Before the French Revolution and until the last century, the vineyard belonged to the Montcalm family whose most illustrious representative was Louis Joseph de Saint-Véran, Marquis de Montcalm, Commander-in-Chief of the French troops in Canada during the Seven Years War (1756-1763).
Born on February 28, 1712 at the Castle of Candiac and died heroically on September 14, 1759 in front of Quebec City. Between two military campaigns and before his last command in Canada, he undertook to clear part of the woods of Candiac for the benefit of the vineyard in order to expand it.
Today, only a small parcel of vines remains on the estate which extends over only 2.5 hectares. For nearly 2 years we have been restoring this estate to allow you to stay in the best conditions and to immerse yourself in the history of General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, while enjoying the beauty, calm and serenity of the place.
