Gill & Geoff Barton
About Gill & Geoff Barton
Gill and Geoff Barton are the new owners of Rough Close House and Coppice. Having recently retired, we are excited to be able to live in the heart of the Lake District in a beautiful location. We have worked in the area for over 30 years and have a background in sport and outdoor pursuits, so we know how to enjoy it and where to go, even pubs and coffee shops!
Gill & Geoff Barton purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Gill & Geoff Barton chose Hawkshead
Knowing the Lake District very well we looked over the whole of the area before choosing Rough Close because of it's fantastic setting between Grizedale forest and Esthwaite Water. It is a beautiful location in any weather and at any time of year.
What makes this Cottage unique
It is quiet and picturesque, yet very close Hawkshead and central to some of the Lake Districts' finest and most famous visitor attractions. The Coppice has been luxuriously updated and will certainly help you to make the best of your stay in the Lake District.

Comfortable, relaxing week.
The property is clean and well equipped, with tastefully decorated and spacious rooms. The views are beautiful. It is a great place for walking and relaxation. Gill and Geoff are welcoming hosts and provided a lovely welcome basket upon our arrival. The property makes a good base for exploring The Lakes but is in a quiet and peaceful setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
