Luxury Home on Creek on 2 Acres - Hot Tub/Sauna/Pool Table/Fire Pit/BBQ Grill

NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter with snow tires (Thanksgiving through late March). Chains can be rented in the neighborhood for $30/day.

Modeled after the old gold and silver mines in the area, our 3,300 square foot, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, custom built home is situated above Little Cascade creek on 2 secluded acres.

Only 2 miles from Purgatory Ski Resort and 24 miles from historic downtown Durango, yet the 'Creek House' offers privacy and seclusion and has been outfitted to be the ultimate vacation rental - private Hot Tub (new Feb 2024), Sauna, pool table, outdoor gas fire pit, 3 decks with great views, gas fire pit on the main deck, 2 separate living spaces, BBQ grill, games and of course the relaxing sounds of the creek, which brings back guests year after year. The home features Starlink WIFI with average internet speeds over 100mbs which makes watch your favorite streaming services on multiple devices no problem (we finally cut the cable).

The luxurious home is furnished with rustic, high quality furnishings, historic mining and western photos and features TVs in the Main Living space (60') and the 2nd living space (42') and three of the bedrooms (42').

In addition, there is a kids playroom as well as a high chair, stair gates, plastic dishes, kids books and toys.

2nd Bedroom - King Bed with TV (3rd Floor)
3rd Bedroom- King Bed and TV (Bottom Floor - along with pool table, hot tub and sauna)
4th - Queen and 2 sets of bunk beds (twin over twin) - (4th floor)

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (max $250 per stay).

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

First, the property management did an excellent job responding to the issues. The house is as spacious and pictures are accurate. The sauna is nice. Hot tub didn’t heat up, rooms didn’t cool down, and the driveway was so icy we ran into the bank (no damage & we were going slow enough to shovel out easily). Saw in the book later that they suggest parking cars at the top, but walking down would’ve been a serious hazard. We had to shovel our own snow on the patio to get to the BBQ grill as well as the lid of the hot tub (before we knew it wouldn’t work). If this place wasn’t so spendy, this would’ve gotten 4 stars.

Fabulous Family Vacation!

Our family of 10 recently stayed in this beautiful home as we visited the area for a week. Everything about our stay was wonderful, from the clear and always-immediate communication with the home's owner to Creekside's many amenities. We enjoyed all that the house had to offer and had to drag ourselves away after a too-short stay. Can't say enough great things about this serene and lovely home and would return again in a heartbeat.

Peace of the mountains

This place was just spectacular! It was more house then we needed, but this would be great for multiple families to enjoy as well. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the deck over looking the creek and the mountainous backdrop and it was so quiet except for wildlife and a mountain breeze. At night the hot tub was great and with all the lights off at the house, the stars lit up the sky. It is close to Durango, Silverton and everywhere in between. Would definitely stay there again. Great location and beautiful property

The house was great and had all the items we needed while we were there. It was a short drive to the ski slopes. The beds were comfy. We cooked most of the time while we were there and we liked how they had all the cooking utensils we needed and that they had condiments like salt and pepper to use for our meals. We enjoyed lighting the wood burning fireplace and hanging out after skiing. The only thing we didn't like was the hot tub was a little dirty and had debris floating around. The owner was very easy to communicate with and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful location and house with great amenities!

The house is only minutes away from Purgatory ski slopes, and the views are stunningly beautiful. Beds were very comfortable. We loved using the sauna, the hot tub, firepit, fireplaces and pool table. The kitchen was well-appointed and had some of the basics in the pantry (S&P, EVOO, spices, etc...). The large dining table worked well and allowed us to eat all together (6 adults and 5 teens/kids). All 3 of our cars were AWD or 4WD, but when the snow/ice got bad, only the car with chains could make it in/out of the driveway. The road to the house is VERY slow going in the snow, so even though Purgatory is super close, it can take 15 minutes to get down the road. Overall - Great house for a large group!

Reviewer Comments: We had 9 people in the house for Thanksgiving week — it comfortably slept all of us and the kitchen was equipped well enough to let us cook Thanksgiving dinner. We were very happy that the rental folks recommended 4x4s for our stay — the road leading back to the house was very icy in November, and the steep driveway would've been impossible without the all-wheel-drive rentals. Only real complaint was that the internet was uselessly slow; we all had a bit of work to get done and had to do it in Durango or with hotspots from our phones. Otherwise, a great spot to vacation from — we drove easily to the narrow-gauge Durango rail station, to Mesa Verde, and (slightly less easily) to Moab to play in Jeeps.

"The Creek House ranks among the most expansive accommodations I've found in the area.Pros: - Very clean - Sauna - Stunning views of the creek, surrounding trees, and wildlife - Clean hot-tub - Great kitchen layout - Well set up areas for socializingCons: - The driveway has significant design flaws, particularly problematic during winter months with recent snowfall. The host's warnings about chains and AWD are not a suggestion; they're a necessity. Be prepared to shovel and salt during your stay. - There are six flights of stairs in this home, which may be challenging for some guests. - The second-floor bathroom shower is very drafty, and the half-shower swing door leaves something to be desired. Additionally, the shower head has been mounted unusually high (about 10 feet up). One of my fellow guests found this shower to be unusable. - While the kitchen is well-stocked with countertop appliances, additional small kitchen hand tools would be appreciated.Overall, our group enjoyed this location, and we would likely stay again.Personal observation: The choice of bathroom sink handles may be perceived as fun by some, but I found them to be kitschy and cheap."

Thank you for staying with us, and for completing a review! We were happy to host you and your group, and are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found the home clean with stunning views. Sorry that you had trouble with the winter conditions and the driveway access. This is exactly why we recommend having 4WD vehicles with chains in the winter. This is also why we provide salt and shovels, as the home is in the mountains, so during the winter snowstorms these items are essential. The bathroom does have a high shower head, but all of the controls are at a normal height for guests ease of use. Our maintenance team has not found any areas causing any type of draft either. After doing an inventory, we found the fully stocked kitchen has all standard appliances and utensils. Sorry that it was missing whatever "small kitchen hand tools" you were looking for during your stay. We look forward to having you stay with Vacation Rental Collective again in the future!
