About this property

Beautiful 3-bed stone barn in idyllic Hawkshead

You will be staying in the entire upper section of this recently refurbished stone barn, dating back to 1820 – complete with secure parking, a lawned garden, and panoramic views from the large gable window in the living room towards the picture-postcard Lakeland village of Hawkshead – which is situated right in the heart of Beatrix Potter country in the Lake District National Park.

The spacious apartment has its own private entrance.

Views span open fields, and The Fairfield horseshoe mountain range on the horizon behind. The interior benefits from a very light aspect (the vaulted living space has a dual aspect to the north and west), and the garden catches most of the afternoon and evening sunshine.

You will be just a 400m (flat) walk from the bustling village, which features four historic inns, a post office, late opening Co-Op for all your shopping needs, a pharmacy, newsagent, deli, as well as the usual restaurants, coffee houses and tourist shops.

As a self-catering cottage, you'll find everything you need for a perfect stay.
The kitchen has a fridge, hob, a double oven, a kettle, freezer and microwave.
The cottage is a perfect place to relax and offers a television and internet access.

Previous guests have commented on the cosy nature of the vaulted-ceiling living space, complete with mood lighting, which features a large leather and fabric sofa and two magnificent leather chairs, with the far section reserved for a dining table with six chairs.

There are 3 bedrooms and the property can comfortably sleep six guests.

In the master bedroom, you will find a king size bed, with walk-in style wardrobe, dressing table and mirror, chest of drawers, and a hairdryer, as well as a private entrance to a spacious en-suite with full-size high-power, high-spec, multi-jet shower.

Bedroom 2 features 2 x full width (3ft) single beds plus storage space.

Bedroom 3 is snug, and contains a full-width (3ft) bunk bed which is sturdy enough for adults.

There are 2 bathrooms:
The spacious family bathroom has a toilet and sink and a bath with shower over, plus plenty of storage and a heated chrome towel rail/radiator.
The second bathroom (ensuite to master bedroom) has a toilet and sink and a walk-in shower, plus plenty of storage space and a heated chrome towel rail/radiator

Linen and towels are all included to make your stay more enjoyable.

There is a separate boiler/ drying room with a full size washer/ drier to get those muddy clothes clean and dry!

Please note there is also access (on request) to secure/dry lock up space for bikes; plus the boiler room is warm enough to act as a good space for drying wet clothes and boots.

Fairfield Cottage
Unfortunately due to high winds we experienced a fairly lengthy power cut. However the owner Pete was very helpful providing candles and a camping stove. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed I would not hesitate to go back.
