Aimee.

Great little Beach Cottage

We stayed here as a family of 6 with grandma & grandpa included! So a total of 8! This was such a great location and so perfect running back and forth to the beach. It was sooooo nice to have all the beach essentials included. The outdoor space is amazing! We are outside so much! I had originally missed that there was no washer & dryer included but the host was so gracious and even offered to do some laundry for us as we were playing softball while we were there! We would love to come back!Any questions we had Aimee was super quick to reply and help out!

Fun getaway

I would like to say that overall this was a fantastic place to stay. I do like to leave some details on feedback for future guests that stay, as I always appreciate reading through feedback. The parking is not next to the home - so be sure to bring a rolling cart or rolling luggage to get your stuff to the house. Parking is about a block away and the path to the house is concrete so it is pretty easy to navigate. Be sure to have a flash light if you return to house after dark as the path is not well lit. The house is in great condition and has everything you need in the kitchen. Owner provides all the essentials (toilet paper/paper towels/trash bags/dishwasher soap/soap for shower, towels, etc. The outside seating areas are endless and the deck is fantastic! The fire pit was the bomb!!! Fire wood is not provided, so again just make sure you have a cart for hauling firewood back to the house. We were hopeful that we would be able to see the water from the back deck, but the sand dunes are too high (no complaint here - just want others to be aware). You are able to hear the water at times. There are two paths close to the house maybe a block away that provide a wheelchair platform to get to the beach. These are much easier to walk on versus the path next to the house that goes up the large sand dune. We did not know that someone would be showing up to mow grass and also had someone show up to spray yard. I think it would be nice to let guests know the date/time when someone may be there to do these things. We were sitting on the back deck and a little startled when someone showed up. I did notice that someone left feedback that the pump under the house was very loud - we did not think it was loud at all. We had no problems with loud neighbors or any problems with noise - it was very peaceful. Overall great place to stay and would be very kid/pet friendly. Nice large back yard with grass, which is very hard to find in areas close to the beach.

Nice house with a few improvements needed

My wife, kids and I stayed here in late August 2022 for our annual summer vacation. We generally try to get a house right on the water to enjoy sunsets, the beach, and the serenity of what the Great Lakes have to offer. There were both positives and negatives of this property. First, the positives: - The large yard is great! Our kids (12 & 4) loved being able to play around in the grass and on the play place. - The outdoor living space and decks/furniture were spacious and very comfortable. It was a nice area to read, relax and sip your morning coffee. - A/C was great! - Proximity to restaurants, parks, the zoo, train station, groceries, etc. was really easy to navigate and convenient. - The beds were comfortable as were the amenities. - The air fryer! - There is a great grill on the property. The negatives: - There is no parking close to the house. While it is only a short walk down a crooked path, this is not advertised in the listing. It was only really a pain on the load/unload part of the trip, but should be noted in the listing. - The sump pump is loud - like, prevent you from falling asleep loud. It goes off every ~ 5 minutes. We actually debated leaving a few days early because of the poor sleep we were getting. Had we known this was the case, we would not have booked this property; it made relaxing inside very difficult. - There is only one view of the water from the house - up on the second floor. I can't recall if this was mentioned in the listing or not. - The trek to the beach is up and down a large dune (which is also responsible for blocking almost all views of the water). While it's great for getting your exercise in, it does make you have to really plan out your trip to the beach and what you're going to bring. There is no time in which you will say "I'm just going to run back to the house real quick". Plus, for the kids (and if you were to have any one elderly etc. with you) it made the trip to the beach difficult. Overall, I think this is a *good* property that is a new sump pump and a little additional info of the property description away from being *great* in order to level set expectations. At the price point, there are certainly other properties (that we have stayed in) that do not have these negatives.

Adorable beachfront house in a great location!

We enjoyed our stay at the beach. This house is so cute and has everything you need to for a wonderful stay at the beach. The sunset views are great! It is a great location to walk into town for a coffee, drink, or dinner. We are hoping to return again next summer to enjoy this house! It is also perfect for young kids. Our daughter enjoyed the play set and all the fun toys!

Adam and Aimee grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and currently reside in the City's Bucktown neighborhood with their rescue lab/ pointer and toddler son. Aimee is in management for a Genetic Cancer Testing Laboratory and Adam is an entrepreneur in the promotional products and real estate space. We both love the peace and quiet of this home in both summer and winter, although we prefer flip flops over boots.

Why they chose this property

We looked at one house and this was it! The charm of the home and close proximity to restaurants and Washington Park /Zoo/Marina were so wonderful but the cherry on top was the lakefront access and the beautiful grass back yard. We have worked to update the home while keeping the historic character in tact.

What makes this property unique

This home is located on the lakefront and does not have a access from a street making peace and quiet a priority.
It has a wonderful green back yard if you just want to hang out there and enjoy the deck and a game of corn hole. The house interior is charming with archways and original fireplace and sconces. We hope you find it as restful of a haven as we do. (But we are known to dance on the lawn to loud music too).
