The real advantage of basing yourself at The Misty Isles View though is location. Portree is the best place to be based if you want to see as much of the island as possible. Ten minutes drive to the north and you’ll be at The Old Man of Storr car park for a simply extraordinary short hike to the amazing rock formations. Ten minutes to the south and you will be at Sligachan, the gateway to the Cuillin. Beyond Storr you have the whole of the Trotternish peninsula to explore, and then further to the west the other northern peninsulas of Waternish and Duirnish. On Waternish you’ll find the picturesque village of Stein with its Michelin starred restaurant as well as the oldest inn in the Highlands. Duirnish has Dunvegan Castle, Coral Beach and world-famous Point Neist lighthouse. Out west the Talisker Distillery will lure you during your stay, and quite right. Plus to the south you have the wonders of Elgol and the Cuillin outliers. Skye is the perfect holiday destination, and being based at The Misty Isles View is very good choice. Beach 4½ miles. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards.
