Our family of 4 with two college-aged daughters stayed 10 days in June. Communication from Sue was perfect, and the items provided (including fresh flowers and a pie) made us feel welcome.
I understand that property descriptions and photos focus on highlights, but I found this listing particularly misleading. The cottage is clean, but quite old, and although the bathroom has been recently remodeled, the bedrooms have rugs covering holes in the vinyl flooring in places, and paint on door jambs is peeling. We arrived after dark on a damp, chilly evening and couldn't figure out how to get any heat (we did the next day). The weather was warmer later in our stay.
The photos in the listing show the tile floors in the bathroom and carpeted family room, but the bedroom photos are framed to minimize views of the floor. Unfortunately, this was triggering for one member of my family, causing a very difficult first night. Had I known, I would have prepared differently, or even chosen a different property. Also, the photos don't really show that there is a street between the house and the lake. We ended up spending 3 nights in Boston and Jersey City / NYC and paying for hotels.
Having said this, if you know what to expect and are ok with it (which, if you are of a certain age, you probably will be) it is a nice place to relax, not far from beaches, and ~1 hr from Montréal. You can kayak the lake or a river, fish, bike the Island Line Trail, etc. Our trip ended better than it started!
